Aaron Ramsey is ruled out of Arsenal’s clash with Chelsea and Olivier Giroud requires a late fitness test. Bournemouth’s Charlie Daniels is still sidelined for a trip to Everton, while Virgil van Dijk could be out for up to three months with an ankle injury.

Olivier Giroud and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are set for late fitness tests ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Chelsea, though Arsene Wenger expects both to be available. Aaron Ramsey is ruled out for three weeks with a calf complaint.

Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson has been ruled out for the season after suffering knee ligament damage in training. Charlie Daniels is also unavailable for the trip to Goodison, though Max Gradel is back in contention after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Calum Chambers has a chance of returning for Middlesbrough’s clash with Spurs, though Gaston Ramirez and George Friend are still unavailable.

Virgil van Dijk has been ruled out for two to three months with an ankle complaint, while James Ward-Prowse and Jay Rodriguez will continue to be assessed ahead of Southampton’s clash with West Ham, Claude Puel has confirmed. Meanwhile, cub-record signing Manolo Gabbiadini looks in line for a debut after arriving from Napoli on transfer deadline day.

Xherdan Shaqiri remains sidelined for Stoke’s clash with West Brom, while Glen Johnson is expected to miss out again. Wilfried Bony and Mame Biram Diouf are back in the squad after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Leon Britton is back in training and comes into contention for Swansea’s trip to the Etihad. New signing Jordan Ayew won’t be available, though, as he is still turning out for Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Sunderland new boys Bryan Oviedo and Darron Gibson will be “in and around the squad” for the trip to Palace, David Moyes has confirmed. Papy Djilobodji serves the second of a four-match suspension.

Steven Defour is sidelined for Burnley’s trip to Watford due to a hamstring problem. New boys Robbie Brady and Ashley Westwood are both available to make their debuts, Sean Dyche has confirmed.

Marco Silva has confirmed that new signings Alfred N’Diaye and Kamil Grosicki are available for Hull’s home encounter against Liverpool. Dieumerci Mbokani is also in contention after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, though Lazar Markovic cannot play against his parent club.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

      What's to discuss?

Jesus isn't nailed, Ibra is playing every game and is on pens.

        9 years, 5 days ago

Forgot Ibra is on pens, can't recall the last time he took one, although with the amount of flopping going on in the Hull match, you'd have thought they would have at least gotten one call.

He may by benched and City have no game in GW 26 so I would pick someone who is nailed and play in GW 26.
Generally this week Ibra is captain material so keep.

Do we think that Gabriel Jesus is going to replace Aguero?
If so, should I get him or Lukaku?

    1. TOBY1
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 5 days ago

I have Lukaku and just replaced Aguero with Jesus.
If it were between the 2 for now I'd get Lukaku considering blank gameweeks and the risk of his gametime.

Having said that I'm going Captain Jesus this week!

    2. MTPockets
        9 years, 5 days ago

Lukaku, unless your squad's very well setup for coming gameweeks.

      • Lone Wolf FPL

Now, everything may happen in City (rotation spree) so too risky to keep 12.8 mil player on the bench as Kane, Lukaku etc has good fixtures too, are nailed and no blank in GW 26

Pretty set on either Lukaku or Zlatan for captain this week.

What do you prioritise when selecting a captain?

Zlatan has better goal involvement and attacking stats, but Leicester have better defensive stats at home than Bournmouth do away. Much better.

Bournmouth have conceded twice as many big chances away from home than Leicester at home. And nearly a third more chances in general. I'm inclined to go for Lukaku as the home player and based on Bournmouth's defence. Plus, Everton seem to be in far better form than United.

      Thoughts on this?

Well, don't be too hasty, this was just supposed to spark discussion. I still think Ibra is a good shout, IF United can start actually finishing their chances. Penalties also comes into play.

I'm going with Kaku over Kane. Don't have Ibra so I don't have the same problem

        1. Dr Robotnik

          9 years, 5 days ago

Lukaku just lets me down so often. Everton did win their last home game 4-0 vs Man City though! It's a real difficult decition this week. Either player could score big. Equally, I can see the United game being 0-0 or 0-1, whereas I can see Everton gettin at least 2 or 3. I'm talking myself towards Lukaku for sure.

      4. Morgs
        • 10 Years

Logical thinking. I'd still fancy Ibra myself but that's cos he just feels a safer bet. Kane for me though

        1. Dr Robotnik
          • 9 Years
          9 years, 5 days ago

I may have gone Kane if I had him, but I was looking at the defensive stats of Middlesbrough and the attacking stats of Alli and Eriksen as considerations too, and I eliminated them from my thinking.

      5. UVac
        • 9 Years

I think that quality players like Zlatan will score big eventually. Ofcourse if the team is in bad form, then you should consider. Between Kaku and Ibra for this gameweek it's a tough one for sure.

Just comparing the Arsenal/Chelsea teams for this weekends game and Chelsea haven't got any real injuries but Arsenal...Jesus!

      Half the team are out!

      Possible lineup:

Both Luiz and Hazard are carrying knocks and strains for Chelsea. That's why Hazard has been subbed-off early in recent games.

Do Arsenal really have so many injuries? All apart from 2 in your lineup look like 1st choice players to me.

Ditch Rose, specialist could rule him out longer than expected, his price will drop and there is too much tied up in him to bench long term. I was going to bench him if 2/3 weeks and bring Coleman in for Amat but I'll sacrifice Rose now, shame.

Right guys ...biggest benching dilemma I think I’ve ever had……

      Grant (wba)
Alonso (ARS) Baines (BOU) Brunt (STO) Lovren (hul) Holebas (BUR)
Phillips (STO) Sanchez (che) Eriksen (MID) Firmino (hul) Zaha (SUN)
Lukaku (BOU) Carroll (sou) Ibra (lei)

Previous replies suggest - holebas / Alonso defo benched. Is it madness to bench Sanchez over Carroll ??

"Danny Rose had a scan yesterday now we need to wait until Monday to see the specialist"
Spurs play Saturday so that means that hes 100% out, right?

      Good to go guys?

      Foster
      Alonso - Lovren - McAuley
      Ali - Eriksen - Stan - Sanchez
      Kane - Ibra - Lukaku

      Bench - Jaku - Fletch - Mee - Kingsley

Actually tempted to play Jaku, reckon he should have a few save points if pool arnt firing.
