A trio of Josh Kings saved the Gameweek for the ScoutCast regulars, steering Jonty, Andy and myself to respectability, despite a scattering of ill-fated transfer hits. Meanwhile, AZ drops in with his own unique solution to the curtailed Gameweek 28, as he deals a controversial early Wildcard to help prepare for the choppy waters.

The Wildcard is a key focus of this week’s episode, as we extend our recent Hot Topic to the ScoutCast airwaves, arguing the optimum time to activate the most precious of chips.

Elsewhere, we spare a moment to weigh up the “essential” status of the aforementioned Cherries midfielder, consider the recent unrest surrounding Sanchez and Lukaku and discuss the fall-out from Kane’s twanged ankle.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

What is latest news on Firmino and Baines? 0ft and 1.2itb.

    Heaton
    Alonso Coleman Baines*
    Mane Siggy King Firmino*
    Lukaku (c) Costa Kun

    Grant T.caroll McAuley Yoshida

Baines should be fine. But i have a feeling that vs. Hull, Koeman has other good options, who can fill in for Baines, that he can afford to put Baines on the bench, or stay home and rest.

England squad is so depressing. I keep searching through the midfielders trying to find anyone 'decent' or 'solid' enough to play in the middle. I can see Alli and Sterling who're good but the rest are just shockers like Redmond and Livermore. :'(

    1. Somalion

Compare to the French squad, which has left out all of Benzema, Martial, Coman, Lacazette, Bakayoko and Laporte.

The difference in depth is striking

Yeah or the German or Spanish squads. Cazorla has barely had a look in his career. Would've been first on the England team sheet from 18 if he was born in Slough.

Aye, while the Germans somehow have the likes of Timo Horn, Werner, Plattenhardt, Orban, Weiser, Stark etc who are still uncapped.

It also helps when Jogi Löw seemingly has a bottomless pool of young midfield talent to choose from...

Goretzka, Weigl, Dahoud, Sané, Kimmich, Brandt, Can, Draxler, Gnabry, Amiri, Henrichs, Meyer, Geis, Arnold, Gerhardt, Seguin, Havertz, Ochs, Barkok, Öztunali .....

All around 23 and below. Ridiculous depth which can only be rivalled by France at the moment.

England have and always had excellent international players
Its bad management and lack of real support from the fans and the media that has let them down time and time again

I am very optimistic about the Republic of Ireland's chances if you seen our team sheet lately you would go out and throw yourself under a bus if you think the England players are bad

At least we have a few more PL based players knocking about. Could actually get a starting XI of PL players out for Ireland now.

But they're not comparable. RoI and England have vastly different resource levels, populations and expectations. It is not unreasonable to expect England to compete with France, Germany and Spain. Of course those teams have had poor tournaments in recent years, the difference is, they've also had fantastic tournaments in recent years.

How footballers can blame the media is beyond me. Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suárez were mauled by the press after the 'wink' and the bite, yet somehow they didn't collapse into quivering wrecks. I know they're two special players, but you can't tell me every English player for the last 20 years reads The Sun everyday and starts crying.

I said after Iceland I was done...but what else is there to do in an international break :'(

Tbh, while the English infrastructure is far superior to that of Ireland, I think those of Germany, Spain and France are stronger than England's. Not entirely in a different league, but I think on the whole when you compare squads it's a fairly noticeable difference (though I know Spain have had a dodgy time of it as they leave the Xavi/Iniesta age)

Agreed. He is a great goalkeeper and makes good performances on a consistent basis. Sunderland will go for the win though, therefore there will be plenty of goal scoring chances from both teams. Low expectations of a clean sheet...

Maybe but he could be back after the break so is it worth it.
Is double Liverpool and hammers midfield ideal even if fixtures look good. Lose Antonio for Alli? No point losing Snod just end up with bench issues.
