Manchester City finally book their place in the FA Cup quarter finals as they hit five for the second match running and confirm their double Gameweek 27.

Man City 5 Huddersfield 1

A Sergio Aguero brace and fine performances from Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane broke a spirited Huddersfield at the second time of asking.

It also sparked an overnight rush to buy into the consequent double Gameweek for City, who travel to Sunderland at the weekend before entertaining Stoke City next Wednesday.

Aguero leapt from ninth to fifth for players purchased with more than 36,000 swooping in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, Sterling rose to second (from fourth) with over 28,000 investing overnight. Both John Stones and Sane also enjoyed an increase in transfers among Fantasy managers keen to exploit the short-term appeal of Pep Guardiola’s players.

And short-term it is. A blank Gameweek 28 will follow, with Liverpool at home and away matches at Arsenal and Chelsea to come after that.

The victory over Huddersfield was a very City performance – at times irresistible in attack, often incoherent in defence.

The recalled Claudio Bravo looked like a man giving up goalkeeping for Lent when he dived over a Huddersfield shot to give the visitors a shock early lead.

But when Sane equalised from a Sterling assist and Aguero scored from the penalty spot following a foul on Nicolas Otamendi, the tie was only ever going to end one way.

A Pablo Zabaleta tap-in from an Aguero cut-back before the break confirmed the primacy of their attack, although the visitors still had good chances either side of half-time as City’s defence once again failed to impress.

Sterling set up Aguero for his second and substitutes Kelechi Iheanacho and Jesus Navas combined to round off the scoring at the death as a tired Huddersfield finally capitulated.

Aguero (12.7) now has four goals and three assists from his last four starts in all competitions and his high price is clearly not an issue for some Fantasy managers.

Guardiola was certainly keen to talk him up post-match.

“It’s the best Sergio Aguero ever. Today the performance was amazing. The runs were at the right moment and the right tempo. His performance was top.”

Sterling, however, is looking particularly consistent – he has either scored or assisted in his last six matches in all competitions – and his 7.8 price tag is rather more easily afforded by those with less cash to splash.

Let’s also not forget Sane, though, whose opener took his tally to four goals and three assists in his last seven starts across all competitions. Setting you back 7.5 and with 1% ownership, the German looks well set to emerge as an enticing differential for the double.

Manchester City X: Bravo, Zabaleta, Stones, Otamendi, Clichy, Fernandinho, Sane (Navas 81), De Bruyne (Delph 75), Garcia, Sterling, Agüero (Iheanacho 79).
Subs not used: Caballero, Sagna, Fernando, Silva.

    G2G?

Is the bench in correct order? Or should Chambers sit ahead of Yoshida?

Aside from Aguero for TC, I don't really see the value of any hits for extra city players.

The cost of the hit is likely to cancel out a potential assist, so you're at evens and left with a player with fairly poor fixtures following gw28.

United Spurs and Everton players aguegably will score similar in total across next 3 gws. Just Aguero for free here (TC).

But look at last night. They could conceivably score 8-10 goals over these 2 DGW games. And the likes of Eriksen could easily get 2 points vs Everton and he has a blank GW28 too. There are points to be made

You should think Sterling/Sané could get more than an assist - if they play both that is (big if??)

Possibly. Don't forget many need cash to afford Aguero, and Sterling and Sane are priced nicely to enable him.

    A. Lukaku, Hazard and Snodgrass out. Aguero, Sterling and Sane in. Minus 8. Bring back Lukaku and Coutinho in week after.
    B. Lukaku and Hazard out. Aguero and Sane in. Minus 4. Same moves.

Basically will Sterling score four more points against Sunderland and Stoke than Snodgrass against Chelsea and Bournemouth.

I would think so, and B makes the most sense. Plus, Snoddy gives you a starter for GW28 as well

B would actually mean Sterling for DGW + Snoddy for Bournemout + a transfer saved vs A

In my opinion, TC on Aguero is a good choice because:

    1) We don't know how will other DGWs pan out
    2) We don't know who will be injured in time of other DGW or will the big hitters be in form
    3) How much "weight" will the later DGW hold on relevant teams, maybe everything will be resolved by then
    4) Aguero & Man City are finally hitting form

    5) Most important one - In the future DGW it is almost certain that big hitters will have a huge ownership, they already have it now. However, Aguero now is very expensive and everybody cannot afford him so I don't expect more than around 500k purchases this week (maybe even not that enough) which will make him a differential. You could potentially gain a lot if you just captain him this round but if you TC him and he does good, your rank would rocket up. Later on you could just captain the obvious choice (Sanchez/Ibra) and you will not lose that much because ownership will be high and everybody will captain the obvious choice.

If you also carefully planned GW 28 and you can field 9+ players these 2 weeks could be a game changer.

    Opinions please 🙂

We know there will be at least 2 DGW's after this. One for TC and one for BB. The top clubs will be in these DGW's. Aguero is a game time risk, a better opportunity is likely to come up

Don't forget, someone like Alexis/Ibra/Kane is able to score double digit scores in a single GW in any case. No rule that says you can't TC them then.

Alexis average for his double digits scores are 14.5 pts. Not bad.

        1. Max City
          • 9 Years
          9 years, 4 months ago

Ibra's DGW will face bur, tot, mci, sou.
          All is away games.

Kane's DGW will be either lei, cry or MUN, cry

The easier DGW fixtures probably is Alexis, with SUN, sto combined with either sou, LEI.

Do you see any of those combinations will result more points than sun, STO?

    5. Athletic Bilbo
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 4 months ago

Conversely you could cap Aguero to cover the few who TC him and still climb the rankings. That gives you the choice of TC Kane, Ibra, Alexis etc when the rest of the doubles roll around, and those choices would be a lot less risk-free (i.e. Pep-free)

If you swap Haz for Sterling/Sane, I guess you still have 8 players for GW28 which could easily be 9 without a hit if you swap Sterling/Sane out again

          So it's basically a -4 hit over 2 weeks and 9 players for GW28 - which isn't that bad
