Aaron Ramsey is ruled out of Arsenalโ€™s clash with Chelsea and Olivier Giroud requires a late fitness test. Bournemouthโ€™s Charlie Daniels is still sidelined for a trip to Everton, while Virgil van Dijk could be out for up to three months with an ankle injury.

Olivier Giroud and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are set for late fitness tests ahead of Arsenalโ€™s trip to Chelsea, though Arsene Wenger expects both to be available. Aaron Ramsey is ruled out for three weeks with a calf complaint.

Bournemouthโ€™s Callum Wilson has been ruled out for the season after suffering knee ligament damage in training. Charlie Daniels is also unavailable for the trip to Goodison, though Max Gradel is back in contention after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Calum Chambers has a chance of returning for Middlesbroughโ€™s clash with Spurs, though Gaston Ramirez and George Friend are still unavailable.

Virgil van Dijk has been ruled out for two to three months with an ankle complaint, while James Ward-Prowse and Jay Rodriguez will continue to be assessed ahead of Southamptonโ€™s clash with West Ham, Claude Puel has confirmed. Meanwhile, cub-record signing Manolo Gabbiadini looks in line for a debut after arriving from Napoli on transfer deadline day.

Xherdan Shaqiri remains sidelined for Stokeโ€™s clash with West Brom, while Glen Johnson is expected to miss out again. Wilfried Bony and Mame Biram Diouf are back in the squad after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Leon Britton is back in training and comes into contention for Swanseaโ€™s trip to the Etihad. New signing Jordan Ayew wonโ€™t be available, though, as he is still turning out for Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Sunderland new boys Bryan Oviedo and Darron Gibson will be โ€œin and around the squadโ€ for the trip to Palace, David Moyes has confirmed. Papy Djilobodji serves the second of a four-match suspension.

Steven Defour is sidelined for Burnleyโ€™s trip to Watford due to a hamstring problem. New boys Robbie Brady and Ashley Westwood are both available to make their debuts, Sean Dyche has confirmed.

Marco Silva has confirmed that new signings Alfred N’Diaye and Kamil Grosicki are available for Hullโ€™s home encounter against Liverpool. Dieumerci Mbokani is also in contention after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, though Lazar Markovic cannot play against his parent club.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrowโ€™s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

I'm looking at a few different options this week and would appreciate any views. My current team is:

    Forster, Jakupovic
Alonso, Brunt, Funes Mori, Evans (inj), Friend (inj)
    Sanchez, Eriksen, Lallana, Pedro, DeRoon
    Kane, Ibra, Defoe

    I have 2FTs and 0.1 ITB

I have this mad notion to take a -4 for Forster, Lallana and Defoe to Mannone (has to be done for the cash), Phillips and Lukaku. I prefer Lukaku to Defoe over the next few weeks, Liverpool have a few sticky fixtures coming up while WBA have a nice run. As an additional positive it increases my GW28 players by 2.

Is it madness to take a hit this week (I could leave Defoe to Lukaku to next week) or would you go with the 'safe' option of just replacing Evans or Friend and rolling 1 FT?

I'd leave Lukaku for next week, Defoe against Palace isn't a bad match up.

    • need some help guys pls.
    • need either a Bournemouth mid or Swansea mid, priced below 5.0, as a bench fodder which will come into the team in gw 28.
    • was thinking about Fraser or Surman for Bournemouth OR Routledge or Fer or Caroll for Swansea.
    • the problem is that Caroll and Surman seem to not bring attacking returns whereas Routledge/Fer/Fraser seem subject to rotation, but still I think that Fraser remain the better option as he seems nailed on by Howe.

Giroud and Amat( finally) are going out for Lukaku and Baines. Still considering to ditch Evans for Brunt although it would cost me 4 points. Rest of the defense: Pieters/Alonso/Rose/Baines. Could also bench Evans and wait for him to finally be fit again..? Thoughts? -4 or bench?

Not sure if Evans is close to being back, seems like he's been week to week for many weeks now, too weak to play. I'd probably take the hit and ship him, since he pretty much sucks anyway compared to Brunt.

Works out nice, always hesitant to take a hit for defenders but need to plan for the blanks. Robertson is catching my eye but have Liverpool and Arsenal next, Yoshida maybe?

Well it depends if you are playing Robertson or not really - if /when I bring him in I will do it for Amat and he'll be my 3rd sub.

On the hit for a defender: you're already on shaky ground with Evans (ruled out) Holgate (unsure if he's nailed) and Chambers (injured) back there, so I think I'd want to be bringing in a defender too this week as you basically have
          Alonso - Pieters - 0 / 0 0. And Alonso and Pieters have unreasonable fixtures, so you could conceivably get 0 0 0 / 0 0 . Not a grea tplace!

That's why I thought a good plan could be to build out of the situation:
This week: Giroud (who has to go) and Chambers -> Kaku and Robertson (at least he's playing, but def start Holgate in and hope for the best) -4, full XI, work in progress,
Next week: think about how to remove another of your non-playing defenders - probably Haz would be the fall guy to release cash. -4, good players
Before blanks: further changes to ensure you have an XI for the blanks

          Hope that helps!

I would prefer Yoshida over Robertson I think with the fixtures but understand what you are saying. I am aware I need to now take the hit for a DEF as I am on shaky ground and it sets me up well for GW26&28. I am tempted to take the -8 this week with the aim of gaining those lost points back in the long wrong, especially over 26&28. Especially with Hazards game this week at Arsenal.

