Jamie Vardy resumes the party as Leicester City revive their title-winning performance levels to run Liverpool ragged, while Philippe Coutinho provides the only bright spark for the humbled Reds.

On the Rise

Jamie Vardy
The hat-trick in Gameweek 15 against Manchester City came from nowhere and, several months later, Vardy again seemingly plucked a performance from thin air to blitz Liverpool.

Chasing and hassling throughout, the hunger and energy was back in Vardy’s game. But that was coupled with two clinical finishes, reminiscent of his 24-goal title-winning campaign.

In Fantasy terms, our interest remains on ice. Judgement on any potential Leicester City revival has to be reserved until we assess them against Marco Silva’s Hull City, a team that will surely be more savvy to the Foxes’ ploys, shutting down the space behind their defence to limit Vardy’s impact.

A full-blown renaissance would be a major development which could possibly unlock Vardy and accompanying Leicester assets as options.

But priced at 9.6, Vardy would remain a major investment risk given the stability and consistency now on offer from the “big four” strikers.

Christian Fuchs
A superb assist, two chances created overall and a pair of attempts on goal – Fuchs was another to roll back to his 2015/16 form, reminding us of what might have been.

Returning four assists and 15 clean sheets last term, the Austrian was a powerful asset and, like Patrick van Aanholt for Sunderland in 2015/16, always our go-to option when the fixtures lent themselves to Leicester defensive investment.

Monday’s display suggested that this could be the case again, as he powered down the flank to support his winger, with Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton swapping throughout.

A King Power Stadium double-header approaches that brings both Stoke City and Sunderland over Gameweeks 30-31 and may yet see the Leicester rearguard make a late claim for consideration.

Philippe Coutinho
The Brazilian was another asset to emerge from Monday’s clash offering the suggestion of a revival.

Previously established as our preferred route into Liverpool’s midfield, Coutinho had been de-railed by an injury and then superseded by team-mates.

Sadio Mane went into Monday’s encounter acquired by more than 366,000 new owners and with 111,000+ armband backers.

But while the Senegalese huffed and puffed without effect to be replaced, along with Adam Lallana, on 66 minutes, it was left to Coutinho to drag Liverpool back into the match.

He obliged with a second-half strike that was to prove academic. However, it still marked Coutinho’s first goal and attacking points since the Gameweek 11, ending a run of eight appearances and seven starts without returns.

Perhaps more significantly, Coutinho amassed a total of six efforts on goal, three from inside the box – more than any other midfielder in Gameweek 26 and tied with Harry Kane and Christian Benteke overall.

In terms of goal threat, it equalled Coutinho’s best performances of the season – indication perhaps that another power shift in the Reds’ midfield is imminent.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

A question folks, if Phillips is confirmed out would you (note options B&C allow an additional player for GW28):
    A. Play Funes Mori
    B. Phillips to Lanzini (-4)
    C. Amat to Mawson (-4)

    Heaton (Pickford)
Alonso Brunt Maguire (Funes Mori, Amat)
    Sterling Eriksen Siggy Phillips (deRoon)
    Kun Ibra Lukaku

2FTs Benteke + Hazard to Aguero + Sterling (assuming DGW)

    Cheers

I would go with C - Mawson has kind fixtures and has attacking potential

I'm leaning towards that also and can finally rid myself of Amat. Plus I can get in Lanzini/Snoddy for Phillips the week after if I wish on a FT. Thanks!!

Oh yes, it makes life so much easier - definitely restores normal service and everyone's plans for dealing with the blanks become relevant again 🙂

It also saves the TC for Sanchez later on, which I think is the sensible thing to do. But if City get a DGW, I'm pretty sure I'm going to use it on Kun

How will you captain Aguero the following week? He gets a DGW in 27 if City beat Huddersfield. No game in 28 but 2 in 27. Ibra cap was on the cards but this changes it.

And I bottomed - it's insane how many times that happens :). Need your help!

Hello everyone, need advice on a couple of things:

    1. Do people think -8 is ok to get two City assets in this GW, or is it stretching it?
    2. Is 8-9 players enough for GW28, or should I be striving for 10 atleast?
    3. Thoughts on TC Kun?

Additionally, I think I've finally managed to get the proper options for getting in City assets, just need to finalize one (hopefully with your help):

    A. Costa + Alli + Eriksen -> Kun + Sterling + Sane
    B: Costa + Fonte + Eriksen -> Kun + Sterling/Sane + Mawson/Hull defender

I'm leaning towards B, which make my team look like this:

    Heaton (Foster)
    Coleman McAuley Mawson* (Baines Love)
    Siggy Alli Sterling/Sane* Snoddy (Fletcher)
    Ibra Kun* Kaku

What do you guys think - any advice would be welcome!

1, Stretching it, City would have a blank and poor fixture after the blank.

      2. 8-9 is fine

      3. Risky i'm waiting for an Ibra or Sanchez DGW.

Costa + Fonte > Kun + Mawson (or Hull defender) for a hit this GW
Eriksen to a Liverpool mid with next GW

Assuming you can afford those moves.

Thanks! Sounds like the ideal way to stagger them - just checked and ofcourse I can't afford that 🙁

          Can you afford ?

