Lincoln City’s shock FA Cup win over Burnley has handed Fantasy managers an extra match to plan for ahead of Gameweek 28, with the Clarets’ visit to Liverpool now guaranteed.

One of only eight sides set to offer us a fixture in each of the next three Gameweeks, Jurgen Klopp’s men also face a favourable trip to Leicester City next Monday evening.

With the Alexis Sanchez exodus in full flow after Arsenal clinched a spot in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Monday night, thus depriving the Gunners of matches in Gameweek 26 and 28, we put the Merseysiders midfield options under the microscope.

First up, we’ll look at how Klopp’s attack is performing when compared with both the rest of the top-flight and their own season averages.

We then monitor the displays of their midfielders over each players’ respective last six matches, looking for signs of form at a time when many are turning to Sadio Mane on the back of his two-goal haul against Spurs last time out.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

So much concern over GW28, understandably so of course.

But how far are you planning ahead? Is anybody like me stacked with double or triple West Brom / Everton and actually forward planning an exit strategy that doesn't require a gw30 WC?

How viable is it to plan ahead? I've set myself a transfer strategy all the way to GW31 (including two hits) but I'm not sure how that will hold up. I'm fairly new to fpl (second season) and I'd be interested to hear your experiences of medium / long term transfer plans and how they have worked out for you.

Obviously you can't legislate for injuries, but I have made (and see) many week to week picks that are often knee-jerks with dire consequences. I can see how that might work in the first half of the season with value gains, but it seems every move is critical from here on in.

    1. My Name Is Prince
      • 13 Years
      9 years, 6 days ago

Of course I'm planning post GW28... Currently eyeing for something like this for GW30...

      Jaku - Pickford

      Valencia - Alonso - Robertson - Mawson/Pieters - Evans

      Sanchez - Alli - Mane - Siggy - Fletcher

Zlatan - Costa - Defoe/Gabbiadini or the like

So will sell my two Everton players (Baines --> Valencia & Lukaku --> Defoe/Gabbiadini or the like), will leave two Albion players as bench fodder... I'll be selling Sanchez and will sell Phillips to Sanchez in GW29 or 30...

      Or so...

      1. My Name Is Prince
        • 13 Years
        9 years, 6 days ago

Doesn't mean I stick to the plan as anything can happen (injuries or what have you), but I think it's still always good to have a plan, not matter whether it will materialize or not!

    2. Holmes
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 6 days ago

I try to go with the flow when it comes to attack.

I plan my defense for long term, so probably no changes there for next 8 weeks or so...

Attack is planned for 3 weeks and then reasses. At the moment I have players that will have some games after blanks as well, so keeping them is not an issue.

Prefer flexibility, making a fixed plan for a period might reduce points potential as we may keep following the plan even if the scenarios have changed

      1. My Name Is Prince
        • 13 Years
        9 years, 6 days ago

That's what I meant above too, I am flexible, I make a plan but if something changes and I want to go other way then I will go other way.... But if there's not, then I stick with the plan... Perhaps the plan is just there to ease my mind lol 😀

Have 8 as I stand and 0 ft's (no hits so far)

By GW28 I'll have 9 with 1ft to carry over into GW29, leaving me 2 ft's and then I guess if really needed a -4 to get my team back into shape.

      GW28 team:

      Jaku
      Baines/Brunt
      Barkley/Coutinho/Phillips
      Niasse/Lukaku

Will ditch either Alli or Eriksen just before GW28 for Firmino or Mane..

My second season of FPL too so in the same boat as you.

Took a hit this week doing Sanchez > Firmino and next week planning to do Ake > Mawson or Maguire and then save FT. Leaves me at GW28 with:

Jaku / Coleman / Mawson or Maguire
      Firmino / Siggy / Antonio / Phillips / Carroll / Lukaku

and Kane / Ibra / Walker / Alonso / friend / Pickford on my bench

And lets me go into GW29 with 2FT and around 4.5M in the bank. Allows me to downgrade one striker to Gabbiadini and also do Phillips to Sanchez.

Moving forward further I'm looking at getting Valencia and Sterling in for Antonio and one of the premium defenders to prepare for DGWs.

Planning definitely helps at this stage. You don't want to blow your wildcard if you don't have to do an exit strategy for weak players is a must.

