There’s one alarm but no surprises as another two Premier League teams navigate themselves into the last eight of the FA Cup – and out of Gameweek 28.

And yesterday evening’s quarter-final draw gives us a first indication of who might be facing yet further postponements, this time involving Gameweek 34.

Fulham 0 Tottenham Hotspur 3

A Harry Kane hat-trick secured Spurs only their third win in 17 away matches as Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to field a strong side paid dividends at Fulham.

Having scored just once in his last five matches in all competitions, Kane’s treble was a welcome return to form for his 19.0% owners, although he and team-mates Dele Alli (who assisted Kane’s third) and Christian Eriksen (who teed up Kane’s first two goals) all sit in the top ten for transfers-out this week.

And the confirmation that Spurs will now miss a Gameweek 28 trip to Crystal Palace is unlikely to stem that particular tide.

The trio all played at Craven Cottage. The club’s most popular Fantasy Premier League asset, Kyle Walker (36.4%), did not, although the defence was boosted by the return from injury of Jan Vertonghen as coach Mauricio Pochettino continued with a flat back four in the ongoing absence of Danny Rose.

The consistent sales of Spurs assets seem to reflect concerns over their recent poor form as much as anything – they have an attractive schedule all the way through to the end of April, even with the forthcoming Palace blank factored in.

But with advancement in the Europa League still a strong possibility, Pochettino’s already stretched squad will be sorely tested by potential fixture pile-ups as the season reaches its climax.

Spurs have been handed a home tie with Millwall for the quarter-finals. They would be expected to win that, meaning that their Gameweek 34 trip to Leicester City would have to be rescheduled to make way for a possible semi-final, thus adding to the late-season demands on the squad.

It’s likely that the Leicester fixture will remain in Gameweek 34, shifting to the free midweek slot, however, with Spurs Gameweek 28 postponed fixture with Crystal Palace perhaps more likely to be assigned to Gameweek 37.

Spurs XI: Vorm, Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Winks (Dembele 79), Wanyama, Son, Alli (Onomah 86), Eriksen, Kane (Sissoko 75).
Subs not used: Janssen, Wimmer, Pau Lopez, Carter-Vickers.

Blackburn 1 Manchester United 2

A battling Blackburn took the lead and consistently troubled a strong Manchester United outfit, who finally saw off their hosts through goals from Marcus Rashford and substitute Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba supplying the assists.

The 39.3% of Fantasy managers who still own Ibrahimovic must have been particularly delighted to see their man scoring four goals in the last two (non-FPL) matches – he’s taken the past eight fixtures to manage that haul in the league.

Small wonder then that the Swede is the second-most sold player this week, with more than 100,000 managers releasing him ahead of United’s Gameweek 26 blank as they face Southampton in the EFL Cup final.

With a Gameweek 28 fixture – again involving the Saints – now also postponed, that exodus is likely to gather pace. Team-mates Pogba and the injured Phil Jones also find themselves in the top 30 for transfers-out.

United’s squad is arguably the strongest in the Premier League, which is just as well as the club are still in all three domestic competitions and highly likely to progress to the Round of 16 in the Europa League.

Their immediate league schedule is a kindly one, but two blanks in the next three Gameweeks and the promise of some serious fixture congestion to come could compromise the lure of their key assets.

The quarter-final draw at least adds another layer of intrigue for Fantasy managers.

United will travel to Chelsea, meaning a guaranteed Gameweek 34 postponement for one of that pair, with the Red Devils due to visit Burnley, while the Blues are meant to be entertaining Southampton. Again, those fixtures may remain in Gameweek 34 and shifted to the vacant midweek slot.

Manchester United XI: Romero, Young, Smalling, Rojo, Darmian, Carrick, Herrera, Lingard (Pogba 62), Mkhitaryan, Martial (Ibrahimovic 62), Rashford (Mata 89).
Subs not used: Henderson, Bailly, Shaw, Schweinsteiger.

* The rest of the quarter-final draw involves Middlesbrough at home to either Manchester City or Huddersfield and Arsenal, should they beat Sutton United tonight, at home to Lincoln City.

That could force the rescheduling of following Gameweek 34 fixtures: Arsenal v Sunderland; Bournemouth v Middlesbrough and Man City v West Brom. Although, as mentioned, those fixtures could remain in the Gameweek 34 midweek slot.

Leicester to be relegated this season?

I'm going for Sunderland (who have definitely out stayed their welcome), Palace (BFS myth buster) & Leicester (with Tinkers getting the sack before seasons end).

I had money on it in November. The lack of goals scored is a worrying sign (great for me) for them.

Yup, only Middlesbrough (who play for nil-nil'ers) & Hull (shocking 1st half to the season) have lower.

Wonder how many Vardy & Mahrez have between them?

And only three assists each, and only two for Fuchs.

