There were mixed feelings amongst the community over this week’s double Gameweek 34 announcements, given the poor form or tough fixtures of the three teams involved.

Nevertheless, our hot topic posters have been full of advice on how to approach the upcoming period, with a strong focus on the best time to deploy Fantasy Premier League’s precious chips.

Further insight into the underlying statistics of those teams with a pair of Gameweek 34 fixtures is given in our Members Tables round-up and there is more data analysis in our community articles section, courtesy of our resident captaincy expert.

Finally, we take a look at our community competition standings to find out who will be hoping to profit over the season run-in.

The Community Articles

During the break from Premier League action YMA has taken stock of his What The Form And Fixtures Say article series to review its success in predicting captaincy hauls.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Double Gameweek news is often treated with a fanfare, yet with two relegation scrappers and one of the Premier League’s most fixture-frazzled sides involved in the latest refresh, enthusiasm has been somewhat muted.

As aa33 was quick to point out, the rescheduling of postponed matches in Gameweek 34, when the FA Cup semi-finals also take place, means that only Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace and Manchester United have two league fixtures.

With ‘Boro languishing in the relegation zone and Sam Allardyce’s troops sitting perilously close to the drop in 16th, there was little love for their players in Rumour Mill’s hot topic on key double Gameweek players to target.

Tough encounters against Liverpool and Tottenham that week further dampen excitement around Big Sam’s side.

Even United’s array of talent come packaged with a health warning, says Makeveli123, due to an exhausting set of fixtures in April.

However, those with a Bench Boost chip still to play could find comfort in double Gameweek 34’s scheduling, according to Enzo the Baker, particularly as a number of the single fixture teams enjoy easier match-ups.

There was further advice on when to deploy chips around double Gameweeks from Jarvish, and Silver dropped by to discuss the best time to use the Triple Captain chip over the season run-in. We also asked for your top tips on dealing with double Gameweeks.

With two postponed fixtures still to be re-arranged, Arsenal and Southampton players are set to be in demand for the season run-in.

Already Rossamous is taking a look at some key Saints assets to draft in, with their attack-minded left-back Ryan Bertrand top of his shopping list.

Our discussion on Arsenal players to consider found that, aside from their top scorer Alexis Sanchez, few Gunners appeal for their impending doubles.

Turning to more immediate concerns, we asked for your early thoughts on the best captaincy options for Gameweek 30. Leicester’s Jamie Vardy and Chelsea striker Diego Costa were two of the most frequently mentioned names and were also the focus of Holmesdiscussion on transfer targets.

This pair of strikers also took centre stage in our Gameweek 29 Rough with the Smooth round-up, where new owners of the Foxes’ marksman, who scored and assisted away to West Ham, claimed the bragging rights.

Finally, with even England opting for a wing-back system, we canvassed your views on whether FPL should reclassify these raiding defenders as midfielders.

The Members Tables

For those looking to take a punt on Palace players for their tricky double Gameweek 34, I’ve created this table looking at their most attacking options. Sticking with the double teams, London Fox has focused on Manchester United’s best sources of goals and assists for this latest table.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

This week saw the launch of two new community competitions, with Jarvish announcing details of his Frequent Posters Cup competition, which is reserved for our community’s chattiest participants.

Meanwhile, Team Cruel has set up a community league in the newly-launched Norwegian Fantasy Football game, which has been designed by the same bright sparks behind FPL.

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, Ginola14 hit the top score in Gameweek 29 with 95. There are now 244 teams left after 61 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 67.

It was business as usual in the rest of our key community contests with Dan Clapson clinging on at the summit of Red Lightning’s January to May league and Hutton Dressed As Lahm retaining top spot in his Top 10K Any Season league.

An impressive score of 90 points, taking hits into account, means that Mark has extended his lead at the top of the FFScout Moderators and Contributors league over second-placed Torres Magic to 18 points.

Gilles Wanlin is another league leader who refuses to budge. He continues to dominate my Millionaire’s Club, for those with a FPL rank above one million at the Gameweek 12 mark. Since then he has climbed from 1,238,588 to a season-high of 15,917 in the overall placings.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Talking of films - where do people get their films from these days? I have Netflix but it's not got a huge range of good films (better for TV).

For sure. You can negotiate with Sky though.

I would have binned it a while ago but it is good for the Disney films and my daughter loves them all

I am due a phonecall bargaining session with Sky soon. Our broadband is too slow for any streaming service though so it is either Sky or DVD's though

Have you tried Netflix? Our internet is pretty slow but Netflix seems very forgiving, it sort of loads it up rather than direct stream.

It struggles with Youtube and when you do anything like taht it wipes out the rest of the internet entirely.

We only get half a MB it would be a pain I am sure

                  Pretty much.

I will change to satellite broadband at some point I think there are some companies doing that around the plac. It takes a reasonable upfront investment though and with the new baby things are tight for a while

That is slow. You could try a month trial if you were interested. It's definitely more forgiving than YouTube.

I don't think so. It is the knock on effect on the rest of the internet which will annoy me.

Trying to do anything else while my wife downloads an hour long programme on the Sky box is impossible.

Or is this some way of sabotaging my Sky planning by wiping out my internet?