          Costa + Fonte + Eriksen -> Kun + Sterling + Mawson/Hull defender

Then Sterling to Liverpool mid next week.

Gives you the same team for after the blanks, but adds the Sterling DGW for a hit which has a decent chance of paying off.

Yeah, that is my B option 🙂 - I can do that for a -8 this week, which is basically what I'm leaning towards. He could be a good punt for the DGW

And then change Sterling to a Liv mid sounds like a good idea for GW28

        Thanks!

My concern is what BITM2007 says above, that maybe -8 is overkill and the returns (considering their fixtures after) might not be worth it. The only way I see this paying off is if i also TC Kun

Assuming he kills it - otherwise I'll just stop playing for this season 🙂

    3. jia you

      just my thoughts:
      1. If you plan on TC Kun, why not!
      2. 8-9 is plenty imo as long as you have the big hitters covered (I don't see the appeal in getting a full XI out to be honest)
      3. I think I will. If he is rested tomorrow or just plays the first half (hopefully netting a brace in the process). We might not get a better chance and I want to use my BB in the big DGW37 (I think it will be).

      B. Holding a Spurs is a good option and as you said earlier Mawson looks a good pick with SWA upcoming fix.

So how would you go about getting CIty assets?

Can't transfer Ibra. If it's Lukaku, I'll have to get him back in GW 28 as he doesn't blank

        What do you think?

    5. Blue&White85

      1. I'd only go as far as -4 personally.
      2. Yes, 9 is a decent number.
      3. I'm going for triple captain Aguero.

For your A & B, I wouldn't do either. Don't sell Fonte as he has a game in week 28 and I'm not keen on Sane as I think he is the biggest rotation risk in City's midfield and it wouldn't surprise me if Eriksen / Alli scored decent against Everton.

If you are going to get a Man City midfielder I'd do rather have Sterling than Sane and I'd sell Alli and keep Eriksen. I'd choose Sterling over Sane as he appears to be less of a rotation risk. I'd also suggest keeping Fonte for week 28.

I've decided against putting Sterling. Although I'd like to have him, I would need to take a -4 to get him for Hazard. Then, in 28 I'd need to do a -4 to take him out for Mane. I don't think there's any value in that so I'm going with only Aguero for the double week.

Azpi Brunt Smith Funes Mori Amat
    Sanchez Mane Alli Eriksen Phillips
    Costa Lukaku Barnes

    1FT 3.0 ITB

I would keep Kane as he seems to have a vein of form (especially in the London area).
Lukaku will be against the best defence of the league and he apparently struggles against the strong teams.
Costa has got the consistency. Hazard is better at the Bridge than on the road.

Finally my opinion is that you need to have at least 2 City players as a lot of the casual players kept their City assests even through the GW26 blank. Going without a minimum coverage would cancel the ground you made on them over the last GW.

I am toying with the Idea Stoke have Middlesbourgh at home and play City who have a crappy defense
It is important not to have tunnel vision in this game

    Morning.
    This is killing me.
    Ibra and Snoddy
    Or
    Costa and Barkley?
Essentially I have to lose one of those two strikers to get Kun.

    1. LakhaneeFC
      • 9 Years

      Costa and Barkley for me.

I assume you've kept Ibra through the blank just for his game against Bournemouth - no point selling him now. Barkley and Snoddy are collateral damages - don't think either will be a player you cry about later.

Sorry. Maybe that post was confusing. I did indeed keep Ibra for this game. But should I do:
Ibra and Alli to Kun and Barley
Or Costa and Alli to Kun and Snoddy

    Foster - - Valdes
Alonso Walker Gibson - - Yoshida Smith
Alli Mane Phillips Snodgrass - - Capoue
    Costa Kaku Defoe
    ITB : 3.9 M.... 1 freebie

    Foster,
    Mawson, Pieters, Cahill, Coleman
    Sterling (c) Hazard, Alli,
    Defoe, Lukaku, Costa

Saving him for gw 28 has just been cruel.
Sort of like me saving Hazard for the home game to Hull instead of getting Sanchez weeks before, then finally selling him, not being able to afford Sanchez, and watching Hazard go on a run.

People are making way too big a deal about City's "tough fixtures" after the double/blank

Are people really suggesting they won't score against Pool - who are awful at the back - and Arsenal - who are awful in big matches?

Only Chelsea away looks tough in my book. If I get Aguero in he'll certainly be staying for the Pool fixture.

If you are short of player for GW28 bringing in 4 players who blank seems odd.

In addition to Ibra bring one of Sterling and Aguero and captain him (TC him if it appeals to you).

Is Eriksen ---> Sterling worth -4? I'm thinking probably no. Eriksen is capable of returns against any opposition, especially at home. Sterling would probably have to score a 2 or 3 goals for it to be worth it after the hit. Do you agree?

In my eyes it's worth it only if you plan on keeping Sterling and not getting Eriksen back.

      For -4 he has to:
Outscore Eriksen + the guy (Siggy? Liverpool mid?) you'd bring in for GW 28 in his place.

If you're getting Eriksen back (basically -8) Sterling has to beat him with 8 points. One assist from Eriksen and that might be a tall order.

If it's a part of fundraising for your TC it's a whole different story.
