Sunday brings the curtain down on Gameweek 19 with two more matches before the following round of fixtures gets underway tomorrow.

First up, we make up way to Vicarage Road, where Spurs are looking to take advantage of a Watford defence that’s failed to keep a clean sheet in eight league encounters.

Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli both served up double-figure tallies on their midweek travels in a 4-1 win at Southampton – the Dane now has 10+ points in four of his last six.

With a total of 10 points accrued over the last four fixtures, Harry Kane, meanwhile, is second only to Romelu Lukaku for transfers out this Gameweek as the scramble to acquire Sergio Aguero ahead of City’s clash with Burnley picks up pace.

The Hornets have netted just once in the previous three but with clashes against Stoke, Middlesbrough, Bournemouth and Burnley in the subsequent five, Walter Mazzarri’s men have a chance to play their way into our plans.

Certainly, the home side will fancy their chances against a defence that’s devoid of suspended pair Kyle Walker and Jan Vertonghen after both toppled off the Suspension Tightrope last time around.

    As an Eriksen and Rose owner it's not all doom and gloom.

    Still on for clean sheet points and that could have been Walker with the double assists instead of Trippier.

    Not that I really wish this anyone (although elite football management is different to most 'normal' jobs) but I hope Materazzi gets sacked by Watford and they slump into relegation turmoil, Swansea style, after the way they treated Flores.
    Same as Swansea did with Monk.

      Flores was a poor manager - Watford were in a downward spiral with him. Watford were right to get rid (in the same way Southampton got rid of Adkins for Poch).

        I couldn't disagree with you more, newly promoted team to get a top half finish, and FA cup semi final, whilst playing attractive football? What more did he have to do?
        Southampton were fighting relegation with Atkins in charge

          The first half of the season they were good. Then they dropped off a cliff. Have a look at the calendar year table - Watford right at the bottom with Palace (have no idea how Pardew survived for so long either). You need to change quickly in football when the rot sets in and it had definitely started setting in from match 20 for Watford.

            I do think Materazzi is a rubbish choice though. As is Clement for Swansea. Would have gone with Jaap Stam or Gary Rowett myself.

              Football is all about opinions I guess, and I respect yours, but Flores really couldn't be expected to do anymore than he did in his first season in the PL.
              I agree that sometimes changing the manager when your struggling can boost a team...not always, Rafa couldn't save Newcastle.
              But Flores was sacked, for no reason, with no outstanding replacement available.
              Same with Monk, bet Swansea would love to have him back now, rather than scrambling to bring in a guy who's only management experience is an unsuccessful one in the championship.

          Under Materazzi Watford have 22 points in 18 games. That means under Flores Watford got 16 points in 19 games in 2016. You telling me the rot had not set in under Flores - you must be kidding.

            Other factors involved....such as the cup run, if your in a mid-table team with one eye on the cup your league form will suffer, same happened to palace.
            Also not sure what fixtures those stats were taken over (for either manager)
            But you're telling me this Watford team will finish top half this season?

              I think they will finish mid-table. Not top half. But they would not have finished top half under Flores either this season. There is a clear split in the PL:

              Top 6 who are pretty much destroying the rest, but find it difficult against each other. The next 3 (Southampton, Everton, WBA) and the rest - although Swansea, Hull and Sunderland are very poor. Watford are part of the last group, but probably better than most of them, but they are going to get hammered by the top 6.

                I think they will finish 15th or lower, essentially all I'm saying is Flores was sacked because a top half finish and fa cup semi final appearance were seen as not good enough by the owners....so by that logic materazzi has to go too

                  I think the club and owners accepted Flores had met his targets (if you read all the newspaper articles around the time he left they all acknowledge this). But it is clear that things were going wrong at Watford since the turn of the year. Personally I think Watford were right to act to stop the rot otherwise you end up like Sunderland, Swansea etc. I disagreed with the choice of Materazzi though.

                    A newly promoted club will always struggle in the second half of a season as they generally have less squad depth than more established PL teams, and fitness issues kick in, as the PL is much faster than the championship.
                    Swansea are where they are now because they wrongly sacked Monk.

    Really tight in my cup match. Was trailing a dead team 49-28 with me having Kane + Alli left, while my opponent has everyone played. Kane and Alli have made up 15 so far. So still trailing it's 49-43.

        Gray lol.

        Four elite strikers - Costa, Ibra, Aguero, Kane. Just choose two or three and stick with them. They will all deliver over a season. I have gone for Costa and Ibra because of (i) price and (ii) Costa has no European football / Ibra has no internationals.
