Raheem Sterling displays his improved consistency by bagging the opener in City’s win at Bournemouth. The Gabriel Jesus bandwagon comes to a halt prior to blank Gameweek 26 as he limps off early with a foot injury.Meanwhile, Junior Stanislas’ tumble down the Bournemouth pecking order continues as he’s benched for the second successive Gameweek. Here’s the Stock Check following Monday’s Gameweek 26 finale…

On the Rise

Raheem Sterling
Having started the last ten Gameweeks, Sterling has now returned two goals and eight assists over that spell; he could have had a ninth had substitute Sergio Aguero managed to divert his initial touch to the winger’s cross on target.

That outstanding run of form has unfortunately coincided with the emergence of Gabriel Jesus and the doubts surrounding City’s missing fixtures.

Once we’re beyond Gameweek 28, Sterling will surely enjoy greater interest having delivered so consistently. However, it should be noted that City face Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in their three matches to follow the potential Gameweek 28 blank.

Leroy Sane
On the opposite flank, Sane also sparkled against the Cherries.

He’s now started the last four Gameweeks and has delivered a goal and two assists in that spell – like Sterling, he was unfortunate not to find further profit from Monday’s encounter having struck the bar.

However, priced at 7.5 to Sterling 7.8, it’s unlikely that he will enter into the equation as more than a differential.

In Decline

Gabriel Jesus
Missing Gameweek 26 and, in all probability, also set to sit out Gameweek 28 should City progress to the FA Cup Quarter Finals, Jesus picked up a foot injury at the Vitality Stadium to compound matters.

Handed his third successive start by Pep Guardiola, the young Brazilian suffered an apparent foot injury challenging for a cross and, despite his best efforts, was forced to limp off after just 15 minutes.

Guardiola confirmed post-match that Jesus would be assessed, but offered little more than that by way of a prognosis.

Brought in by more than 210,00 ahead of Monday’s outing, his owners will at least have the comfort that they were forced to go into the next Gameweek benching or selling the striker.

The will now wait on the verdict from City, in the hope that it puts no doubt over Jesus’ starting role for the Gameweek 27 fixture away at Sunderland.

Opportunity may just knock for Sergio Aguero.

Junior Stanislas
Benched at Goodison Park in Gameweek 24, the winger suffered the same fate in Monday’s encounter as Eddie Howe opted to hand Jordan Ibe a first start in three months.

It was felt that Stanislas missed out at Everton due to a shift in formation but, on the evidence of Monday’s teamsheet, he now faces a battle to reinstate himself in the starting XI – an unwelcome development for his 133,000 owners who were looking to him to help cover the Gameweek 28 blanks.

The fact that Marc Pugh was introduced as Ibe’s replacement with 15 minutes to go offers further indication of Stanislas’ rank in the current pecking order.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

What is your main goal for FPL this season, clearly overall rank matters but does the position you sit in your ML effect the transfer decisions you make? Especially around the blanks?

      • 16 Years

Mini leagues matter the most, although I'd love a good overall rank too. Most of the time they go hand in hand but if chasing especially you start to look at your mini league rivals and make decisions based on them which might not be best for overall rank

        • 9 Years

As I'm doing well in my ML I am thinking to play it safe and keep Ibra and Sanchez. If I was chasing I'd be looking for instant points and probably getting rid.

Perpetual runner up in my main ML and determines this season. Top atm but make it a rule to concentrate on my own team until last couple of weeks. More inclined to look at rivals if I'm behind in the search for a differential.

I completely ignore my Mini-League in terms of my team decisions and transfers. For me it's all about OR, and surely the better OR you have, the better chance of doing well in your mini-league.

I know others will disagree with this, but if you start making moves based on rivals teams, you can start tolose focus on your own. Then again, I know my thought process is very much influenced by a good position on the HoF.

I'm trying to win overall league not caring about the mini leagues they will win them self's most of the mini leagues are filled with casual players anyways.
I'm current rank 509 so overall no1 is my target been inside top 10k all season.

      • 15 Years

I've had my best overall ranks when I've been in competitive mini leagues. It stopped me taking stupid risks like 12 point hits, silly captain choices and kind of narrows the pool of players in a good way! When I just play for overall rank and ignore minleagues I'm less focused, more punty and actually get a worse overall rank.

Can't be bothered doing the hokey cokey with Bournemouth midfielders and I can't think of anybody else who is nailed, doesn't miss 26 or 28 and might actually get points. I wonder if Stanislas might have got on last night if they hadn't been forced into 2 changes in the first half.

Are Ibra sellers planning to get him in the following week against a leaky Bourn?

He has played 'leaky' in both of the last two GWs.

No reason to lose if you're planning to get him back for Bournemouth.

Big problem is united are not free scoring, considering losing for costa

Well i'm not sure United were ever free scoring but Ibra was, so point taken.

    Hi...already got lukaku and coleman.

Is it too much Everton to get barklay too thru the blanks?

Or am I better off getting markovic?

    (Already got Phillips and snoddy)

    Thanks

Thoughts on doubling up on West Brom defence over the next three? Two nice hours me fixtures and no blank in GW28. Already own Brunt, I'm tempted to add McAuley.

    GW26: BOU (H)
    GW27: CRY (H)
    GW28: EVE (A)

Just rid one for cheap defender. So many points to be had in next two games. Worth a punt for mine.

This is my thinking. It's worth doubling up for the next three then move one out for a budget option.

I'd put more faith in a WBA defender picking up points over the next three than any players from the other teams without blanks in GW28, Siggy & Lukaku aside.

I already have McAuley and am probably going to get Brunt. Not sold of double up Hull defense or getting Swans defender.

With 11 "starting" for GW26 and 2 FT what would you do:

    Foster
    Luiz-Brunt-Baines-Fernandez-Robertson
    Fletcher-Siggy-Alli
    Lukaku-Benteke

    Grant-Sanchez-Ibra-Sterling

If Carroll was fit, he'd be in for Benteke. Thinking maybe Sterling->Lanzini?? And put Fernandez on the bench.

Just seen the McAuley 'goal' at the weekend. First time I saw it I couldn't even see where McAuley was! The ball is about a foot above his head when it goes in. What on earth?

Everyone has been bored to death by this topic already. That being said if the goal panel saw that McAuley's hair changed the direction of the ball, at least have the decency to tweet out a video proving it.

Any Lisbon-based folk on here? Off to Lisbon in April and it just so happens it's Sporting vs Benfica. Guessing it's pretty tough to get tickets unless you're a club member right?

Should be a treat, top 2 sides in Europe for possession football IMO.

    Verrati should run the show.
