Next up in our summer series of members’ articles, we move to focus on one of the key sources of Fantasy talent – Tottenham Hotspur.

We start by analysing their performance on a team level, assessing last season’s data in order to spot trends and areas improvement. Following that, we drill down into the player data, pinpointing the key individuals.

For this article, we also focus on two specific points of interest for Fantasy managers – assessing the Dele Alli versus Christian Eriksen conundrum, while weighing up the allure of Harry Kane as a “fire and forget” captaincy option.

It’s fair to say that Mauricio Pochettino’s side showed their mettle last season after a disastrous end to 2015/16 saw them pick up two points in the final four fixtures and tumble out of the title race.

Spurs improved their points haul from 70 to 86 and also scored far more goals than beforehand – a total of 86 was far superior to 69 in the previous campaign and more than any team in the top-flight.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    DDG
    Alonso Kolasinac Trippier Bertrand Aké
    KDB Fabregas Zaha
    Kane Lukaku

    (Elliot Carroll Romeu Quaner)

Thoughts on this bunch? Carroll and Rom should provide 2-3pt bench cover if necessary. If I have to jump on a midfield bandwagon, KDB or Fab are easily downgradeable..can't see beyond 4/5 at the back if playing a Kane Kaku doubler. KDB could become Jesus if I fancied another (c) option.

    DDG (Elliot)
Daniels - Dawson - Trippier - Yoshida (Mee)
Salah - KDB - Alli - Ritchie (Carroll)
    Jesus - Lukaku (Quaner)

Hegazi instead of Dawson and Yoshida to Bertrand maybe?
    Hegazi nailed, anyone knows?

Alli or Eriksen to start with?

I'm hoping Hegazi will play long enough to show he's good, then become nailed.

      I'm going Alli

      Austin if he starts.

I initially went for Gayle, but I've now convinced myself that none of them at this price or below are nailed.

I've found 0.5 to go up to Iheanacho/Chicharito.

Getting pretty close with this one I think...

    Foster, Elliot
    Trippier, Yoshida, Kolasinac, Mee, Hegazi
    KDB, Alli, Willian, Ritchie
    Lukaku, Lacazette, Iheanacho

Iheanacho could become Chicharito. Hegazi could be a different 4.5 defender (e.g. Ogbonna). Yoshida will become Cedric if he is fit. Foster could become Hart.

    Decent?

Very decent. I would worry about Willian (transfer waiting to happen) and Ihenacho (game time with Vardy/Slimani to start) but otherwise all good.

        Thanks mate.

Yeah, Willian will be there until he loses his place (kind of hoping he'll do enough to carry on starting and it'll be Pedro that loses out, but unlikely. Could go Zaha instead I guess? As an Arsenal fan I'm hoping Ramsey gives me an obvious solution.

Think Chicharito is a better option up front? Iheanacho has always impressed me and seems to do well with limited game time. I'm assuming he'll start with Vardy. Could even see Slimani leaving.

Any of my suggestions you think would be better than what I actually have at the moment?

Well, I would not have Ileanacho, because he and Vardy will cause you a headache. Firmino, Defoe, King, Vokes or Barnes.

Then, we don't want to double up on WBA. Are you sure that you want Kolasinac?

Have you enough goals in your midfield? I don't think so.

Not saying it's perfect but you can fit in Kane, Lukaku, Sanchez, KDB and a Liverpool mid:

    Hart
    Yoshida / Daniels / Hegazi / Dunk
    Sanchez / KDB / Salah / Carrol
    Kane / Lukaku

    Elliott / 4.5mid / 4.5fwd / 4.0def

Gotta cover for lukaku. I really want Jesus and kdb because of the way city are firing and their fixtures. And scared to go without Kane.

You can't cover Lukaku. You either have him or not.

Man Utd don't score enough goals to "cover" a player. It can only "kind of" work for covering say Liverpool and Man City players where so many player will be involved in so many goals.

It's like getting Leroy Fer to cover Siggy. It's not Swansea that will do great but the player himself, therefore the points can't be covered.

I'm going with Salah simply because of all his goals in pre-season, his slightly cheaper price tag, the enthusiasm Klopp seems to have shown for him and the fact that I simply like him more than the other 'pool mids based on those flashes of brilliance he showed at Chelsea.

I don't love Pogba and think doubling on him and Lukaku is overkill. Personally I'd downgrade and free up some funds to upgrade either Yoshida or Daniels to a Chelsea defender.

Very similar to my team. I ditched Pogba for Zaha and went Bertrand.

Ive gone Jesus over Kane (cold start concerns)

I may still move Daniels to Kolensic (sp) at Arsenal.

I dont like the united double up, I dont think they'll share goals around and if I was very confident of them scoring loads Mhkytarian would be my pick.

Fodder a little different. Newcastle favourable fixtures for 5th def. Dummet but theres value there once theyve sorted out left back/right back out.

Coutinho, De Bruyne, Fabregas, Ward-Prowse (Loftus-Cheek)
    Kane, Lukaku, Chicharito
