Next up in our summer series of members’ articles, we move to focus on one of the key sources of Fantasy talent – Tottenham Hotspur.

We start by analysing their performance on a team level, assessing last season’s data in order to spot trends and areas improvement. Following that, we drill down into the player data, pinpointing the key individuals.

For this article, we also focus on two specific points of interest for Fantasy managers – assessing the Dele Alli versus Christian Eriksen conundrum, while weighing up the allure of Harry Kane as a “fire and forget” captaincy option.

It’s fair to say that Mauricio Pochettino’s side showed their mettle last season after a disastrous end to 2015/16 saw them pick up two points in the final four fixtures and tumble out of the title race.

Spurs improved their points haul from 70 to 86 and also scored far more goals than beforehand – a total of 86 was far superior to 69 in the previous campaign and more than any team in the top-flight.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

      A saves 0.5m. No brainer.

TBH, Valencia should be an intriguing 6.0m option, his attacking output just doesn't justify 6.5m.

Does anyone have an experience with Roto EPL fantasy? whats the best EPL draft game? Roto looks good with custom scoring but it looks like it minimum 8 managers and surely 8 managers in a draft means there's slim pickings? Is there any other good alternative site (paid or unpaid)?

Chelsea a bit unknown at the start. Alonso was gold last year, to be at the same level again seems unlikely to me. But who knows!

For me, I think its down the selection between 4 players:

    Kane + 5m defender
    Or
Alli + 8m Forward, I.e Chicarito, Iheanacho etc.

The latter seems better value, but the worry of not having Kane is a concern. Also, he starts slow, and they're at Wembley

    What's the consensus here?

Slow starters and wemberly. I don't feel like paying 12.5 for a slow starter I'll pick him up when he's cheaper

              A) No scientific data revealed

It doesn't talk about sustained top speeds or average speeds per sprint etc. Top speed at a given point is a fairly arbitrary measure.

Not really to speed is extremely important. Means his faster than 99% of players in the Premier league and Koeman can really use that to his advantage

Iheanacho may be roatated with Vardy Musa and Slimani.

      And fixtures aren't great.

While Rooney used to cost £13m and is the main striker for Everton and is on pens and free kicks.

However the fixtures aren't great only downside tbh

Similar to my team, though (I think) I'm going for Kola in the 442 set up. I have 8 of your first 11. Yoshida instead of Cedric, Coutinho instead of Salah.

Solid team. GTG. All you need to do now is to check if Austin starts games.

Quite concerned over that as well. Was thinking of swapping Austin for Gayle but I am not sure if Gayle is a bang on starter as well. I think the first few weeks is more of a wait and watch scenario by GW3 we would know the sure shot starters atleast for quite a few clubs.

Yep. The same reason I drop my 6-6.5 forward and went for 6.0 defender. But having a 6.5 striker is good too allowing you to switch to whoever starts/ performs in GW 1 and 2.

I am not really a fan of spending too much on defense moreover, I pick wingbacks over CBs because of their attacking points potential. I normally only consider 2 points from each defender (assuming the fact that they will be conceding goals) unless its a team is performing like Spurs last season, which I believe is going to be difficult this time around.

You are right. I didn't spend much on defender in the past but as we started to see teams having 3 CBs with those fancy attacking wing backs, I guess I should change my game plan.

If Sanchez leaves, it will only be to a PL team, right?

Wenger confirmed yesterday that he is staying at the club. I hope it's true, spent last night destroying my team to get him in 🙁

He'll stay at Arsenal. Wenger would lose too much face now if he was sold.

...unless Arsenal were to receive an absolutely crazy offer, €80m or something. But who is going to pay that when Sanchez will be available to sign a pre-contract on a free transfer in 5 months' time?

For all intensive purposes, 12 months time. Doesn't really count when you can't have the player yet.

Yeah, sure. My only point was that he can be had on a FT next season.

this never happens he will never go on a free.

Plus €80m euro is dirt cheap for Sanchez. That's around £72m and Siggy is being bought for around £50m.

Sanchez is easily worth around £150m in today's market.

He looks almost certain to stay at this point. He won't sign a new deal though unless we have a very good season.

Not confident about a WBA double up st the back. Perhaps try this:

      Dawson > Yoshida
      Defoe > Austin
      Tadic > Phillips/ince/Ritchie
      Zaha/Willian > Salah

So, this morning's (I should get to work instead of doing this) conundrum:

    A. Mane & Salah

    B. Couthino & Alli

    C. Salah & Alli

Option A gives me no Alli or Kane.

    1. rocrocodile
      • 16 Years

I would try to get one from Pool and one from Spurs - ideally Kane & Salah.

That would involve some major restructuring but possible, with the usual midfield and defence budget 4.5 options and the choice between these as 3rd striker:

        A. JRod
        B. Abraham

        ...losing Ihenacho for Kane

    Another draft question:

Is there any advantage to NOT automating your picks using the draft room and staying flexible on the day of the draft? I'm going to a draft with 6 other people for the fun but thinking I'll still just let the computer do it for me. What's a scenario where it might be an advantage to be in control?

Can't it draft the likes of.Costa etc early when clearly you don't want them, despite them having high draft ranks?

      1. bigbudgie
        • 12 Years

no it can't do that because I can set the priority of my own watchlist

          Ah Right.

Well in that case, the only disadvantage is not being able to adapt or react to what's happening with other picks

Different crowd so il put this out there !
Swapped Pogba to Zaha and downgraded Mane to Salah plus upgraded Pied to Yoshida and
    changed to a 352 formation
    Looks more balanced???

    Foster,
    Daniels, Trippier, Yoshida
    KDB,Salah,Willian,Zaha,Ritchie
    Kane,lukaku

    (Elliot,Quaner,Hunemeier,Moreno)

Thoughts on this.? Open to suggestions..

    Thoughts please lads...

    DDG (Elliot)

Cedric / Daniels / Trippier (Mee, Rangel)

    KDB, Salah, Willian, JWP (Carroll)

    Kane, Lukaku, Gayle

Feel I might be good to go. Not sure about lukaku but don't fancy any other Utd mid or fwd.

No arsenal cover so was thinking this change...

    A. JWP. Lukaku
    B. Tadic. Lacazette

Anything else? Maybe Cedric not nailed on? Yo shoes? Or free up cash for Bertrand?