I can get Kodi on my tablet although when I try to cast to TV it doesn't fill the whole screen just a smaller rectangle in the middle, plus the sound is often not great, so that's not a great cinematic experience!! I don't mind paying for quality but the Sky packages mean that you pay for a lot of stuff you don't want or need.

        1. Epic Fail
          • 16 Years
          9 years, 5 months ago

Yeah I find casting doesn't do a good job. I use one of those Amazon Firesticks now. The quality is spot on.

I think the Sky packages are far too expensive. As you say there is a lot of stuff you won't want. If they would lower the price and let me have a lesser package, I'd be all for that.

You'll start Valencia and Alonso every week, so you only need one other spot. Robertson and Mawson rotate with really good fixtures for a while except for GW32. Given that Middlesbrough have Burnley at home that week and also have a really appealing double in GW34, I'd save some money and get a Middlesbrough defender.

So the clocks change at 2 am right and jump to 3am. SO that puts the price rises at the same time as yesterday and then at the different time tomorrow?

The price changes stay at the same time and the clocks move around them.

Paddy has broken his leg and his buddy Mick comes over to see him. Mick walks in and asks, "How you doing?" "Okay, but do me a favour mate, run upstairs and get me slippers, my feet are freezing." Mick goes upstairs and sees Paddy's gorgeous 21-year-old twin daughters lying on the bed. Seeing an opportunity, he says, "Your dad's sent me up here to have sex with both of you." They say, "Get away with ya Mick.... prove it." Mick shouts downstairs, "Paddy, both of em?" Paddy shouts back, "Of course both of em Mick..., what's the point of f***ing one?"

Can anyone tell me if Valencia has another game to play this week?

Soon to be priced out of Coleman to Valencia if either change in price.

Sorry, you're right, it was you, not Cheese, but you called 2:14--is it good enough to be the closest, or do you need to be bang-on? 😉

The prices change a few minutes before TM announces them here. 🙂 I think we were going for the hour of the changes, so a few minutes is neither here nor there. 😀

You won because I screwed up on when the clocks go forward. But it appears to have been 2:19, not 2:14 . . . 😉

See above. You fox, you . . . you used your canine wiles (or is it vulpine?) to realize that the clocks went forward at 1:00, when I thought it was 2:00. Fair play, but you were still five minutes off! 😉

See above. TM was five minutes late posting them here. Hehe.

It was easy for me because the clocks changed for me a couple of weeks ago so I know when the price change would happen, it was just a question of whether the UK clocks would move forward before that happened. And I gambled/ vaguely remebered that they would. 😀

Well that's just great. So the kebab goes to someone purely because they happened to 'know' some 'facts' about how time works. Well I don't acknowledge your so-called 'facts'! I work with alternaitve facts and I know that it happened at 1:14. Just ask Sean Spicer!

Fuchs or Huth are a better choice this week for Coleman replacement, if you already have Valencia and Alonso!

Here are most of the games:
Man U home to West Brom
    Leicester home to Stoke
    Southampton home to Bournemouth
    Watford home to Sunderland
    Swansea home to Boro
    Chelsea home to Palace
    Burnley home to Spurs

After Chelsea and Man U., Leicester has the best chance to get a clean sheet, of the double game week teams. Any arguments?

IBs are the baines of my life.

Planning transfers now upto GW37 BB. Hoping to have something like this

    Caballero (dgw) Pickford (dgw)

Alonso (dgw) Rose (dgw) Yoshida (dgw) PVA (HUL) Mawson (sun)

Sanchez (dgw) Hazard (dgw) Alli (dgw) Siggy (sun) King (BUR)

Kane (dgw) BARNES (BOU) Lukaku (WAT)

Only 9 dgw players but the other 6 could easily score more than the 4 points than alot of dgw will inevitably get and rotation shouldn't be a concern with these players.

Not sure if anyone cares but I felt like writing it down

Thought about Fuchs but I'm gonna take a gamble on PVA. Play him against sou 31 ARS 32 LEI 33 Double 34 BUR 35 and HUL 37.

          Cheers Pep:
Great call on PVA... but probably not this week for me as he is still red flagged... so would you get Fuchs or the rising Bertrand of Southampton?

Think Southampton have a chance to offer more especially if VVD comes back so Bertrand for me

How many changes you need to get to this team? You got WC left?
      Good effort well balanced.
I know a rotation risk but I would have Sane if City have anything left to play for.

Plan is to take 1 hit between now and 36. Should have 2 fts going into 37 if I need to make a change.

I'm in a similar situation I used my WC in gw21 so planing for 37 BB now. I have 8 dgwers for 37 with 7 FT to come. Technically I could field 15 dgwers without a hit barring injuries, but I'm looking at keeping some strong sgw players.

6 strong dgwers (valencia, yoshida, sanchez, alli, eriksen, costa)
      2 weak dgwers (foster, brunt)
5 strong sgwers i may keep (baines, siggy, king, lukaku, llorente)
      2 weak sgwers (grant, pieters)

Grant to Caballero may be worth the hit and City play Watford in in 38 which is a better chance of cs than Grant or Foster?

Yup, definitely eyeing up Grant to Willy further down the track, Pieters to Stones also

Actually I like the Alli and Eriksen double up then I would prefer Kane over one them but would certainly free up some cash. Cash is all important when trying to get 15 out.

Rose Alli and Kane for me. Hazard Sanchez and Siggy take up the other spots and I don't want to lose any of them
