Did you think your summer would be dull without fantasy football? Fear not. The developers of Fantasy Premier League have launched a brand new game called Eliteserien Fantasy.

The game will feature the Norwegian top divison. The site is currently only in Norwegian but it is fairly easy to register and use if you are used to FPL.

The concept and rules are the same as FPL, the only differences being no chips and there’s a  ‘man in the stand’  for bonus points.

The season will have 30 Gameweeks between April and November. A third of the season will be played during the off-season in FPL so this game could soften the summer blow for Fantasy Footy junkies.

Already 58 players have  joined the FFS league, including FPL legend Ville Rönkä. The league code is: 3769-1041

In this article I will take a look at the 16 teams and the players to keep an eye on.

Rosenborg

Having won ‘the double’ two seasons in a row, there is no doubt who is the gigantic fish in this pond. Both league titles have been comfortable with a tally of 69 points, an average of staggering 2.3 points per game. The Rosenborg domination is set to continue with the acquisition of Nicklas Bendtner (12.5). Not only is the insane Dane the most expensive player in the game, he currently also sits in over half the teams.

Mixed results and a few injuries during the pre season, there remains uncertainty around the form of their key players. Rosenborg meet Brann in a face off between last year’s top two teams on March 29. This may give us some answers, or pose more questions as it will be the first of four games Rosenborg play in 10 days. This fixture congestion could be a good reason to overlook the pricey Bendtner for now.

Top 3 targets: Mike Jensen (10.5 MID), Fredrik Midtsjo (8.5 MID), Nicklas Bendtner (12.5 FWD)

Brann

After a shock relegation despite being title contenders in 2014, Brann bounced straight back up the following year. They used that momentum and enjoyed a successful return to the top division, eventually finishing second. Brann’s excellent defence is expected to do well this season as well, especially as Piotr Leciejewski (5.5) might be the best goalkeeper in the league. Early investment in Brann players could pay dividends as their opening few fixtures seem favourable.

Top 3 targets: Fredrik Haugen (9.0 MID), Vito Wormgoor (5.5 DEF), Torgeir Børven (9.0 FWD)

Odd

Starting last season with six consecutive clean sheets, Odd laid the foundations for what turned out to be a third place finish and Europa League qualification. The last 24 games only saw three additional clean sheets but Odd will nonetheless provide excellent defensive options. Espen Ruud (6.5) might prove to be the most essential player in the game. To go along with his nine clean sheets, the right back also managed five goals and eight assists last season.

Top 3 targets: Espen Ruud (6.5 DEF), Fredrik Nordkvelle (9.0 MID), Sondre Rossbach (5.5 GK)

Haugesund

Expect the unexpected when Haugesund are playing. One season they battle for the Europa League places, the next they fight for survival. Given they finished fourth last season, this year their assets may be best avoided! Defensively Haugesund are not much to write home about. Their midfielders have to bear the burden if they are to replicate last year’s form.

Top 3 targets: Haris Hajradinovic (7.5 MID), Erik Huseklepp (8.5 MID), Ibrahim Shuaibu (5.0 FWD)

Molde

Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s second period as Molde manager has failed to reach the heights of his first stint at the club thus far. Back then he led Molde to back-to-back titles, whilst his latest reign has resulted in 6th and 5th placed finishes. With a wealth of options in every position, picking the right Molde players could be a minefield. Solskjær’s preferred tactic seems to be resting players from time to time. Heavy investment in Molde’s assets is probably best avoided to start with.

Top 3 targets: Bjorn Sigurdarson (9.0 FWD), Sander Svendsen (8.5 MID), Mattias Mostrom (6.5 MID)

Sarpsborg

A stable mid table team for the last couple of seasons, Sarpsborg normally go about their business quietly. They do not concede many but they do not score that many either. In fact, their most prolific attacker finished 40th in terms of attacking returns last season. Big things are therefore expected of the attacking minded Krepin Diatta (6.0), an easy on the eye Senegalese U20 international who arrived last month. A Sarpsborg defender could be a must have as they managed 13 clean sheets in the last campaign, with nine of them coming on home soil.

Top 3 targets: Krepin Diatta (6.0 MID), Sigurd Rosted (5.5 DEF), Jonas Lindberg (5.5 FWD)

Strømsgodset

After being a top side since the beginning of the decade, Strømsgodset found themselves finishing mid table last season. They produce fluent attacking play and are a joy to watch, especially at home. Jonathan Parr (6.0) provides us with a potential OOP option. Listed as a defender, the former Crystal Palace and Ipswich left back played a lot on the left wing last autumn. The signing of the experienced left back Stian Ringstad (5.5) could mean a permanent shift to the wing for Parr.

Top 3 targets: Jonathan Parr (6.0 DEF), Marcus Pedersen (10.5 FWD), Lars Vilsvik (6.0 DEF)

Viking

There is not much buzz around Viking at the moment. Kwesi Appiah (7.0) has been signed on loan from Crystal Palace. Despite only being 26, this will be the striker’s sixteenth club in his senior career. Whether he can settle in and finally make it count remains to be seen. With an unfavourable set of fixtures to start the season, overlooking Viking options for the opening might be the best solution.

