With Leicester City, Burnley and Hull City all struggling on their travels, we’re backing players from Stoke City, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United to take advantage of home comforts as we reveal this week’s differentials.

Andy Carroll

While he failed to deliver any attacking returns in a plum home fixture against Burnley on Wednesday night, we feel that West Ham forward Andy Carroll shouldn’t be written off ahead of another enticing home match-up against Hull City.

Carroll totalled an impressive six total goal attempts and 12 penalty box touches against Burnley, and has to be backed against a Tigers side that have conceded more goals (20) on the road than any other team.

Slaven Bilic’s men looked to be finding some form after taking a point at Anfield and managing a 1-0 win over Burnley, so it could be this afternoon that we see the goals flow for the Hammers.

Hull have conceded six times in their two matches this week, and given the small squad Mike Phelan has to work with, they may arrive at the London Stadium slightly jaded following Wednesday night’s 3-0 defeat to Spurs.

We reckon Carroll could be the man to take advantage of that, then, while the England international could also be a great option against struggling Swansea City in Gameweek 18.

So for those in need of a cheap forward, Carroll, who only sets us back 6.1, could provide a short-term option, and present us with an intriguing differential, given that he’s owned by just 2% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bosses.

Charlie Adam

With a goal and an assist in his last four appearances, and coming up against a Leicester side that is desperately struggling on the road, we’re backing Stoke’s Charlie Adam this afternoon.

The champions have conceded the joint-second highest number of goals (19) in away matches this season, and fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth in midweek.

Stoke, meanwhile, could only manage a goalless draw against Southampton, but have generally been in good form over the past month or so.

Adam, who is priced at just 4.7 in FPL, is boosted by the fact he’s involved in some of the Potters set-plays, and is expected to be on penalty duties, too.

The midfielder sits in just 0.3% of FPL squads but, having started the last seven matches, is potentially a viable option as a cheap fifth midfielder.

Mark Hughes’ side do face away trips to Liverpool and Chelsea in their next three, but it’s Leicester’s dismal away record, which has seen them register just one point on their travels, that sees us take a gamble on Adam this week.

Danny Rose

Spurs have registered eight goals and two clean sheets in their last two home matches, and we believe Danny Rose could again deliver points at both end of the pitch as Burnley visit White Hart Lane tomorrow.

The England international, who is available for 5.9 in FPL, picked up his second assist of the campaign in Wednesday night’s 3-0 win over Hull City, thriving as a wing-back in the 3-4-2-1 formation used by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Rose has registered three goal attempts and created as many chances in his last trio of appearances, and should have plenty of opportunities to bomb down the left flank against a Burnley side that have conceded more shots inside the box (91) in away matches than any other side.

Having played all 180 minutes in Tottenham’s matches so far this week, there is a slight chance Rose will be rested tomorrow, but with Spurs having 10 days until their next fixture, we’re confident he’ll keep hold of his starting spot ahead of Ben Davies.

Pochettino’s side also face further strong fixtures against Southampton, Watford and West Bromwich Albion in their next five, so Rose, who’s ownership currently stands at just 5.8% in FPL, may be worth considering given his twin threat.

    Wilson SOU or Zaha CHE?

Both going next week and I'm moving to a 352 with lallana coming in. Who should get the final chance to bring me in some points?

I would go Wilson without question if I was sure he'd start. Afobe blank encourages me to think he will as Howe seems to rotate forwards regularly of they don't get some sort of attacking return.

Zaha. Wilson is useless and Saints have just as good a defence as Chelsea.

Aye Wilson has been a pain I've been unable to get rid of for weeks because of other issues. If he doesn't score in the first 60 mins, which is most weeks, he gets hooked. Looming forward to ditching him.

you might get 0.1 if walker gets another double digit score today and alonso stays quiet

im leaning towards just keeping walker - sot and wat aren't brilliant but spurs could easily keep cleanies in those - for me if he can keep pace with alonso that's good enough for me

      Kane.

Eriksen had a great gw last week and I took full advantage. But over the course of the season I fully expect Kane to end up with a higher ppg than Eriksen and that swings it for me. However, I am glad I own Eriksen.

