After Alexis Sanchez ended Double Gameweek 37 with a season-high 27 points, Wednesday night’s meeting at St Mary’s has a lot to live up to.

Southampton entertain Manchester United in the penultimate showdown of a seven-day round of fixtures, and it’s fair to say that Claude Puel and Jose Mourinho both owe us a favour after their recent penchant for rotation scuppered many best-laid wildcard plans.

The Saints’ boss reinstalls a number of regulars after the 2-1 win at Middlesbrough on Saturday. Snapped up by 40,000+ and 27,000+ respectively for their second successive Double Gameweek, Jack Stephens and Manolo Gabbiadini return to the first XI along with the likes of Dusan Tadic, Nathan Redmond and Cedric Soares.

Despite mustering just a single assist in his last six league outings, Gabbiadini is his side’s most captained player, with 15,000+ handing him the armband for the Double.

Fantasy faith in United is at a low as Mourinho looks to keep his main men fresh with one eye on next week’s Europa League final against Ajax.

Marcus Rashford continues to be used sparingly on the domestic stage and is handed a third successive appearance on the bench, though Wayne Rooney is named in the first XI for the fourth successive league outing.

Having found the net in three of his last four Gameweek appearances, the Red Devils’ skipper is the most captained FPL asset among Mourinho’s starting line-up, with almost 28,000 affording him the armband.

If you could build your football team around any one player in history, who would it be?

    Zidane for me.

He would have license to do whatever he wished on and off the pitch as he would do exactly that anyway lol

Plus there isn't a central midfielder in my lifetime capable of doing this

          Yep.

Best attitude and work ethic of any player I've ever seen.

Forget Gazza and Best...they'd have you out of work in no time at all. Messi wold f your pay structure right up. Ronaldo would cause resentment...blah blah blah.

End of the day if you had to pick a player to inspire those around the dressing room he'd be as good as anybody.

    I hate crappyadinni.
All he had to do was kick the ball into the net from a few yards out .
But no. He had to hit the man that was standing in front of the net.
    What a tool.

Is it only me who is not that worried about Gabbi's points but of the other two defenders? Almost everyone in my ML has him and by coming on he has blocked Stanislas's10pts of my leader who leads me by 24 currently.

Sometimes you get a great bit of info from the scoutcast.

When picking my wildcard, I remember Luke saying about Gabbi and something like maybe the streak of him scoring was the blip, and now he is back to his level. That actually made my decision as see it happen so much with new players to the league.

Cheers Luke, made my wildcard a lot more profitable