Top 3 targets: Kwesi Appiah (7.0 FWD), Julian Ryerson (4.5 DEF) Samuel Adegbenro (7.5 MID)

Aalesund

Highest goalscorer from last season still in the league this term is Mos (8.5). He will undoubtably be key this year as well but he is not the only threat Aalesund pose. Most of their goals in the pre season have come from set pieces. Centre back Mantyla has scored three goals without even starting a game but it is another centre back stealing the limelight. Daniel Gretarsson (5.0) has also scored three goals from his four starts this winter. However, Aalesund do concede a lot of goals so any defensive investment has to be purely because of their set piece threat.

Top 3 targets: Mos (8.5 FWD), Edwin Gyasi (7.5 MID), Daniel Gretarsson (5.0 DEF)

VÃ¥lerenga

Being the only representation from the capital, Vålerenga have failed to live up to expectations for a good few years. This season they have hired the services of former Celtic manager Ronny Deila. An attacking minded leader, Deila made his name at Strømsgodset where he took the team to league glory in 2013. After years of struggle to get permission and finances to build their own stadium on their side of the city, Vålerenga will finally be moving to their new home mid season. This will likely give them a solid boost throughout the season.

Top 3 targets: Ghayas Zahid (10.5 MID), Mohammed Abdellaoue (9.5 FWD), Markus Nakkim (5.0 DEF)

Sogndal

Gilbert Koomson (7.5) was the only assister in the league to reach double figures last season. However, that is a steep price tag for a player in a team that most likely will be in for a relegation battle. Sogndal had a good defence last season but the latest results in pre season do not exactly look encouraging. Still, if they can replicate some of that defensive form then they have several decent budget options in their team.

Top 3 targets: Matias Dyngeland (4.5 GK), Bjørn Utvik (4.5 DEF), Gilbert Koomson (7.5 MID)

Lillestrøm

Celebrating their 100 years anniversary, Lillestrøm will be hoping they avoid the dogfight this time around. They were dead and buried with five games to play but managed to survive by collecting 11 points from those games. Most of the players are very generously priced, probably reflected by last year’s finish. Lillestrøm should be competing for a place in the upper half of the table. If they manage to do that then there are a few potential bargains in their squad. Daniel Fernandes (4.0) has impressed in pre season, if he can nail done a starting spot then that provides us with an excellent budget goalkeeper.

Top 3 targets: Daniel Fernandes (4.0 GK), Bajram Ajeti (6.5 FWD), Chigozie Udoji (6.0 MID)

Tromsø

Defensively Tromsø are not a good unit. The onus will be on their attacking play. People will recognise Morten Gamst Pedersen (5.5) from his time at Blackburn. After struggling with injuries last season, the set piece specialist is set to claim a place in the centre of midfield. Some calmness in the middle of the park may be exactly what Tromsø need as their passing accuracy of 68.7 % was the worst in the league.

Top 3 targets: Aron Sigurdarson (6.5 MID), Sloboan Vuk (7.0 FWD), Morten Gamst Pedersen (5.5 MID)

Stabæk

Stabæk were favourites to go down in 2015 but thanks to the heroics of Bob Bradley they managed to finish third. During that summer they lost top scorer Adama Diomande to Hull, whilst Bradley left before the 2016 season. Stabæk barely recovered from those losses and somehow just about managed to survive. They are in for another tough season but they do have a couple of cheap prospects to keep an eye on.

Top 3 targets: Moussa Njie (5.5 MID), Luc Kassi (6.0 MID), Hanche-Olsen (4.5 DEF)

Kristiansund

Thirteen years after the club was formed, Kristiansund won the second tier and gained promotion to the top division for the first time. The promotion campaign was thanks to a good defence and a red hot striker. Daouda Bamba (6.5) scored 20 and assisted twice in 28 games. The Ivorian is young and fearless, and is sure to be amongst the goals also in this league.

Top 3 targets: Daouda Bamba (6.5 FWD), Aliou Coly (4.5 DEF), Sean McDermott (4.0 GK)

Sandefjord

Also gaining promotion prior to this season, Sandefjord are favourites to go straight back down. Genuine fantasy options are therefore far and few between, however they might provide a couple of bench fodder options. Seven defeats and no clean sheets in nine pre season games tells they are in for a very rough ride.

Top 3 targets: Erik Mjelde (6.0 MID), Andre Sødlund (4.5 MID), Flamur Kastrati (6.0 FWD)

TC, would you do Zahid > Sigurdarson to then do 6.5 striker to Moa?

        - I heard Moa is injury prone? Is this right or did he just have one bad injury?
        - Are Moa and Sigurdarson on pens for their teams?
        - If you wouldn't do those moves, which 6.5 striker would you keep with Zahid? People have suggested Lehne Olsen or Omoi. Your thoughts?

Moa has struggled with different injuries for years which has hampered his career. When he's fit he will give you goals though. With the pre season he has had it would take a brave man to ignore him.

Not sure about who takes the pens for Tromsø. I would probably pick Omoi if you need a 6.5 striker. Decent form and two good fixtures to start off with.

Sigurdarson takes penalties for Tromsø, at least last season he did, and i think he will continue to do that unless that new forward is a penaltytaker expert (Vuk).

