After teasing us with a list of player prices and the revelation of a new Free Hit chip over the last few days, Fantasy Premier League has finally opened for registration ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Launched a week earlier than last year’s July 19 date, we now have 30 days to assemble our 15-man squads before Arsenal and Leicester City get Gameweek 1 underway on Friday August 11.

A quick look at the Player Price list shows that Harry Kane and Alexis Sanchez are the priciest players on offer at £12.5m and £12.0m.

Kane’s average of 7.5 points per match (ppm) was more than any FPL regular last term, while Sanchez – who remains a midfielder – clocked up 6.9 ppm on his way to topping the charts with 264 points.

Last year’s most expensive player, Sergio Aguero drops from £13.0m to £11.5m – the same as Romelu Lukaku – with Manchester City team-mate Gabriel Jesus offering a cheaper alternative at £10.5m.

Meanwhile, City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne is one of just three midfielders priced in double-figures. The Belgian comes in at £10.0m on the back of 21 assists in 2016/17, with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard listed at £10.5m.

As we discovered yesterday, Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino is now re-classified as a forward – at £8.5m, he offers a cheaper route into the Reds’ attack than midfield trio Sadio Mane (£9.5m), Philippe Coutinho and Mo Salah (both £9.0m).

At the back, Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso is the most expensive defender in the game – the wing-back comes in at £7.0m after averaging 5.7 ppm in his first season at the Bridge.

As always, we’ll roll out a series of Player Price List articles over the next few days, breaking them down by classification and cost.

In the meantime, enjoy delving in and getting those opening squads built.

      See which of WHU and Palace are going well in pre season.

      Palace seem to have an optimum pre season schedule.
      Looking to get a couple of their lads in.

      Benteke/ Zaha probably.

    My defence looks good this year

    Lloris
    Milner, Lindelof, Daniels, Cedric

    Any thoughts for improvements? I did want Kompany over Daniels not going to lie but couldnt fit him in. Ottamendi is 0.5 but is he less nailed on than Kompany?

    Current Squad:

    Forster De Gea
    Kolasinac Trippier Dawson Cedric Chilwell
    Alli Kachunga Mkhitaryan GroB Carroll
    Kane Jesus Rodriguez

    Do you think I am spread a bit thin? (Lots of average no superstars..)
    Feels like I have overpayed for defenders..

      Too much on GKs. If you have spent so much on De Gea, are you really going to bench him in any week and therefore could you not change Forster to a 4m GK. Or keep Forster and move De Gea to a £4m keeper.

      Midfield seems a bit lightweight with Gross and Carroll. Assume you plan to play 433

      1. surrallt
        • 9 Years
        9 years, 8 mins ago

        yeah will have a think about changing keepers.
        Was thinking 433, I have this strange obsession with thinking defenders are better value for money week on week than midfielders (probably wrong), so tend to end up suffering in the midfield having stacked my defence..

      • 9 Years

      10.5 on GKs is insane! If you're gonna have a premium (5.5) GK, then your sub NEEDS to be a 4m. Kolasanic could be swapped for Monreal or Mustafi (Both 5.5). May as well go for Pogba over Mkhi, and RLC over Carroll.

      Trying to make the least possible changes, I would:
      Forster -> Foster (+0.5m)
      De Gea -> 4m GK (+1.5m)
      Kolasanic -> Monreal (+0.5m)
      Dawson -> Lindelof (-0.5)
      Mkhi -> Pogba (+0m)
      Kachunga -> Sterling (-2m)

    Foster

    Alder, Trippier (changable), Cedric

    Zaha, Pog, Redmond, Chadli

    Kane, Lukaku, Jesus

    All subs are terrible.

    Thoughts guys? I think thats not bad considering I've gone heavy up top. Trippier can obviously be swapped for Mcauly or Dawson so I'm playing with that idea. gotta debate with fixtures and how quickly players like Lacazette can adapt to prem.

    FF is back! Pleased to secure another 5 digit ID, would've been 4 if I hadn't inexplicably forgotten to actually submit my team and delayed 10 minutes.

    Drafted this team in literally 5 minutes, actually pretty pleased with how it looks. Haven't even considered 100s of alternatives or eeking out any value yet.

    Begovic / £4m (I have the guy with lots of dots in his name)
    Bertrand / Holding / McAuley / Mawson / £4m
    Alli / Pogba / Lanzini / Tadic / Knockaert
    Lukaku / Lacazette / Benteke

    Interesting picture in Marca regarding the cost of Pogba compared to all of the Madrids midfielders.

    Pogba cost just 20 mil less than every midfielder that currently plays for Real (Kroos, Modric, Isco, Llorente, Asensio, Casemiro, Kovacic, Ceballos).

    Mane Alli Sane Zaha RLC
    Lukaku Lacazette Austin

    (Austin/Sane/Zaha can be Jesus/Tadic/Can OR Defoe/Sane/Gross)

    I think Begovic is nailed on think about it he left Chelsea as he doesn't want to be the second fiddle anymore.

    Why would he join a club just to be second fiddle again?

    Non-RMT question:

    How many weeks in advance to people look when drafting their initial team?

    First 6 fixtures? 8? 10?
