Dugout Discussion – Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

The final double Gameweek side take to the pitch in Sunday’s late kick-off, with Crystal Palace making the trip to Anfield to face Liverpool.

Fantasy managers will, of course, be focused on both Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke in the Palace attack, with both commanding 144,000+ and 148,000 new Fantasy Premier League owners for Gameweek 34 respectively.

Benteke is skippered by 96214 (2.1%) of his owners as he bids to extend a run of three goals in his last four outings. He’ll face his former club in form, then, with Zaha and Andros Townsend tasked with providing him with the ammunition.

While Sam Allardyce’s side have every motivation to earn a third successive win at Anfield, Liverpool also have every incentive to claim a victory.

Their quest for a top spot and Champions League qualification goes on, with Fantasy managers focused on the efforts and output of Brazilian pair Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.

Coutinho has been signed by over 34,000 FPL managers ahead of Gameweek 34, with Firmino earning 58,000+ new owners following his run of returns in six consecutive Gameweeks.

  I've posted something similar on previous page. It sounds a silly complaint but i've noticed it a lot since listening to every Scoutcast. Mark doesn't follow up on what he says an awful lot of the time.

      That's nonsense. The ScoutCast is recorded on Tuesday. A few days later news of Liverpool defensive injuries surfaced. So, with more information, I changed my mind.

        See below...that's right, when news surfaced about Matip training on his own this week, I started to favour Benteke and eventually plumped for him. I'd also considered that Kane could pick up a knock in FA Cup of course.
        
        You can hardly expect me, or any FPL manger to commit to a captain four days before the deadline and have to stick to it.

        We can't really insist that every opinion is upheld four days later. In the past I have, when I backed Sigurdsson as Captain, I saw it through but this time I had a rethink.
        
        If we don't allow that, nobody would come on the ScoutCast and say anything!
        
        Anyway, this is all presuming the Kane doesn't return. I still think he will. Palace will push Spurs to 2-3 goals I reckon.

        99% of the users of this site would never question your integrity mark. The people who do are the ones upset at their own poor choices.
        
        The implication is that they have heard you speak earlier in the week and based their decision on YOUR decision. The beauty of fpl is that your rank and results are based entirely on your own choices. You should not feel any need to justify yourself simply because people are looking to shift their own dissatisfiaction at their game week into someone else.
        
        As a long time lurker id like to express my gratitude for the hard work that you and the other mods put into this site. It's the main reason I still play fpl.

        It's difficult though, we don't want to hold back on the ScoutCast for fear of not being able to change opinion.

        The scout cast reaches quite a large audience, the large majority of whom listen to it, enjoying hearing the opinions shared and the thought that it provokes. Then they go ahead and make their own decisions. I captained kane this gw and I own benteke. I also listened to the scout cast. I'm not upset about it... Let's remember kane hadnt even played yet!

    I think you maybe need to listen to it. Even when pressed by the others on who he was captaining he said Kane. He gave his advice as being the doubles were not worth it. To advise your listeners of one thing and then do the complete opposite is poor in my opinion.

        I didn't see this in any articles on the site. Plus Benteke isn't even in the Scout picks. Plus Mark said he was captaining Kane in the Scoutcast. I think your missing the original point - maybe on the Scoutcast they shouldn't say what they are going to do because they may not follow through.

        The scout picks don't get it right every time though, and how could they?
        
        The whole decision of who to pick/captain etc shouldn't just be based on what they say at the end though, theres the rest of the scoutcast dicussion to take into account, as well as all the other tools at our disposal, like the site, press releases etc.
        
        We're all allowed to change our minds on out teams at any point, why should it be different for the scouts?

        Better players than me can still make mistakes, but identifying Negredo (C) was not a good move because he plays for the lowest scoring team in the division, tends to go on extended goalless runs, hasn't had a double digit haul for 17 games, was even dropped 4 games ago, avoiding him in advance and bringing in Benteke instead ... is good planning, not hindsight.
        
        Hindsight is saying something like ... wish I didn't bench Mawson and Holgate points 😉

      FPL is a game of luck and skill. For every Benteke there is a Negredo and a Lukaku. It is the punts that get you up the leagues. At the beginning of the season many of us punted on Redmond - that was a rubbish punt, but that is FPL. Benteke may have got a red card today before he got his goals then we would be laughing about why Negredo is not a bad captain choice. Fine margins and sometimes it falls for you and sometimes it doesn't.