As far as I know Sigurdarson are on pens. Daniel Fredheim Holm is on pens for Vålerenga, but he is out for 6 weeks and will struggle to get back in the team with all the new signings. Pretty sure Moa will be on them now.

Meling is injured (Hedenstad better option). Wormgoor better than Nouri. Kirkeskov waste of space (get Vilsvik instead). Orlov is useless.

I'd say Nouri is better than Wormgoor IF he starts. Easily one of the best players at Brann.

Wouldn't kall Kirkeskov a waste of space either as he has lots of attacking potential, but 5.5 for an Aalesund defender is too much.

              Yes, Orlov is useless.

Can't see Nouri starting to be honest.

Gretarsson for .5 less is a better option than Kirkeskov if he wants to have an AAFK defender.

I'm not sure if Gretarsson is nailed and Kirkeskov is a great threat from FKs, but I agree. Not worth the price and better options.

Nouri was the best Brann player by a mile when he came on against Rosenborg. I just can't see how Lars Arne Nilsen can keep him on the bench when he's head and shoulders above the alternatives (maybe a bit harsh on Jonsson, haven't seen him yet).

Double Lillestrøm defence (Fernandes/Kind Mikalsen) is too much for my liking, but Sandefjord are likely to get relegated wo maybe it will pay off.

Voted Pedersen for captain, but replaced him with Bendtner myself (and of course captaining him).

        Goalkeepers :

If you are looking for a budget keeper I reccomend you to go for Fernandes, Origi and Dyngeland. My pick would be Fernandes/Origi as that spot is a bit unsure. Seems for now like fernandes will be the no 1. Lillestrom SK is a defensively focused team that should earn some CS and save points from the start of the season. Lillestrom dont offer many exciting players in different positions so theese 2 are in my team.

        Reccomended : Fernandes, Origi, Dyngeland

More expensive picks : Leicejewski, Rossbach

        Defenders :

The top notch defenders in the game is Espen Ruud, Vegard Hedenstad and Lars Villsvik imo. Ruud is on free kicks and corner kicks. Hedenstad should also be able to take som free kicks. Villsvik has delivered great attacking returns for tha past 2 seasons. Given the fixtures from gw 2 I would definetely have Ruud in my team, while villsvik also could be a great option. Rosenborg has many players and a tight schedule.

In the mid price range Lundstrøm is among the best players for me. Pacey and great assist potential for a team which should provide a few clean sheets as well. Sigurd Rosted could also be a great option but I think his price is to steep, when I dont see him offer other thing than CS. His team had many CS last season though. I Also got to mention Simen Kind Mikalsen, priced at 5.0. He has a history of scoring goals and already scored a couple during pre season. Nailed down, plays bot CB and LB. Really a threat from set pieces. I estimate him to score 5-6 goals this season.

In the lower price range (4.0-4.5) There are a few standout options. Julian Ryerson could be a great choice. It seems he is nailed at right back, but my guess is that he will play in the midfield. There are though some uncertainites about Viking FK and they got really bad fixtures in the start of the season. Aliou Coly could be a nice pick if Kristiansund can take the level as they are newly promoted. The Tromsø full backs Hans Nordbye And kent are antonsen also seem like good choices as teams don’t like to travel to the north. Tromsø are usually a tight team at home and the full backs could offer som goal threat as well. Bjørn Inge Utvik from Sogndal should be a good choice too. At 4.0 there are not much to get imo. But you got Moe (Stb) who I think will nail a back spot. Stabæk is known for playing pretty open football, but he could help you using your funds elsewhere. El Amrani could also do that, but as it looks for now, he will probably be benched.

My recommended Defence : Ruud, Lundstrøm, Mikalsen, Antonsen, Moe

Other good picks : Hedenstad, Villsvik, Rosted, Nordbye, Utvik, Semb Berge

        Midfielders :

This is a bit tricky as top choice Helland is very injury prone, have a tight schedule and could be rotated a lot from the start of the season. The standout choices in the top bracket is for me ghayas Zahid and Mike Jensen.

In the mid price bracket there is some worries. Samuel Adegbenro is almost Vikings attack on his own and could play oop. On the other side Vikings team could be pretty average this year and they got some pretty tricky fixtures in the start of the season.
Rafik Zekhnini is a young wonder boy. I don’t like him. He is great watchin but I am not sure he will produce the end product we demands. He is also very injury prone.
In Aalesund there have been some issues around Edwin Gyasi but he is one of them players who can really explode.
Gilbert koomsom plays for a mediocre side (Sogndal ) but got great skills and could be involved in a lot
Also look out for muhammed keita who signed for Vålerenga today but hasn’t been priced yet.

Some of the cheaper midfielders looks pretty exciting. For Stabæk both brochmann and Njie looks really good prospects. I like Njie the most and he could really well score a lot of points for us this season

Alexander Sødlund(4.5) at sandefjord looks like a great enabler. My guess is he will start half of their games this season in an advanced midfield position.

