After teasing us with a list of player prices and the revelation of a new Free Hit chip over the last few days, Fantasy Premier League has finally opened for registration ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Launched a week earlier than last year’s July 19 date, we now have 30 days to assemble our 15-man squads before Arsenal and Leicester City get Gameweek 1 underway on Friday August 11.

A quick look at the Player Price list shows that Harry Kane and Alexis Sanchez are the priciest players on offer at £12.5m and £12.0m.

Kane’s average of 7.5 points per match (ppm) was more than any FPL regular last term, while Sanchez – who remains a midfielder – clocked up 6.9 ppm on his way to topping the charts with 264 points.

Last year’s most expensive player, Sergio Aguero drops from £13.0m to £11.5m – the same as Romelu Lukaku – with Manchester City team-mate Gabriel Jesus offering a cheaper alternative at £10.5m.

Meanwhile, City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne is one of just three midfielders priced in double-figures. The Belgian comes in at £10.0m on the back of 21 assists in 2016/17, with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard listed at £10.5m.

As we discovered yesterday, Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino is now re-classified as a forward – at £8.5m, he offers a cheaper route into the Reds’ attack than midfield trio Sadio Mane (£9.5m), Philippe Coutinho and Mo Salah (both £9.0m).

At the back, Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso is the most expensive defender in the game – the wing-back comes in at £7.0m after averaging 5.7 ppm in his first season at the Bridge.

As always, we’ll roll out a series of Player Price List articles over the next few days, breaking them down by classification and cost.

In the meantime, enjoy delving in and getting those opening squads built.

Another year looming where I'll ignore Chelsea's defensive assets until January because they're "too expensive", by which time the damage will be done...

3-5-2 with Gabbiadini on the bench?
If so have you figured out a Defender rotation pattern ... e.g. Burnley and Palace rotate well...
otherwise it looks good to me for starters....

Actually it's burnley, swans&west brom rotation. im considering daniels bcos of goal threat. it's 433 with gab having good fixture early on.

    The FPL Draft...

What is the best way to actually do the draft? We'll have 7 of us in the pub.

Is it best to all bring our laptop or is there some sort of template-pack we can download, like a sweepstake kit, that we can download somewhere? Thanks

We usually have an offline draft. Just hang a big piece of cardboard on the wall and write down your picks on by one. This year they also introduced custom draft. Later everyone can make an autograft list with their players, let the system sort it out and you are ready for GW1.

Makes it easier, no-one can complain about bad connection, low battery, etc.

Lacazette loves to position himself on the edge of the offside defensive line and often have very good movement.
With players like Ozil, Sanchez and Ramsey who all have very nice passing skills, I believe Lacazette might actually be the Arsenal pick this year

      Foster,
WBA rotate home and away with the Swans all season. Both keepers are 4.5 aswell. To be honest i havn't seen a better value pick the Fab and Foster.

Think Ritchie's fixtures are better - and has all set pieces in his locker. Disappointed last season though. 🙁

Ritchie I think - played in the PL before and set pieces/pens

Optimistic he'll be a starter. We'll see. Prime 5th mid for me as it stands.
