Update Four is now live, introducing heatmaps as a major new feature, along with another round of tweaks and improvements.

Once again Matz1lla has done us proud with his efforts, as we continue to work at enhancing the site and tools on offer.

Here’s what’s included in this update:

Team and Player Heatmaps
As mentioned in our preview article, we’ve tried to go the extra mile with our heatmaps feature.

I always wanted to ensure that, when these were included in our members’ area, they would work with the ability to slice the Opta data by intervals – eg Gameweeks, matches, home and away etc.

Implemented in this way, they suddenly become more effective as a method of analysing player and team performance, not just in a single match, but in a group of fixtures or over the entire season.

So heatmaps can now be found in player and team profiles and in the player and team comparison tools.

You can also get them in the match dashboard, to view traditional team or single player maps for a particular fixture.

We’ve added maps for the following statistics:

Touches
Passes Received
Shots
Chances Created
Recoveries
Challenges Lost
Successful Take ons
Failed Take ons
Goal Attempts Conceded (teams only)
Chances Created Conceded (teams only)
Fouls Conceded (teams only)

Hazard vs Pedro – Touches – 2016/17 All Matches
members

The preview movie below shows the heatmaps in action and the options and possibilities available.

Heatmaps Preview Movie

If you’ve any feedback on the maps or have any requests on other statistics you would like to see mapped, please get in touch via support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Bonus Points System additions
Having added the Baseline Bonus Points System statistics in Update Three, we’ve tweaked this further and implemented the statistics to both the player profiles and player comparison tools.

Baseline BPS is now included as a key statistic when comparing players.

Fantasy Goal Involvement
We’ve always included the goal involvement statistic.

This measured a player’s contribution in terms of goals scored or assisted as a percentage of his team’s goals scored when he was on the pitch.

We’ve now expanded this to offer a new statistic, which takes into account Fantasy assists. This is now found on the player statistic Involvement tables.

What’s coming next?
We’re looking to add Fantasy Premier League prices to our database in order to surface these in our profiles and player tables. The aim is to introduce the ability to filter tables by these prices.

We will then move to include Sky Sports prices in their tables and also build Yahoo Daily Fantasy tables, which will hopefully include player prices for the forthcoming contests.

Expected goals remains a background task as we continue to research and explore options for our model.

Once the season begins, we will also start to address improvements away from the Members’ area and, in particular, look at our HomeCrowd comments system.

You can see our current task list and track our progress through the next update via this roadmap.

You can also send your feedback and requests to me at mark@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Our previous updates are detailed here, here and here.

A reminder that, if you want access to this forthcoming update and other future additions to the members’ area, you can sign up for the new campaign now for our pre-season price of £12.50 (RRP £15.00).

Existing registered users can upgrade via this link. New users, who are yet to get a registered account, can sign up via this link.

If you’re new to the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout membership, you can get full details, along with a series of movies previewing the content, via this page.

Due to the new site additions, if you encounter any loading issues with the images in comparison tool, we advise clearing the browser cache (shift and F5) to resolve this.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Almost the same as mine. I've Alli + Willian instead of Mane + Zaha. If Austin seems nailed, I will go with this team, otherwise switch to 4-4-2 with Alonso.

The herd mentality on here is unbelievable. Gayle and Ritchie were both distinctly average last time around in the prem. Now that a few people have gotten them (especially Ritchie), everyone seems to think they're great picks.

I cant decide whether to go with 4 4 2 at the back to start with this year with Alonso or 3 4 3 with a third nailed on striker like Defoe.

Does anyone know what the stats are like at the beginning of the season for clean sheets and number of goals?

What formation are you going for?

Time to analyse Lacazette's assist potential to see if it will match up with the 30+ goals a season i predict for him.

Lacazette only managed 3 assists last season however he scored 28 out of his team's 77 goals meaning he could only have possibly assisted 49 goals.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's see how this compares with pl players last season:

    1) Kane
    - Scored: 29
    - Assists: 7
    - Could've assisted: 57

    2) Lukaku
    - Scored: 25
    - Assists: 6
    - Could've assisted: 37

    3) Aguero
    - Scored: 20
    - Assists: 5
    - Could've assisted: 60

    4) Jesus
    - Scored: 7
    - Assists: 4
    - Could've assisted - 73

based of these although all of them got more assists than lacazette (barely), all of them apart from lukaku had more goals to assist. Lacazette will flourish in an Arsenal team with excellent link up play and will definitely assist more and be up there with other strikers.

I'm getting him. I always watch the YouTube goals videos of new arrivals. Not the daft skills ones. Just goals. Done that when Michu arrived and saw his potential and got him gw1. Lacazette impresses me not just stat wise but the difference in styles of goals. Seems excellent on both feet. Seems to also be quite willing to shoot from anywhere and good at penalties. Has the poacher ability and seemed to have good pace too. Seems quite a determined player in term of getting onto the ball too. I was very impressed with his clips. All I've really saw of him but you can often spot a player by looking at how they do certain things. He doesn't have any hesitation to shoot on either foot or any range or angle it seems. Thats what I want in an fpl striker

Fully agree with this mate. i also checked out solely his goals at lyon, it amazes me how some people think he may genuinely flop. The man scores goals - it's what he does.

Currently have Walcott and Trippier/Cedric as least favorable options in my squad. Do I:
    A) downgrade Wally to Ramsey or Zaha and invest 0.5 more in defense.
    B) upgrade Wally to Mikhi and downgrade one of Trippier/Cedric to someone cheaper
    C) Stick