My Reccomended midfield : Zahid, Jenssen, Koomson, Njie, Jradi

Others worth consider : Helland, Adegbenro, Gyasi, Brochmann, Mjelde, Diatta, Sigurdarsson, Aasen

        Attackers :

As mentioned Rosenborg could be in for some roation in the start of the season. That makes me wonder if Bendtner is worth the investment. Picked by very many players it could be risky to go without him but I think I will wait a couple of gw before I bring him in.
Mohammed Abdealloue Has had a great preseason as I a no brainer for me. Excellent player who really could benefit from Ronny Deilas management at Vålerenga.
Hes brother Mostafa at Aalesund is also a really good poacher and is worth considering. He plays for a pretty poor team but scored many goals last season.
Olivier Occean could also be a good pick.

In the cheaper bracket Vuk looks like a good buy, as do Ajeti, Lindberg and Omoijuanfo.

My recommended front 3 : Moa, Mos, Lindberg

Could also be considered : Occean, Ajeti, Omoijuanfo, Vuk

stolas played wing back in a 3-5-2 last season. Haugesunds got a new coach and will probably play 4 atb this season with stolas at left back. I also think Haugesund will perform pretty bad this season. He is exciting off course but think he is priced to steep. But not a bad guy to have in your team

Is Jonas Johansen expected to be a starter again for Tromsö?
Or did he lose his starting place permanently when he injured himself halfthrough last season, seemed to be benched when he healed up. I'm seeking for my 4.5m 5th mid.

Lundstrøm for Vålerenga seems like a good option, also scored a goal in a pre-season game a couple of weeks back.

Lundström, Kirkeskov and Stølås for offensive contributions.

If you can, I would be interested to see something about Lilleström and Krogstad v Matthew. On paper looks like both are playing CM, former on set pieces, but latter gets all the points.

This is a small, statistical review of the first two gameweeks in Eliteserien. I am going to talk about which teams looked better in terms of attacking and defending numbers, expected goals results of matches, which players have great/awful stats (expected goals (xG) and expected assists (xA)), average positions of players so we can understand which fullback is more advanced, which player is the central point of their team's attack etc. If I knew how to give links on texts (instead of copying the full link) that would make reading this comment so much easier but I don't know how to do it, unfortunately, so please put up with bad formatting and please write the solution if you know anything about formatting comments. If you like the content, I can make a review each 2-3 GWs so everyone can learn a little bit more about Eliteserien. I am having a lot of fun so far with games coming thick and fast, and I will most probably continue playing the game until the end of season.

If you don't know anything about expected goals, please take a look at Michael Caley and 11tegen11's works. I will start by looking at the alternative league table, where teams are sorted by their net xG (xG for - xG against):

            League Table: http://i.imgur.com/7kVLU02.png

What I can see from the table is that Rosenborg clearly looks like the best team in the league. While Stabaek's matches look entertaining, Lillestrom, Odds and Brann have the best defenses so far, apart from Rosenborg. I will personally stay away from Sandefjord, Aalesund and Haugesund defenders. Molde are a bit lucky so far. Though we can make assumptions like these from the table but I would wait until GW5 to be sure about teams.

Players with best xG per 90 minutes: http://i.imgur.com/UcfYsKw.png
It may, again, not be wise to make assumptions from such small sample sizes bu we can see which players performed best in terms of xG. Considering the shot numbers, Bye, Lindberg, Omo all made good starts. Lord is also good. Kassi, Keita and Njie have the highest expected goal numbers among midfielders. Tagbajumi have the highest xG per shot, and Bendtner follows him.

Players with best xA per 90 minutes: http://i.imgur.com/ED7B0dR.png
Borven is the most creative player so far. Nguen is the most creative midfielder. Midtsjo looks good despite complaints from the guys here. Hedenstad is the new Ruud? Haugen from Viking not so behind with 0.37 xA/90 if you're looking for an attacking fullback.

Players with best xG + xA per 90 minutes (min. 60 minutes): http://i.imgur.com/8GKRoVx.png
Johansen, Borven and Vilhjalmsson all have over 1 xG+xA per 90 minutes so far. Nguen looks like a bargain at 7.0. Lindberg, Bye and Shuaibu all look amazing value for their prices (all under 5.5). Luckily I have two of them already.

            Some observations from pass maps:

Rosenborg: Hedenstad (2) is really looking good and he is likely to prove worthy of his price. A lot of touches for a right back. http://i.imgur.com/rltZ1gI.png (v Sandefjord)
Sarpsborg: Both fullbacks have lots of touches. Lindberg (10) is the focal point of the attack and he does a good job. http://i.imgur.com/X8XO8AB.png (v Sogndal), http://i.imgur.com/bKiwvBG.png (v Aalesund)
Molde: Remmer is the more advanced fullback.
Brann: I expect good things from Haugen (8) and Barmen (29), especially Haugen. He had good numbers last season too. I'll also try to add a Brann defender soon. http://i.imgur.com/y2nIW2y.png (v Tromso), http://i.imgur.com/U2gaH3T.png (v Stromsgodset)
Sogndal: Koomson is the heart of them but we already knew that.
Valerenga: Nasberg (22) looks really advanced and he has good attacking numbers. He could be a good differential at 5.0. Zahid doesn't look convincing. Finne's touch positions are promising. http://i.imgur.com/RFRxPqc.png (v Viking), http://i.imgur.com/0SIVU8o.png (v Haugesund)
Lillestrom: Don't have much to say except to keep an eye on Melgalvis. Somebody asked about Krogstad and Matthew, they look pretty similar in terms of positioning but Matthew have slightly higher numbers. http://i.imgur.com/6mHgG2t.png (v Sandefjord)
Stabaek: They have a lot of possession and their midfield duo do lots of passing. Njie's (11) positioning is promising, he was in similar spot in both games. With good numbers, he's an excellent bargain. http://i.imgur.com/weB2xhM.png (v Sogndal)
Stromsgodset: Don't know why Nguen didn't start against Brann as he was excellent against Haugesund.
Odd: Ruud (2) doesn't have any attacking returns yet but look at his average positions and the size of his circle! Also, Nilsen (18) has the ball a lot. http://i.imgur.com/dqSugJT.png (v Rosenborg), http://i.imgur.com/onpn9s5.png (v Kristiansund)
Viking: They have been unlucky so far but Haugen (28) have good numbers. http://i.imgur.com/r4uBs6g.png (v Valerenga)
            Sandefjord: They are awful.