5+3 respectively so 8. This season should be the norm for them really, makes last seem even crazier.

Too hard to call, imo. It's one of the tightest relegation battles in years.

This point of the season, most years, there's usually one team already cut adrift and a gap developing between the bottom 3 and the rest. But there's just a few points separating about 6 teams down there right now.

As Swansea just showed, all it takes is a few wins on the spin and you can leap clear of danger. A few losses and, feasibly, they could be right back down there again.

One of the easiest - no Ibra (for the masses of ghost ships), no Sanchez (for the easy option), gotta be Lukaku who will mop up the polls, percentages and EO with his recent four goaler fresh in our mind.

I'm not too tempted by Costa at the moment... if I had Kane it would be a harder decision (even slightly tempted by Ibra --> Kane(c)!) but I'll probably stick to my dullard route of Lukaku(c) as he's so far ahead on the polls

Stoke playing decent, though, and Swansea aren't the pushovers they were under Bob Bradley.

Sunderland are woeful, no two ways about that, so I'd say The Troll was the best armband choice on paper.

We should avoid when it comes to captaincy imo... Better to put more time on transfers than captaincy. We will get half points anyway, so doesnt matter much if wrong captain is picked.

I dunno, captaincy has been massive for me at points this season e.g. Lukaku's 4 goals

Agreed, it has been better than last 2 years for me as well, but I dont put much time on it.

Considering I got nothing from captain for 10-12 consecutive weeks last year, I expect assist from my captain, thats it, anything more is bonus 😳

Anyone thoughts on wildcarding for GW 29? GW 36 is so late, that it's almost a waste of a WC. If your team needs fixing, may be better off WC in GW 29 for the 6-7 weeks that follow.

    Alli, Siggy, Phillips, Roon

You have Naughton- first time I have seen him on a team since early weeks. Is he back in starting 11?

Some are guessing Sanchez will drop at least another .3 before week 28 so think of it as losing only .2... if predictions are right.

    Sorry bottomed....Need some advice guys
    I’ve got 2FTs 0.1m ITB

    Pickford | Heaton
    Baines | PVA | Pieters |Brunt | Amat(x)
    Eriksen | Sanchez | Pogba | Stanislas(?) | Capoue
    Zlatan | Kane | Lukaku

Currently got 4 players for GW28 plus Stan if he gets a game.
Really want Alonso & Mane in, I know Alonso has no game in 28 but he’d be in for the season.

Sanchez & Stanislas -> Liv mid and Sigurdsson ?
Also consider Zlatan -> Costa or Pogba -> Liv mid

Sanchez and Pogba out in my opinion. And get Mane in

You said it. Any tfrs must be GW 28 players. To avoid messing up your team prioritize 5 defenders.

Maybe something like: PVA + Pogba + Stanislas > Maguire + Mane + Morrison (-4)?

  17. GreenArrows

    Jaku Pickford
    Alonso Baines Coleman McAuley Lenihan
    Sanchez Hazard Eriksen Siggy Stanislas
    Lakaku Defeo Gray

    1FT 0.6 iTB

    Sanchez > Mane the obvious?

Currently have 8 (7 is stanislas doesn't plays) for GW 28 and Sanchez to Mane keeps a good balance and gives me 9/8 players.

    Any advice?

      Yup, do it

Then roll over a transfer to see if you can get any good changes before GW 28

Lucas Perez's agent has confirmed the striker wants to leave Arsenal "at any cost" due to lack of game time at the Gunners. (CalcioMercato)

Rodrigo Fernandez (Lucas' agent): "The truth is that Lucas is not happy at Arsenal, he hasn't settled and hasn't had a chance to play and show what he can do."

"He will leave because he's had no chance with Wenger, he wants to and play for a big club like Arsenal."

Can't blame him. And the Wenger "Should I stay or should I go" talk is bad for the club.

    Jose:

While speaking at the post-match press conference in Blackburn, Mourinho discussed all of the aforementioned absentees. “De Gea was rested,” he told reporters. “Rooney is injured. Jones is injured. I don’t think they will recover [to face Saint-Etienne on Wednesday]. Valencia was rested but Rooney and Jones haven’t trained with the team yet so I don’t think they will be there for Wednesday.”

So, the burning question on everyone's mind...

Who to bench - Phillips or Fletcher???

Alongside either of these two absolute FPL barnstormers I'll be starting the following 10

    Jaku
    Walker / Azpi / Coleman / McAuley
    Mane / Alli / Zaha
    Lukaku (C) / Costa

I really don't like that Mane hype right now
I remember earlier in the season all four: Mane, Firmino, Coutinho and Lallana had pretty much same amount of points per game. They all were fantastic and I've got Lallana in my team.
Are we overlooking other Pool mids right now?
From FPL point of view there were not much return, but everyone can have a bad run. What if after a few games we all will be talking about overlooking another Sterling?
