Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas get amongst the goals as Everton dismantle Manchester City to leap onto our Fantasy radars ahead of a kind upcoming schedule. As Sergio Aguero’s stock continues to plummet under Pep Guardiola, Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaves it late but delivers yet again as Jose Mourinho’s men earn a draw with Liverpool. Here’s the Stock Check following Sunday’s pair of encounters…

On The Rise

Romelu Lukaku
It’s five goals and an assist in the last seven Gameweeks for the Everton forward who seems to have rediscovered a degree of consistency ahead of some very favourable fixtures.

With injury concerns surrounding Diego Costa and Olivier Giroud for our three-man frontlines, Lukaku strengthened his case for inclusion by firing the opener at home to City in today’s early encounter at Goodison Park.

Owned by over 24% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Toffees frontman is looking difficult to ignore at a price of 9.5 right now.

Over 14,000 FPL managers have already snapped him up since yesterday’s deadline as the Merseysiders prepare to face Crystal Palace, Stoke, Bournemouth, Middlesbrough and Sunderland in the upcoming five Gameweeks.

Kevin Mirallas, Ross Barkley
The Everton midfield pair have also upped their output in recent weeks.

An assist for Lukaku’s effort, followed by an early second-half strike, means Mirallas now has two goals and a pair assists in the last four matches. Given that he had failed to produce any attacking points between Gameweek 5-17, it’s something of an understatement to say that this comes as a major improvement.

Sitting in a mere 1.8% of FPL squads, the Belgian has dropped from a starting price of 6.5 to 6.0 this season.

Having now started four successive matches under Ronald Koeman, Mirallas looks to have finally established himself as a regular and is shaping up to be an enticing differential ahead of those aforementioned fixtures.

Barkley’s pair of assists means he has now supplied a goal and four assists in the last six Gameweeks, compared with two goals and a single assist in the opening 15 rounds of matches.

Similar to Mirallas, he’s dropped 0.5 in price (from 7.5 to 7.0) since the start of the campaign and, with an ownership less than 6%, he is now another differential to consider.

Joel Robles
The Spaniard seems to be something of a lucky charm for Everton between the posts.

The Merseysiders have now produced four clean sheets in the five league matches that Robles has started this term, compared with three shutouts over the 16 fixtures with Maarten Stekelenburg in the first XI.

Priced at 4.7 and boasting a mere 0.3% ownership, Robles looks to have barged his way past the Dutchman in Koeman’s plans and that Everton schedule may well turn a few heads for those currently eyeing up an early wildcard.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The veteran United strike came to the rescue yet again to maintain his stunning recent form with a late leveller against Liverpool.

Now top in the FPL forward rankings and second only to Alexis Sanchez overall, Ibrahimovic’s strike means he has scored or assisted in nine of his last 10 league outings.

With trips to Hull City and Leicester City, allied with home clashes against Hull City, Watford and Bournemouth in the next six Gameweeks, it’s difficult to look beyond the Swede as the one “must have” option up front. His consistency continues to rack up the points at a time when other big-hitters have faltered.

James Milner
The Liverpool man continues to profit from penalty duties, with today’s strike at Old Trafford marking his sixth of the season.

Put into perspective, only one other player – Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe, with five – has converted more than three spot-kicks in 2016/17.

Jurgen Klopp’s decision to utilise Milner as a left-back has understandably deterred most from investing, given that he’s listed as a midfielder in FPL.

The 4%-owned summer signing from City is now up to second in terms of value behind Adam Lallana in the Liverpool midfield and has climbed above Philippe Coutinho for overall points.

If, as expected, he’s reclassified as a defender in FPL next season, Milner may well be one of the first names in our pre-season squads should Klopp opt against bringing in another left-back.

In Decline

Sergio Aguero
Today’s failure at Goodison means that the City striker has notched just once in his last four league appearances.

Given that he also missed four of the last eight Gameweeks due to suspension, Aguero’s standing as “essential” for our starting XIs has all but vanished this season.

With just a single attempt on target against the Toffees, the Argentine shows no sign of shedding the inconsistency that continues to blight his displays under Pep Guardiola.

Having recently lost spot-kick duties to Yaya Toure, Aguero’s appeal is on the wane again as City now prepare to host an in-form Tottenham.

Whereas Harry Kane has earned in excess of 52,000 new owners prior to their head-to-head, only 3,000+ have taken the plunge on the out-of-sorts South American, with over 6,000 choosing to show him the exit door instead.

Daniel Sturridge
There was no real surprise to see the Liverpool striker named amongst the substitutes after an insipid midweek showing at Southampton in the EFL Cup.

Klopp instead opted for Divock Origi to lead the line at Old Trafford before the introduction of fit-again Philippe Coutinho saw Roberto Firmino shift back into a “false nine” role for the remaining half hour.

Despite the absence of Sadio Mane, Sturridge ultimately warmed the bench from start to finish, and after a brief run of two successive starts in all competitions, he looks to have quickly tumbled back down the pecking order once again.

Is it worth 1.0m more to have Baines instead of Chambers ?

I'm looking for Ake's replacement. Just not sure if expensive DF like Baines / Brunt will be worth over 4.5 DF from Middlesbrough.

    Walker - Alonso - Holebas - Ake - 3.9

Really depends on what that £1.0m means in terms of opportunity for upgrading elsewhere. If you can't see anywhere that might need upgrading in the future then Baines.