If you have any questions about specific players, don't hesitate to ask. I hope this comment doesn't get buried under somewhere.

              Some thoughts so far:

              Goalkeepers

              - No clean sheets from the cheap GKs yet. Still have faith in the Fernandes/Dyngeland combo, but if none of the cheap GKs are getting clean sheets I'll get Leciejewski.

              Defenders

              - Ruud and Hedenstad essential at the back IMO
              - Strømsgodset looking rather average. Not sure if Vilsvik is worth it. With good fixtures coming up I'll give him at least 1 more match
              - I'm looking to get a Brann defender if I replace Vilsvik. Rolantsson are sometimes OOP as a winger, but he's not 100% nailed in the team. Should start most games though. Wormgoor and Kristiansen the safe picks.
              - Not 100% sold on Sarpsborg defence. Obviously some goal threat from Rosted, but it doesn't look like they'll keep as many clean sheets as last year. Personally I'll keep Albech (if he isn't injured)
              - Ryerson is the pick out of the 4.5 defenders. I really regret not getting him. He's been shining as an attacking midfielder. Horrible fixtures coming up and not convinced he's nailed on long term, so I don't think I will use a transfer on him yet.
              - As with the goalkeepers no cheap defenders are keeping clean sheets. Utvik looks dangerous from corners and Megalvis and Coly looks dangerous going forward (as expected). None of them worth spending a transfer on yet IMO.
              - Moe a great pick at 4.0. Would have been one of the best picks at 4.5 as well. He's on corners and free kicks (some direct free kicks as well), so he's a steal. Don't expect too many clean sheets though.

              Midfielders

              - The only premium midfielder proving his worth yet is Mike Jensen. With 2 assist and 4 bonus points so far he has scored a total of 16 points. I think most will agree he's the best player in Eliteserien and will continue to pick up points. The question is: will he outscore Midtsjø by a wide margin? I'm not sure. Midtsjø didn't impress in the first match, but looked much more advanced in the second match. I'm keeping Midtsjø for now, but might get Jensen in a few gameweeks. With so few premium midfielders and attackers performing you don't really need the extra 2.0.
              - Zahid and Vålerenga hasn't impressed yet. Good fixture next gameweek though, so I would give him another chance. Keita yet to make a start, but could be a good pick once he nail down a place in the team.
              - Haugen picked up an assist and 3 bonus points yesterday. He's a central part of the Brann attack and on most set pieces. I'd say he's a decent pick, but I still think he's too expensive. With few premium players performing though his price might not matter too much.
              - Molde midfield is very much a rotation nightmare. I'd say stay away. Svendsen scored 8 points for me this GW, but still looking to sell.
              - Odd wingers could get you some points, but they might be rotated every now and then. Zekhnini and Riski first choices, but Diouf might get some game time and there have been some talks about Agdestein being drilled as a winger. Nordkvelle I find a bit expensive (as with Haugen), but wouldn't be surprised to see him pick up a goal or two soon.
              - Koomson finally delivered some points. He's been unlucky so far, could had a lot more. Essential.
              - Nguen and Jevtovic could be really good picks, but still prone to rotation. Jevtovic more nailed with Rashani out, but could still be benched.
              - Hajradinovic and Gyasi could be decent picks at 7.5. Haugesund have goals in them, but I think Shuaibu up front is a much better pick and not keen on doubling yet. Gyasi plays for Aalesund and they simply don't look good.
              - I'm not sure what to say about Trondsen at 7.0. He's on some set pieces and will surely be involved in some of Sarpsborgs goals (they are free scoring at the moment), but as someone mentioned earlier he is more of a dynamo than the creative player.
              - Matthew at 6.1 is really tempting me. He's one of the best players at Lillestrøm and they have been decent yet. He's a central midfielder, so don't expect him to score every match. I believe he is on penalties though, so he's the pick from the 6.0 bunch for me.
              - Njie haven't got any returns yet, but as Goktugerce said above his number does look really good for a 5.5 midfielder.
              - Only 3 players priced at 4.5 have started both matches (or started any of them). Valles, Sørli and Vetlesen. Vetlesen are the youngest player in Eliteserien and I wouldn't expect him to stay in the starting XI. Subbed before 60 minutes this gameweek as well. Valles is probably nailed on, but a defensive midfielder. Sørli have been looking good and is on some set pieces as well, so he's my pick from the bunch. He has some competition though, so don't be surprised if he's benched in the near future.

