After clinching the title at West Bromwich Albion on Friday, Antonio Conte makes nine changes to his Chelsea line-up for a home encounter against Watford.

Cesar Azpilicueta then emerges as the Blues’ unlikely Double Gameweek 37 hero, but Eden Hazard fails to take advantage of back-to-back starts.

On the Rise

Cesar Azpilicueta
One of only two Chelsea players to retain their starting berths from Friday’s win at West Brom, the Spaniard is currently the top-scoring player for Double Gameweek 37 on 20 points.

Azpilicueta was shifted out of the back-three and handed a right wing-back berth as Victor Moses was afforded the night off entirely, and he picked a fine time to net his first goal of the season in the 4-3 win over Watford.

With an assist and clean sheet also accrued at The Hawthorns, the versatile defender was the big winner from the Chelsea contingent – only one other team-mate, Michy Batshuayi, managed double-figures (11 points) over the Blues’ pair of fixtures.

Azpilicueta has now served up 30 points in his last three appearances and, with a home clash against Sunderland still to follow, is just seven points behind team-mate Marcos Alonso at the top of the defender standings.

Cesc Fabregas
Named among the subs against the Hornets, the Chelsea playmaker once again highlighted his ability to deliver points from limited pitch-time by emerging from the bench to fire the decisive strike.

As he’s owned by a mere 3% of FPL managers, Fabregas was largely overlooked for the Double Gameweek, yet, like Azpilicueta, he’s upped his output as the season comes to a close – it’s a goal and four assists in five now for the playmaker.

Afforded just 12 minutes off the bench last night, you’d expect him to return to the first XI against the Black Cats, with Conte perhaps now looking to protect N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic’s minutes with one eye on the FA Cup final against Arsenal at the end of the month.

In Decline

Eden Hazard
The Belgian was a surprise starter in last night’s seven-goal thriller, but he was unable to get among the points despite playing the full 90 minutes.

Backed by 304,000+ FPL managers with the armband, the 33%-owned Hazard delivered a mere five points across the Blues’ pair of fixtures as his campaign stumbles to a close.

The winger has served up just a single assist in his last four league appearances, scoring once in six top-flight outings ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Black Cats.

As the only attacker to retain his place from the Baggies win, Hazard’s minutes could be the most in question for the Sunderland match as Conte looks towards the Wembley showdown in a bid to clinch the double in his first season at the helm.

Over 12,700 have already parted company since Friday’s deadline – only Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino has earned more sales among FPL midfielders.

I have a mental problem in this game
I can't buy a player who has done well in his recent matches.
Its hard for me to buy him for extra price that has risen. And the points I missed. I always think its too late to buy and I ignore the player and he keeps on scoring
Such as alli eriksen lukaku walker king this season
Never owned. And my season ended really bad
    I was at 24k at gw 14
    But now at 250k
    So sad

I'd buy King right now if I didn't already have him. Can certainly score vs Leicester. You need to lose this mentality I'm afraid.

Doesn't matter now with 1 game to go...but I for example bought King on WC 3 gameweeks ago. Scored twice and assisted once, was a huge differential for me in comparison to my rival and I still paid almost nothing for him.

Yeah that's a pickle. There is no better indicator of what a player will do in the future than what he has just done. A one week knee-jerk is chasing points, but if you start to see a pattern developing there is a good chance you will benefit from hopping on board.

I think Alli, Eriksen and Kaku were possible mistakes on your part given the fixtures around the time too.

Walker, been a bit meh. Not too essential.

King was a tough one for me too. I thought he can't continue like this... His price was low so I thought it's a phase. Finally gave in on a wildcard and he's been brilliant.

You have extra informaion about how they play and how explosive they are but instead you're going off looking for the next big thing instead.

Early thoughts on how to finish the season?

    Would love two punts.

    2ft, 0itb.

    Cech
    Alonso / Monreal / Yoshida
    Sanchez / Hazard / Alli / Sane / King
    Kane / Jesus.

    Pickford / Stephens / Holgate / Anichebe.

The team placed fifth in the Premier League automatically qualifies for the UEFA Europa League, and the sixth and seventh-placed teams can also qualify, depending on the winners of the two domestic cup competitions i.e. the FA Cup and the Capital One Cup (League Cup). Two Europa League places are reserved for the winners of each tournament; if the winner of either the FA Cup or League Cup qualifies for the Champions League, then that place will go to the next-best placed finisher in the Premier League

    Lessons learnt from this season lads? Mine are as follows;

Don't destroy team for blank gameweek. GW28 was a disaster for me despite having a full XI, next year it'll be getting the essential players only. I then spent the next four weeks trying to get rid of my crappy West Brom players.

    Form > Fixtures. Always.

Start with a team that doesn't have a bunch of differentials, go with the tried and tested from this season, then as it progresses move them in... So many flop signings seem to happen. Go with one or two.

    Captain defenders more.

One piece of advice for picking a team for GW1: If you simply cannot decide between two players then go for the one with the LOWEST ownership. Don't be swayed by the 'don't want to be left behind by everyone else' argument, because if you think A is equal to B then you have as much to gain if it does go your way by moving ahead of everyone else by picking the outlier.

This makes all things equal when it comes to static prices, but factor in these and the 'differential' becomes more attractive. Why? Because the more people who own a player the faster he will fall, and vice versa. If 100% of FF players own player A then he can only fall in value. You establish a value gradient by picking the less well-owned player.

Trouble with captaining defenders is it's harder to pick out their hauls. Mid/attackers offer a lot more consistency with regards to attacking output.

Next season I might try looking at the bookies' odds and if a CS is significantly shorter than a given player scoring then I might captain the odd defender.

The problem is, it's really quite boring. You're watching the game and hoping for no goals! I think the likes of Alonso is different as he gets forward so much.

Good points but I have to disagree with you about the blank gameweeks part. GW28 was a turning point in my season because I planned for it for so long and jumped ahead of a lot of those who didn't so much.

Fair enough, for me it went the opposite way. I didn't have King really and he could either make or break that gameweek.

Perhaps stick with my method but ensure I've got the quality rather than quantity.

It's important to get the makeweight in your front eight correct. After week 27 my lowest priced front eight player averaged just 2.5 point per game and I was 297,000 overall. Since then they have averaged 6.1 and I'm now around 25k.
Capoue, Phillips and Origi were utter disasters for me. King a success.

        Actually looks like they would:

        "For each penalty save"

For other parts they specifically state the position. Example:

"For a clean sheet by a goalkeeper or defender"

Well it ain't specifically in the rule books but since that is such a rare case I think FPL would actually make an exception and give him the points

    Cech Caballero
    Alonso Monreal Vertonghen Smith Yoshida
    Sanchez Hazard Eriksen Sane King
    Kane Jesus Barnes

    1 FT, 0.4 itb

As everyone and his dog, I'm thinking of getting Coutinho.
Hazard totally disappointed me in this dgw, so I can easily do Hazard->Coutinho.
    Then I want Vardy.
I wouldn't really like to take Jesus out for him, but having in mind Pep likes rotating, while Jesus didn't do much vs LEI, I may do Jesus->Vardy.
    What do you think?
    Would you do anything else?

    Hazard - Sanchez - Pedro - Sane - King
    Jesus - Kane - Gabbi
    1FT

A/ Hazard > Coutinho (Bench Gabbi)
B/ Hazard & Gabbi > Coutinho & Giroud (bench King or Pedro)
C/ No transfer - bench Gabbi

Probably this. I couldn't recommend Cout as a differential transfer as he'll be pretty standard now.