I agree with this. Put out any fires, if none then don't think twice about getting Baines in. I brought him in for Evans for this coming GW. 1m well spent

I have this front and think C.Wilson is the weak spot, but Kun to go first though.

        Walker - Alonso - Holebas - Ake - 3.9
Sanchez - Hazard - Eriksen - Phillips - De Roon
        Ibra - Kun - C.Wilson

0.8m short for straight swap Kun & Wilson -> Lukaku & Kane, so I think I will get just one and fix Ake issue first.

For that 1.0m, it might be needed if I want Coutinho but I think I will give Liverpool time to settle and go through the busy cup schedule first.

Should I play Friend home against West Ham or Walker away against city? SHould I always start the most expensive defender when in doubt? City is in shambles right now but Aguero has an excellent record against Spurs as I recall.

Any news on the Giroud front? I can swap to Lukaku or even Kane right now but I think fixture wise it cant get any better than home against Burnley, Watford and Hull in the first 4 games. Tempted to stick with Giroud if he is okay.

    giroud and costa - injured

kane - playing city (i know they are not defensively strong at all but seems strange to do aguero to kane when they are playing each other)

    Hello DZ friends,

Jumped from 250k -> 55k in a couple of GWs so pretty happy with my team.

All players can score well on any day which means there isn't much i want to change with my 2 fts.

    Heaton
    Alonso / McAuley / Baines
    Sanchez / Hazard / Eriksen / Lallana / Philips
    Ibrahimovic / Defoe

    Pickford / Friend / Pieters / Diamonde

    2ft, 1.4itb

    IDEAS....

    - No sure if i want to upgrade Pickford as he might be back in 3-4 weeks.

    - Pretty happy with my defense rotating 3 players around Baines and Alonso, i could always go McAuley to Brunt??

    - .3 short of going Defoe -> Lukaku

    - Ibra and Defoe -> Kane and Lukaku (0.0itb)

    - Defoe and Hazard -> Pedro/Antonio and Kane

    - Go to 3-4-3 with Hazard -> 4.3 and Diamonde -> Kane (I might wait one more week for this)

    Thoughts?

Honestly, neither right now, though that could change quickly when Coutinho reclaims the starting berth. (or when Pep decides that Aguero isn't a holding midfielder or whatever it is he uses him for these days)

What to do here folks? 1FT 0.4m itb

    Heaton
    Valencia Brunt Williams
    Sanchez Stanislas Alli Siggy
    Kane Ibra Defoe

    Jaku Nyom Smith Capoo

Want to get Baines in but thinking it can wait.

Just Siggy to one of a million options? Any hit needed to improve the defense?

Yeah, that's the exact move on the cards. Just a little skeptical about the Stan-Phillips double up.

      Def is good.

      Siggy to Lallana/Antonio perhaps?

I'd be inclined to save the trade.

Mediocre couple of fixtures after Hull and he only seems to haul against minnows.

    Costa Conumdrum!
From game week 17 price of 11.0 to this gameweek price of 10.4 why is he dropping like a stone? will he really leave a championship winning squad to play in China where no watches it? Footballers have zero loyalty.

Why do the values of some players drop catastrophically in no time while others like Defoe who quietly rack up goals sit at same price for weeks. And Aguero should never be 12.8 million. His price never drops.

I might be forced to sell both AKE and COSTA before they drop through the floor.
Any tips on replacements for these two if team is....

    GK - Heaton, PIckford
    Def of Holebas,McAuley, Dann, PVA,AKE
    Midfield of Lallana,Phillips, Sanchez, Ali,Kante
    strikers of Kane,Giroud, Costa

    Value
    102.3
    Bank 1.1m

Remember that costa was price locked for 7 days after bournmouth!
His ownership went up by 200k but no price rise. If he wasnt locked he would've gone up to 10.9 (best guess) & drop again so it wouldn't be so bad

Wonder what Costa drops to by GW 26. He'll be a must buy with those fixtures.

What do people think about 3 premium defenders? A lot of full backs are getting forward like Midfielders I'm starting to think having them could be a good idea. Something like Alonso, Rose, Baines for example.

Depends on team value. If you can do it without destroying your team then why not

Remember the double up on Terry/Ivanovic 7.0M each a few seasons ago? Worked well.

Baines at 5.5M is pretty good!

I do indeed, never risked it myself.

I think so, bought him in vs City and fixtures look good.

        Similar thought:

        Foster (Jaku)
        Alonso, Rose, Baines (Ward, Pieters)
        Sanchez, Hazard, Coutinho, Stanislas, Redmond
        Lukaku, Ibrahimovic (Diomande)

Somehow I've ended up with Benteke still in my team after 2FTs.

Does Big Sam have any chance of turning them around? Did they just catch West Ham in a foul mood after the Payet business? I did watch the game and Palace looked utterly toothless.

The only thing in their favour seems to be fixtures: EVE bou SUN sto MID wba TOT WAT

Don't see where the goals are coming from though, gotta hope Tekkers gets a lucky deflection next week or something and gets some confidence back.

Not knocking you but I wonder what those transfers were that merited fixing over Benteke.

Aguero > Kane and needed to upgrade defense quickly or get left behind so did Ake>Baines.