              Forwards

              - Bendtner. What to say? You'll have to get him sooner rather than later IMO.
              - Occean and Marcus Pedersen will get you some goal. I'm not sure how many goals they'll get and if they will be worth their price tag, but if you own them I'll keep for now. Strømsgodset hasn't impressed though and as most of you know Pedersen could easily been sent of first gameweek.
              - Sigurdarson and Molde has been quite disappointing so far. I'd keep Sigurdarson (I own him myself) for now though, he is one of the few players I'd say is pretty much nailed on in the starting lineup (even Sigurdarson will be rotated at some point though, I'm pretty sure).
              - Omoujianfo is a great pick. Not the best 2 fixtures coming up, but they are both at home. I believe he's on penalties as well. I wouldn't buy him right now with the fixture, but I wouldn't sell him either if I owned him.
              - Tagbajumi. I don't know too much about him or Strømsgodset to be honest, but I know the team isn't settled and most players (except Marcus Pedersen, Vilsvik and a few others) could be rotated. If he stays in the team he'll probably be a good pick for that price.
              - Mortensen and Lindberg. I'd still get Lindberg out of those two. Lindberg has been really unlucky to not get a goal yet. He's the main man in Sarpsborgs attack and on some set pieces as well. He's cheaper as well!! Still remains to be seen how Fejzullahu affect their game time. On current form they are both undroppable.
              - Bye has started off well. Don't know too much about him, but should be fairly nailed on I believe after Sveen broke his leg. Only 5.5 as well.
              - Shuaibu. What a pick at 5.0. He should be priced at 6.5 or 7.0 IMO. Definitely the best value pick along with Lindberg.

If I could set up my team over again I would have gone for something like this.

              Dyngeland - Fernandes (or Leciejewski)
              Ruud - Hedenstad - Rolantsson/Wormgoor - Ryerson - Moe
              Jensen - Haugen - Koomson - Matthew - Njie
              Bendtner - Omoijuanfo - Lindberg/Shuaibu

I know I said Haugen is too expensive, but he's a better pick than most 7-8 priced midfielders and there are barely any premium priced players worth it.

Should have mentioned Udoji as well. 6.5 priced midfielder, started up front against Molde. Lot of competition though, so could be moved to left winger again.

He's pretty much unknown quantity for me and most Norwegians. He's been playing in some random league (2nd tier Chinese league, in Belarus, Greece ++), but his stats suggest that he does have an eye for goal. He's been impressive in preseason too according to reports/forums.

Update: Matthew being on penalties is based on him taking one in preseason. He missed, I'm not 100% sure if he'll take one in Eliteserien.

Nope, he started 19 games. Only 12 as a centre forward (the rest as a winger). I think he was injured a lot at the start of the season. They have sold Kirkevold who played 28 games last year.

Alright, I made a fixture difficulty rankings using outrights odds, last season's rankings (points, goals scored, goals conceded) and last season's expected goals numbers. By no means I suggest that these are correct rankings but I will use it myself for now, and will update it regularly throughout the season, using expected goals and other statistics.

People who have seen Vålerenga play before, is 20 million on both Zahid and Moa Abdellaoeu too much to start with? Their fixtures do look pretty good, especially the first 5 at home.

Zahid looks worth the investment IMO , is a beast in terms of goals and assists both , not sure about Moa personally. I haven't seen them play before tho , basing it on who scored stats 😛

For years Vålerenga has had mediocre players, shitty economy and religious fans thinking they will win the league. But things might turn around this season (next year Liverpool :P). They have a good offensive coach, new stadium and players like Moa and Zahid that can make a difference. I think I will start with both of them.

I'd have Zahid for sure. If you're going without the Lord and can afford Moa then go for him too. Been scoring for fun in pre season. Reckon he will be on pens as well. Moa is probably the best poacher we (Norway) have had in the last 10 years, one season he was also fighting for the golden boot in Bundesliga. If he can stay fit (big if) then he will be amongst the top scorers.

I really like Vålerenga's front 6, especially with Keita being confirmed yesterday. There will be loads of goals hopefully.

Moa for me. Better goalscorer. Nailed on. Occean might be a rotation risk considering age.

Occean is the one bugging me , his stats are insane last 2 years ( goals , assists , shots) but his age is the only problem. Odd's GW 2 fixture against Kristian-whatever is potential captain worthy

I remember having the mcauly is 37 argument pre fpl season. The last striker for Odd was Frode Johnsen. I think he quit when he was 42. Imo Ocean is in his prime age (just look at Defoe).

                      Lekven - Grindheim
                      Zahid - Keita - Finne
                      Moa

Something like that I guess. I remember Finne as a good goalscorer. Not sure what position he used to play at Brann but looks like he will be on the left wing for VIF.

A player who can't be a guaranteed starter at 11.5 is better avoided unless you properly monitor him. He is already a doubt for the first game. Disturbs the entire balance of your team if he doesn't start.