I am thinking for this week:

            Giroud for Lukaku
            Evans for Coleman/Baines
Hazard for Siggy - Leaving me 1.4ITB

This then leaves me with cash to strengthen my DEF additionally the following week, doing as you say and taking out one of my other non-playing defenders for Robertson ready for GW26&28

Yep that's a totally fine PoV - you obviously have to ensure you remain competitive, so hopefully Yoshida with WHU home will be better. Obviously he's great value, as well. So that makes sense.

I was actually close to suggesting that you took the -8 - it seems like you need to find some way to release cash, and then get it reallocated quickly. With your existing team you could be looking at a bit of a disaster, so I'd be seriously considering getting it all fixed in one go as you say.

It's a gamble and I can't 100% condone it - this year I have done a lot of -4s to "transition" away from tough situations with injuries as I was suggesting - but if I was as unlucky as you have been I'd be a bit annoyed and thinking I just wanted it fixed and, as you say, gain the points back over the next few weeks whilst getting you back on the right course going forward ๐Ÿ™‚

What you thinking? I am more than happy to be rid of Evans, but for who? Leaves me with 4.3 - Robertson? Yoshida? ... S'hamptons next 3 fixtures are good.

      Annoying when just 0.1 short!

You could do Evans/Chambers to Yoshida/Holgate or Robertson.

Or Else swap out Haz for someone like Siggy or Eriksen?

Yeah was livid, think Giroud has had a price drop as well so even more annoying.

I have Holgate at present, leaning towards Yoshida with SOU's fixtures, did they bring anyone in to challenge him in the transfer window?

Would Pickford to Jaku give you the 0.1 u need?

      You'll need a GW28 keeper anyway

Pickford is 4.0 aswell and is it worth taking a -4 hit on a keeper for one week? Pickford's return date is 25th Feb

Hardly. Lukaku is a much better goal scorer than Giroud, and is also more nailed.

      No brainer.

Think most have done it this week.

Giroud won't be playing now - think Arsene must realise what we all did, namely that Sanchez needs to be the no. 9 as he's just so flipping good, with Gru as the impact sub, Walcott on the flank.

      Brunty.

I think moving Pedro out isn't a bad move, either - CPL have really good fixtures.

    Heaton
    Alonso / Coleman / Brunt
    Sanchez / Alli / Sigurdsson / Phillips
    Ibra (vc) / Kane (c) / Lukaku

Valdes / Jones* / De Roon / Amat

I did Lallana > Zaha + Giroud > Costa. I now have a frontline of Costa, Kane & Ibra. Was this a good or a bad move?

Will downgrade Ibra & upgrade Zaha within the next few weeks.

I'd say he's not 100% nailed but has a good enough chance to be playing that I'd be looking at bringing him in if the conditions were right.

Currently, with the fixture list really difficult, I'd be staying away from Bournemouth assets until the blanks themselves.

Are you just looking at him or thinking of bringing him in?

        • need either a Bournemouth mid or Swansea mid, priced below 5.0, as a bench fodder which will come into the team in gw 28 as a differential which has the ability to bring attacking returns.

I think Carroll might be a nice option to be your fodder - gives you the extra 0.1-0.2 that mean you can afford some of the players you might otherwise be unable to afford. After all, you aren't signing an Ibra or a Sanchez to your team, you're just trying to have a solid 2-3pointer off the bench if it's for fodder.

I have Fletcher as mine. He's very annoying because he actually has gotten points!

I got him a couple of weeks ago, wouldn't say he's 100% nailed but he's 4.8 so you get what you pay for.

During the week King played upfront, I'm guessing he may have to stay there now so Fraser should hold his place down now.

He's started the last few and has just signed a new contract so it looks good for him.

with Wilson out, I would rather guess that either Afobe or King will take the lone striker role.

Yes, that's what I mean, if King plays upfront than he's not likely to disrupt who's behind him.

          Looks good for Fraser IMO.

Think he'll come back in, Hutton - he's the main set piece taker by the looks of it so I can't imagine he'll not be playing. But not a Watford fan, nor watching them particularly closely, so don't take that as gospel ๐Ÿ™‚

I'd be playing him if I owned this week

Got nothing pressing to do so might save FT and do Eriksen and Defoe to Siggy and Lukaku next week. Will have 0,1 ITB after those moves.

      Hey what's up bro ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah that's awesome - I'd keep. I've done Kaku in for Giroud personally, and am debating whether to pull in Funes Mori now for Jones, or just wait.. downside is a) I have Pieters playing WBA if I wait and Jones doesn't play, and b) I still only have one Spurs player (Alli, who I'll have to captain as ML rivals all have 2-3 Spurs)

Think both of those guys can do another week. Watch out for Kaku rising if he scores (was glad he didn't this midweek cos he would've bandwaggoned) ๐Ÿ™‚

      Who's your armband on?

Cheers ID! I definitely think that Kaku will score this weekend. Would captain him instead of Alli because Bou defence suck.

Since I don't have Kaku I will captain Kane! Got tripple spurs attack for this fixture. Hoping it pays off! And I would put F Mori in this gw if it is for free!

This is why I have to captain Alli - I only have him, no other Spurs, so people like you (GRRR lol) and in my ML will really smash it if they explode vs. Boro. Have to cover that.

Ugh you know what, I know that Kaku is the choice but I've had so many bad experiences with him I just can't... goes against my moral fibre ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was thinking FM is fine. Also considering Ben Davies to help me in the Spurs situation, and also PvA/Dann, but the value (4.6) and the non-blank good fixture list is swinging it for me. Plus I don't have Coleman/Baines so I guess he will also be in line to pick up CS and also has a proven goal threat (4 last year)