That looks like good planning, and you aren't loaded with rubbish. I need to shift Brunt, Baines and Phillips sharpish after 28, and keep a Sanchez route open for 31. Still leaves me with Coleman and Kaku in 30&31 (liv & utd away) which I'm planning on riding out at the mo

Keeping Kaku and Coleman for some time may work out fine if Everton start competing seriously for a spot in Europe...

Currently field 11 this week, but that includes Stanislas, who likely won't play. Worth taking him out for a - 4? Have funds for Mane / Firm.

Here is my team I can field 11 this week but the downside is that I have to play De Roon as well. Or I can do Sanchez to one of the Liverpool mids.

    Heaton
    Funes Mori, Brunt, Alonso, Robertson
    Phillips, Sigurdsson, Eriksen, De Roon*
    Kane (C), Lukaku

Bench - Pickford, Holgate, Ibrahimovic & Sanchez.
    0 Fts & 0.9 ITB

The popular move is to bring in one of Mane/Coutinho/Firmino.

I'm not sure if I want to make the above move or not.

The consensus is to ditch Sanchez with the ability to bring back in. That is unless you have too much money tied up in him or you think he'll outscore Liverpools mids over their five fixtures with his three

Yeah, I actually realized that after posting this. I bought Sanchez at 11.3 and the logical thing is to replace him with a Liverpool mid. Thank you.

Mildly worried but not panicking. I'm capping Zlatan in 27 anyway, and I can't see Arsenal doing too much at Liverpool or at Brom in 29. After last nights shenanigans it might be worth bringing him back in 30 to face City

I think I'll be captaining Mane on this GW, and here's why:

    - Leicester look absolutely lost at the moment, Sevilla can do more damage to their self confidence tonight
    - Leicester has that midweek CL match, there will probably be some rotation
    - Mane seems to be in form, last week's results show that

And I'll do this IF Ranieri is still their coach on monday, otherwise maybe Lukaku (C).

They look slightly more lost than Bournemouth but they are at home... Tonight should be interesting

Yes, that's a good point. Tonight's match will be crucial for Leicester, if Sevilla thrashes them then I don't know how Leicester can handle it anymore.

GW29/30/31 WC template with a current PP of 103m,………

    Jaku (4.1) Pickford (4.1)
    Kosc (6.3) Valencia (5.6) Stones (4.7) Yoshida (4.3) Cheapo (4.0)
    Sanchez (11.7), any 4 more (27.5 total)
    Aguero (12.7) Ibra (11.5) Gabbiadini (6.5)

Gives you 8 players minimum with 2 x DGW.

Am seriously considering a GW29/30/31 WC now looking at this………….

The 'any four more' seems to be an issue, average 6.9m. And 5th def needs to play for BB chip surely? + 0.3 to .0.5m there. Price rises/falls may be a factor too. All in all you might end up with a weak midfield for several weeks.

True - but many midfields will go into GW29 with Snoddy, Siggy, Phillips, Barkely etc, and they are the same-ish price combined. At least you'll be able to hand pick your GW29 and onwards players this way.

True, but if Liverpool and Spurs hit form again over those tasty run-ins you will be wanting one of each midfield surely? Risk of getting left behind otherwise.Which will leave 10m for 2 playing mids... and no Sane or Sterling for doubles

Classic Ibra, Kun & Sanchez dilemma - and no matter how you cut the cake it is tricky to get all three and balance the rest of the team.

GW 26 and 28 planning had to really have started 3 weeks ago.

Got similar plan for gw30. With 4 ft till gw 34 and 7 before gw37, you can plan your moves. There is risk involved, but template especially in defence can be used. Ibra is essential, so as Sanchez and Yoshida.
ManCity, Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea attacking assets will a must have too. Good planning first.

    Current team

    Grant Pick
    Holebas Walker McAuley Baines Amat
    Alexis Alli Siggy Philips Fletcher
    Kane Ibra Lukaku

    2 FT.

    Plan is:

    26: Alexis to Mané
    27: Amat to Mawson
28: Alli to Firmino/Cout - Pick to Jaku

Would give me 10 playing in 28.

    Thoughts?

Is this too weak for GW28?
    Heaton
    Baines, Maguire, Mawson, Smith
    Mane, Siggy Phillips, Fletch
    Lukaku

If so, I could try and get a Liv or WH mid in instead, and just suck up having a on-playing defender (would mean shipping Alli, rather than benching)