They are not on the level of sturridge but it's 30 matches played in 8 months. And if the player is too good then a transfer to Netherlands or Germany is imminent. You need to act accordingly. A doubtful player is the last thing I would want in my team.

There's a lot more rotation in ES than PL. There is also more uncertainty at which level the different players are at.

Odd is probably the most stable team in the league, but even they rotate their wingers a lot.

                    GKs:
Hansen - you don't want to waste a precious Rosenborg spot on a GK
Origi - probably won't start. Keep clear unless you double up with Fernandes

                    Defs:
Gabrielsen and Toivio - stay clear of Solskjær's defenders for now. He loves to rotate them especially considering first 3 GWs happen within 8-9 days
Berge - Ruud is comfortably the better option for .5 more

                    Mids:
Hussain - feel there are better alternatives in that price range
Huseklepp - could be a decent options later in the season but first 5 fixtures are dreadful
Gashi - will be lucky to even get a game

                    Fwds:
Gytkjær - same as Huseklepp. Plus people think this is the same Gytkjær who was top scorer last season but that was actually his brother

Have none of these players. Good start! Thanks for the info, and FPL dreams. Great article too. Give me a chance to practice being patient and holding transfers for a while to better my FPL game!

I'm thinking of an opposite approach. Want to become more aggressive. My negative approach in FPL is evident by my horrible sell value. It worked out fine last season because of Mahrez, Alli, Vardy all being cheap as peanuts but this season TV could be a hindrance when i wildcard.

Origi, Kippe, Nouri, Gashi, Agdestein, Skjelvik.

It's always a bit of a toss up who's going to perform and falter, but most of these players are either guaranteed to not start, or much less likely to start than other options in their price class at the same team.

Got 3 of them. I still think Helland isn't worth the extra 2.5 over Midtsjo.

                      Rosenborg play 433 , I would much rather have a winger than a midfielder in a 433

They attack so much though, that Midtsjo gets as forward as the front 3. The fact that Helland is injury prone too makes him less worth it. 2.5 is a big chunk.

If Helland can stay fit I'd say he is easily worth the extra 2.5 over Midtsjø (or maybe get both). Has had lot of small injuries during pre-season and looked off pace when he came on against Brann yesterday, so I won't get him right now.

He had his big year in 2015 with 13g+7a in 21 matches (also 8g+3a in 6 cup games and 4g+1a in 6 Europa League qualifiers). If he can do anything like that again he is easily worth 11.

                  2. Some interesting "predictions" in there - discounting Rosenborg, all of the teams could potentially finish almost anywhere by the looks of it. Getting on the hot players/teams early could be the key here.

The teams in Eliteserien have their trainings open for the public, so the lineups isn't as secret prior to the gameweek as it is in the Premier League.

A few lineups I've managed to pick up from people that have been at the training and from people with knowledge within the clubs (of course there might be changes, but unlikely IMO)

                  Molde

                  Linde
                  Remmer - Gregersen - Gabrielsen - K. Rindarøy
                  Strand - Hestad - Sarr - Brustad
                  Svendsen - Sigurdarson

                  Odd

                  Rossbach
                  Ruud - Hagen - Semb - Grøgaard
Berg - Oldrup Jensen - Nordkvelle
                  Zekhnini - Occean - Riski

                  Lillestrøm

                  Fernandes
Megalvis - Kind Bendiksen - Amundsen - Haakestad
                  Knudzon - Matthew - Krogstad - Rafn
                  Ajeti - Malec

                  Kristiansund

McDermott, Coly, Bamba (only 3 you would want from that team) all starting. Stokke starting as well. Lekaj likely to be benched, Sørli (4.5) might get a start.

Will post if I find more info.

Erton and Diatta have got permission to play this weekend as well, but not likely to start I think.

Yes, but basically everyone at Molde is prone to rotation. I'm taking the risk though with Svendsen.

Megalvis probably the best pick. 6g3a from 28 matches last year and 2g5a from 30 matches in 2015. Not in Eliteserien though, but in OBOS ligaen (second tier).

Haakenstad came from the third tier in Norway, so I don't have a lot of stats on him. Apparently scored 4 goals last year, but I don't know in how many matches (and number of assists).

Both unproven in Eliteserien, but supposedly attacking full backs. Not sure how attacking Lillestrøm will allow their full backs to be.

Amundsen stays back at corners I've heard, while Mikalsen (5.0) goes up.

Yeah I read your previous comments, so had a look into them. Problem for me is doubling-up with Fernandes, otherwise could make okish rotation with another cheap def (to use money elsewhere, like on a mid playing upfront).

Yeah, I'm not doubling up as I have Fernandes as well. Might get one of them later if they prove they are actually able to keep a clean sheet.

                          4.5m defenders...

*Ryerson (Viking): Potentialy OOP, but starting/fixture risk. 18 games, 1G.
*Utvik (Sogndal): One of the better defences. 20 games, 1G/1A (25 games, 3G/3A in 2015 but in lower league).
*Amundsen (Lillestrøm): CB with no attacking threat but starts; concede a lot though. Fernandes puts me off doubling. 29 games (30 games, 1A in 2015)
                          *Antonsen (Tromsø): Also concede a lot. 24 games, 1G/2A (28 games, 3G/1A in 2015).
*Kpozo (Tromsø): New on loan so hard to know. Plays on the left (like Antonsen) which makes me wonder about security of both.