Kane. I don't have Eriksen. I have a little niggle that the eriksen recommendation from the captaincy article is screwed for the want of kane missing walkers cross the other night by an inch. Had kane scored would that have changed the recommendation to him? I know it's what ifs but it's not like kane was poor and not getting chances the other night. I don't think he'll blank 3 in a row.

Ha, I can't win. Someone the other week said I should make my hot topics less personal. 🙂

But as you ask, I'll be going Kane. If Dembele plays then goals are guaranteed. I still fancy him to do well even Mousa doesn't make it. Hull try to attack away, which drew Kane deeper. Burnley don't even try away - no open play goals on the road. That means Kane will be up front and should, in theory get more chances.

If I had Eriksen I'd be tempted by him. But Members should note that in terms of frequency of shots in the box recently Kane is still much better than Eriksen. Heaton, in theory, should be better at collecting his long range efforts.

Sanchez and costa obviously tempt me, but I got Kane in for these two home games to capt so I'm going stick with that.

          Morning Jonty

Personally i would keep the personal touch, as it gives a more unique flavour, especially important from esteemed players like yourself and Mark.

I see you are also bereft of Eriksen, me too, it felt like chasing me tail at this stage and i am already dizzy from that recently 🙂 my best weeks this season have come when i ignored the lure of the crowd

I'm on Kane at the minute, but am sorely tempted to captain Carroll, just a lack of form stopping me presently

bit of a paradox that statement Dino, to paraphrase, you come here to read a breadth of opinions so long as Jonty doesn't give his 🙂

There are plenty of 'professional' type articles on the site. I just feel that the internal workings and thoughts of top players are worth hearing and give a more human appraoch to the game and i especially like to hear from players who have conquered the game to the extent that Jonty and Mark have, i would guess you dislike the pre-amble too in that case?

I don't agree with this sentiment at all.

Jonty is clearly a top fpl manager and his thoughts and views are always interesting. I actually always stop to read any of his posts on the boards as even if I don't agree they are guaranteed to be thought provoking.

As I say I like jonty and like to hear his opinions too. We have the scout cast as well as his ability to comment within a hot topic on what his views are.

The preamble is one article the hot topics can be 3 or 4 a day. I'd prefer to see a more diverse spectrum of posters highlighted in the hot topic bar tbh.

It is the mods who decide what posts should be hot topics and with the volume of posters these days I feel I miss out on a lot of good posts due to not having the time to go through them all these days.
Personally I think the hot topic bar should be more populated with the best posts from the community and leave scout input for articles and replies on what the community are discussing.

yes mate, i certainly wouldn't be suprised to see them concede this week, six straight reds has flourished my cynicism, but long term, barring injury, he is a fire and forget, particularly with his attacking potential

you could perhaps do firmino to lallana and cedric to alonso. I think the way Klopps using Lallana means he is always going to be amongst the points which makes him great value and perhaps not a downgrade

Kane. These fixtures are why I brought him in a number of weeks ago.

You're up early, Jonty. Are you still making a nominal transfer this week or have events forced you into something more bold?

One of Sanchez or Costa. Kane without Dembele is a 2 pointer.

Costa plays early so not sure I can risk him ruining my weekend.

Kane because it would be typical if you take the armband of him and he scores and Eriksen blanks 🙂

I was torn between Kane, Costa and Eriksen (also to a lesser degree Sanchez, but I think City will be ready to play one of the top sides).
So I checked with them bookies:
Kane @ 8/13 for anytime goal scoring.
Also they're likely to dominate BUR with a fair amount of touches in the box which means being on pens is a huge advantage.
I guess that's what edges it for me

      Kane it is

      Fun Captaincy fact time.

No team has conceded more shots in the box away from home than Burnley.

No Spurs player has had more shots in the box, at home and in the last four matches, than Kane.

But the theory goes that Kane plays deeper without Dembele.

He has yet to encounter a team so utterly devoid of attacking threat away from home as Burnley yet. I can't even see Alderweireld playing deep in that game. Burnley just don't have any open play attack on the road.

Last time Hazard blanked four games in a row he then scored five in the next four.

Been some tough games over the last four too. cpl BOU STK next.

I think there will be some very disappointed Hazard sellers over Christmas.

It's true they conceded roughly the same amount of goals overall, but Burnley away conceded 16 goals vs Palace at home 12 goals.

If Chelsea was at home vs CPs 19 conceded away goals I'd go Costa too.
