Tom Ince hits his third goal of pre-season as Huddersfield Town lose in Germany, while a Stefano Okaka strike is enough for Watford to seal their first victory of the summer.

Here are Tuesday’s notes.

SV Sandhausen 3 Huddersfield Town 2

Summer recruit Tom Ince scored for the third consecutive match as Huddersfield slumped to a 3-2 defeat against their Bundesliga 2 opponents.

The midfielder, currently one of only three Terriers players enjoying more than 2% Fantasy Premier League ownership, curled home from the edge of the area after coming on at half-time.

Pre-season goalscoring exploits always need to be taken with a generous measure of salt – Burnley’s Andre Gray (9 goals) being a prime example last summer – but Ince’s form is welcome for those of us looking for an asset to exploit Huddersfield’s kindly start to the season (pal, NEW, SOT, wham, LEI, bur).

Elsewhere, club record signing, Benin forward Steve Mounie, was also on the scoresheet – his second goal in as many matches since his move from Montpellier.

Both goals were set up by Rajiv van La Parra.

The match was rather less memorable for defender Martin Cranie, who was brought on after 54 minutes and promptly had a hand in two of the German side’s goals, including the concession of the penalty that proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Town coach David Wagner again stuck to his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation and made a raft of changes at both half-time and on the hour-mark.

But a number of players remain unavailable to him. Tommy Smith (foot), Nahki Wells (ankle), Jon Gorenc Stankovic (knee) and Michael Hefele (Achilles) are injured, while Aaron Mooy is still on extended leave following Australia’s participation in the Confederations Cup. Meanwhile, Scott Malone suffered a knock and was forced off on 40 minutes.

Huddersfield Town XI: Lossl (Coleman 46); Scannell (J Williams 46), Jorgensen (Edmonds-Green 75), Schindler (Cranie 46), Malone (Lowe 41); Hogg (van La Parra 60), Whitehead (D Williams 60); Kachunga (Billing 60), Palmer (Lolley 46), Quaner (Ince 46); Depoitre (Mounie 60).

Viktoria Plzen 0 Watford 1

A Stefano Okaka goal 10 minutes from time handed Watford their first victory of pre-season.

The striker, currently the Hornets’ only fit first team forward, scored from close range having been set up new signing Will Hughes.

The former Derby County midfielder had been handed 20 minutes by coach Marco Silva to make a good first impression, and he did just that.

Silva again employed a 4-2-3-1 formation in a match in which neither goalkeeper was overly busy, but right-back Brice Dja Djédjé at least caught the eye, coming on at half-time and impressing in an unfamiliar role on the left flank.

Etienne Capoue was again deployed as part of the attacking midfield three behind the striker, with Ben Watson and Abdoulaye Doucouré occupying the roles in the double pivot.

Watford XI: Gomes (Pantilimon 60); Janmaat, Prödl, Kabasele, Holebas (Dja Djédjé 46); Watson, Doucouré; Berghuis (Amrabat 46), Capoue (Hughes 68), Success (Sinclair 68); Okaka.

    Phillips or Chadli ?
Will Chadli be in starting 11?
    Is Chadli on penalties?

Chadli had a bust up with the boss so he might be moving on. Phillips is a safer bet and he is on set pieces.

Too much in defence if Phillips is your 3rd midfielder.
      You 4 5+million defenders.

That midfield is very weak. Not one marquee player.
You have no Pool, Tott or City in attack.
      That's gonna hurt you.
      I'd downgrade the def.

Regarding Wenger's quotes about Sanchez not leaving..

Wenger on RVP "Our plan is to keep Robin, he is the leader of our club. He is under contract until 2013"... 3 months later he join Man United.

Wenger on Nasri "Samir is very happy at the club and is committed to staying" .. Less than a month later, joins City..

Wenger on Adebayor "I think he'll still be at Arsenal next season".. 15 days later, joins City..

Wenger on Fabregas "Cesc loves the club. We know the Barcelona story goes on for years now, we have to close that".. Less than a month later, joins Barca..

No, and certainly not for the money that's being reported.

Sanchez to City for £60M, and then Lemar from Monaco for £80M?!?!?!

I would be very happy but with Robertson's impending signing I can't justify spending 6.5 on rotation risk.

It's a shame as Milner had huge potential as a FPL prospect.

Ideally want to keep Jay Rod to rotate with Daniels for weeks 3 + 4 as Bournemouth have Man City (H) + Arsenal (A) when West Brom have Stoke (H) + Brighton (A).

True on Rangel not playing and im a fan of rotation keepers. But I see the logic in only foster for first 6 weeks.

You've covered off attacking teams well. Only issue for me I don't see utd opening up in games esp early in season so miki and kaku is a risk.

It's all educated guessing at this stage, the only thing I would note about your team, maybe a few too many not guaranteed starters. McAuley carrying an injury and possibly won't be a starter if WBA sign the centre back they're after. Redmond I'm unsure of as well due to the new manager at Saints and who is going to favour and then Rodriguez at WBA, will he start over Chadli, Phillips, Rondon? Not sure... your bench wouldn't likely come in for them either if they weren't to play.
So I'd aim for more nailed on starters if possible.

    Pogba, Alli, Sane, Loftus-Cheek
    Lukaku, Kane, Rodriguez

    Subs - Tedlin, Mariappa, Matic

Keepers far from fixed. Worried about City rotation. Worried about Kane - sure he will score but is £12.5m - better value elsewhere. And will playing at Wembley effect Spurs.

This season I am trying to focus on proven quality in the Prem, for that reason, I'd choose Kane over Lacazette. Lacazette to me is very overrated and overpriced, I can see him going out to the wing or being a bench warmer if Sanchez stays. Not sure what it is, but I see him being a huge flop.
Or he could be a sensation. Such is fantasy football. But for 10.5 million, I'm not gambling my opening week.

I think Pep will rotate between Aguero and Jesus, reason being I don't think he's to keen on him, if he's willing to listen to offers from Chelsea and other clubs.

RLC I don't think is nailed on, I think he`d be a good rotation player (I've got him on my bench)

also IMO the way the Ox is performing in pre-season, Wenger could play him RWB over bellerin?