Think that points to Utvik for now until Tromsø/Viking defence settled?

(Also, found a 24th March Norwegian article about Kpozo with brief reference to Antonsen having an achilles (I think?) issue. Is that correct? "Tromsø IL har ikke all verdens av dekning på venstresiden i forsvaret, etter at Lasse Nilsen ble lånt ut til TUIL. Kent-Are Antonsen har dessuten litt problemer med akillese")

Viking just sold one of their best players (Ibrahim) to Vålerenga. I think Ryerson is more likely to get a game now, but Haukås could also take the place.

I looked into previous 3 years.

In 2016 3 defenders got more than 10 goal points - Ruud, Stølås and Svensson (Vilsvik on 9). 21 midfielders and attacker got more than 10 goal points.

In 2015 4 defenders got more than 10 goal points - Ruud, Vilsvik, Flo and Danielsen (4 penalty goals). 41 attackers and midfielders got at least 10 goal points.

In 2014 2 defenders got more than 10 goal points - Flo and Kronberg (but he a lot as a winger as well) - 38 attackers and midfielders got at least 10 goal points.

To me it seems like the biggest difference is 2016 was an off year for attackers and midfielders. I'd say get Vilsvik, Ruud and Hedenstad as we expect good attacking returns from them and possibly a good chuck of clean sheets. It's viable to play 4 at the back when you got at least 3 defender who are expected to get good attacking returns in the top teams. Lundstrøm might be the perfect 4th defender if you are willing to invest.

I've currently got Utvik as my 4th defender. Happy enough for his price and their decently solid defence.

He is good enough as a 4th defender, but I'd prefer playing 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 instead of 4 at the back with Utvik playing every week.

Thanks, but I think they could be solid enough for most weeks anyway. Might rotate with Shuaibu the odd time

I'd start Shuaibu most gameweeks (assuming he still is in the starting XI)

Fair enough, thanks. I guess I'll just play them based on fixtures. Who this week? Utvik away to Sarpsborg and Shuaibu away to Stromsgodset. Utvik, right?

Utvik is a good pick. Sogndal is good on set pieces and he is a big man.

He is 1.82 (6"0) so I wouldn't say he's a big man. I'm not saying he's a bad pick, just wouldn't play him week in week out. If I remember right you have Shuaibu? You can play him most weeks IMO (as long as he keeps his place).

Really, I was thinking to play Utvik most weeks and rotate for Shuaibu whenever Utvik has a bad fixture. I though Shuaibu was unlikely enough to score that I could keep him on bench?

FK Haugesund always score goals and if he's starting he'll score I'm pretty sure. Only Rosenborh and Molde scored more goals last year (Molde scored 1 more)

Liban Abdi is suspended. It should be Ibrahim instead.

The source for this is here btw: http://eliteserienfantasyfotball.com/dodballer/

They might update this site as thing changes, but I don't know.
The site also has a section on lineups ('Lagoppstillinger'). It's terribly formatted, but might give some information.

Maybe Mikkel kirkesov is a good shout then as a defender taking set pieces for Aalesund.
Also is Okland going under the radar taking all set plays for kristiansund?

Still think Grétarsson is a better defender pick for Aalesund. Cheaper, and often at the end of these set pieces. Scored 4 goals in 5 pre season matches this season.

and Aursnes isn't in the predicted line up - I assume this is why Hussain has 23% ownership as he's predicted on PKs?

Some updates from the last 24h

                                    - Zekhnini not expected to start for Odd.
                                    - Ohi supposedly fit for Stabæk.
                                    - Sander Svendsen either starting as a winger or benched for Molde.
                                    - Hussain will potentially get a start for Molde.
                                    - Rindarøy might be replaced by his brother at left back for Molde.
                                    - Adegbenro 50/50 to make the squad for Viking.
                                    - Espejord might need an operation and could be out for months for Tromsø.
                                    - Bamba doesn't need an operation, but out for a couple of weeks for Kristiansund.
                                    - Sørli (4.5 mid) might be benched for Kristiansund.
                                    - As of yesterday Moa was very doubtful for Vålerenga.

It's been confirmed that this is a bug in the system and that they're working on fixing it. The correct price increase is 0.1.

                                            1. So I can sell him now and buy him back when fixed for a 0.1 profit?

Where are the risers?! Did they use up the rising quota when Omo rose .5 in one go?

Think Omo could rise very soon. 1400 transfers in (equivalent to 105k in fpl) = 36% of original ownership. Next highest Zachariassen @ 20%, Melgalvis/Rosted/Jevtovic @ 10%

Work it out from transfers. But it's very rough; not actual % to rise and don't know thresholds or even net transfers.

Hussain offers very little offensive, Njie the easy pick

What is a selvmal? Vilsvik on my bench, got a selvmal, and apparently that translates to "autogenous grinding" according to google translate. Somehow i doubt this is the case

Yeah, this language must have strange nuance if two syllables can translate to "autogenous grinding"
