One of the more eventful Champions League encounters had everything bar Elvis parachuting in to eat a meat pie in stoppage time. For Fantasy managers, it was a bittersweet experience, as we witnessed the City attack demonstrate power and potential at a time when their assets are off the menu.

Manchester City 5 Monaco 3

Eight goals, bookings galore, a missed penalty and another spot-kick denied when it would usually have resulted in the Monaco goalkeeper being dismissed – apart from all that it was just another match.

And then there was Sergio Aguero rediscovering his form just as his side is likely to miss two of the next three Gameweeks

The Argentinian scored twice, laid on another and was booked for diving when on pretty much any other day he would have earned a penalty.

Both Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane found the net and produced assists, with City’s other goal coming from a John Stones tap-in following a Yaya Toure flick on.

David Silva also provided an assist, while Willy Caballero, again preferred to Claudio Bravo, saved a penalty to atone for an earlier error that led to Monaco’s first-half equaliser.

From a Fantasy perspective, however, this is no time to be considering City assets – they already miss this weekend’s scheduled Manchester derby as their nearest rivals will be playing Southampton in the EFL Cup final.

And even if they were to lose at home to Huddersfield in next Wednesday’s FA Cup replay, thus guaranteeing a Gameweek 28 match with Stoke, their next three fixtures after that are Liverpool at home and Arsenal and Chelsea away.

Small wonder, then, that only three of the squad – Stones, Sterling and Aguero – still enjoy more than 10% ownership figures, while Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and the injured Gabriel Jesus are all in the top 15 for sales this week.

Gameweek 32 looks like being the time to look again at Pep Guardiola’s charges as City have a very attractive run-in and, almost certainly, two double Gameweeks to follow.

That could well put Aguero et al back on our radars, but even then things remain complicated.

The start of that favourable run-in – a home match against Hull City – arrives just three days before a potential Champions League quarter-final tie, making squad rotation yet another factor to consider.

Wait, see and enjoy the ride is probably the best advice on offer as far as Manchester City are concerned at the moment.

Man City XI: Caballero, Sagna, Stones, Otamendi, Fernandinho (Zabaleta 62), Toure, Sane, Silva, De Bruyne, Sterling (Navas 89), Aguero (Fernando 87).
Subs not used: Bravo, Nolito, Delph, Iheanacho.

Will you do Alexis - Liverpool for GW28?

If so then you may as well do it now and hope points come your way sooner rather than later.

If not Alexis - Liverpool for GW28 then may as well hold for sure.

On 9 players atm - considering going down to 8, actually, cos I want to get Eriksen in for Fletcher

      But I'll have at least 10 🙂

Just a lot of pre-planning with bringing in WBA/Everton, luckily having Jaku and Antonio also sitting there, and now getting on Mane quickly.

      Sure you'll be alright

How big a rotation risk is Coutinho ?

Pool have plenty of options and he's under preforming. I'm only got 11 starters in GW26 and probably 10 in GW28, as it is.

How're people looking for gwk 28?

After a few hits I have the current players in my team:

      Foster/Jaku

      Brunt Coleman

      Siggy Mane Phillips Snod

      Lukaku

So 8 starters at the moment, will probably get 2 more in and have a nice round 10 for gwk 28 which I think will be fairly decent!

Bit of planning for the upcoming blanks - hoping to have 10 for GW28.

      Current squad

      Heaton Pickford
      Alonso McAuley Cedric Chambers Amat
      Sanchez Alli Eriksen Philips Capoue
      Ibra Lukaku Benteke

      GW26
      Sanchez > Mane
      Cedric > Robertson

      GW27
      Eriksen > Siggy
      Chambers > Mawson -4

      GW28
      Benteke > Carroll
      Alli > Firmino -4

Anyone else living in fear of Mane?

As a Kane owner, the idea of Ali -> Mane for a -4 grows in appeal each passing day.
Spurs seem inconsistent, don't back them Vs Everton GW27 and I will be doing Ali -> Mane for GW28 anyway.
Plus the more you look at Leicester the more you realise just how bad they are.
Yes Ali could punish me but regardless of how he plays Ali -> Mane GW28 is inevitable and I have Kane for Spurs cover.

      Coleman Alonso Walker McCauley
      Alli Phillips Hazard Coutinho Capoue
      Lukaku (c)

      Bench: Ibra Crouch Amat

      Plans for 28 - Capoue > Siggy + Amat > Fernandez/Robertson. Gives me 8 in 28.

      Well set?

Is managing to get just 8 players for GW28 considered a failure?

Surely having 11 must impact on your players in GW29.

I would love to see the team of someone who'll have 11 in GW28 and can show me their team for GW29.

But the confidence of those on here saying they can have 11 is very high. I'd love to see their team for GW29.

Most are going for around 9-10. I wouldn't go for 11. I think having 3 Everton is key and then maybe 1 from the others. Even 2 from Liverpool.

I'll have 8 with no hits. That'll be par for the course I think, and enough to cover your rank and avoid a major red imo. 11 would lead to massacring my squad for following gw's .

Sterling is a thought. Any other mid at that range. Or might go low for getting Sanchez back again.

Cheers. Its just a thought anyway. I might go for a cheeky punt on Costa this week and have 10 for that week. I'm always biased about my Chelsea decisions and it works some time but enjoy watching the match for it regardless.

      Jako (Hennessey)
      Alonso Brunt McAuley Holebas (Holgate)
      Hazard Eriksen Alli Phillips (DeRoon)
      Kane Lukaku (Ibrahimovic)

      GW27: save FT
      GW28:Hazard, Alli, DeRoon -> Mané, Lanzin/Snoddyi, Siggy (-4)

Gives me 9 starters for GW28 which feels about right. Any other advice welcomed.

      Need some advice.
      I’ve got 1FT 2.1m ITB

      Pickford | Heaton*
      Baines* | PVA | Pieters |Brunt* | Amat(x)
      Eriksen | Mane* | Pogba | Stanislas(?)* | Capoue
      Zlatan | Kane | Lukaku*

Currently got 5 players for GW28 plus Stan if he gets a game.
Really want Alonso, I know Alonso has no game in 28 but he’d be in for the season.

      Big help needed please lads.
One FT, 4 non playing players for this week

      Boruc
      Funes cahill
      Capoue firmino siggy
      Lukaku Carroll Kane

      Pogba Sanchez Rojo Amat

Is this a simple case of pogba and rojo to two playing players in gw28 and be done with it? Or perhaps a -8 shifting on Amat/Sanchez too, or even wildcarding? Only have 6 gw28 players currently.

      Any help much appreciated, thanks.

      GWK 28 - Me 10 players, Him 2 players
