Our series of summer members’ articles continues this afternoon as we assess what’s on offer at the managerial merry-go-round that is Watford.

To begin with, we analyse the Hornets’ performances on a team level, checking out last season’s data in order to spot trends and areas of improvement. Following that, we take a look at the players to pinpoint their key individuals.

For this article, we also focus on new manager Marco Silva’s impact on his former club Hull City after an impressive stint at the KCOM Stadidum during the second half of 2016/17.

Watford parted company with Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of 2015/16, scoring 40 times on their way to finishing in thirteenth spot on 45 points.

Yet the now-departed Walter Mazzarri failed to improve upon those performances in his only season at the helm. The Vicarage Road outfit scored the same number of goals but picked up just 40 points, ending the campaign in seventeenth position.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Lascelles played 6months of last season with an injury, hence the dip in form. He had a big operation over the summer for this hence the lack of pre season minutes.

He was a monster in the first half of the season. Lejeune looks great competition and I suspect Rafa will rotate as he has done in most positions last year.

Agree on Clark. Plus being a lefty adds a bit of balance. We won't know on Lascelles and Lejeune until a couple of weeks into the season, Rafa is hard to second guess.

Only Klopp knows. I think he has a good shot at it but with 90M in their pockets now (If the above news is true), they should be able to get Keita or someone similar to play.

Even if they don't, Milner will still be competing with Henderson, Wijnaldum, Grujic and Can. So I'd avoid Milner to start with.

Benching headache in midfield and defence. I would downgrade 2 mids to 4,5 and upgrade the 3rd and downgrade a defender to 4.0. Then you ll have to choose between 433 and 343 depending on fixtures.

    Short term fix:

    A- Willian

    B- Fabregas

Willian wasn't very visible but same could imply to the whole team yesterday... Fabregas at least got those set pieces but is he more nailed than Willian?

    1. The Neville Wears Prada

both are fairly short term, willian has higher ceiling; willian for now

More explosive. plays much more forward than fab. However, if they are given similar gametime throughout the year, i'd put my money on fabregas. But because it's short term, you might as well get the more exciting prospect

With Alexis not certain to start, i might go for Salah + Mane and decide later who to drop for Sanchez. I guess positive although Lallana's injury together with Coutinho's transfer might bring problems to their gameplay.

All good points. I feel it either increases certain players impact due to increased reliance on them. Or the team suffers from the void left by Coutinho and Lallana (at the start of the season).

Big 3 up top comes with a sacrifice. But Atsu/ Carrol strong pre season and Milivojevic with strong opening fixtures and on pens/freekicks, and also strong pre season I think this can work? Mee can also rotate with the defence. Thoughts?

    Hegazi - Cedric - Daniels

I'd knock Zaha down to get to Jesus (not a fan).
I'd also rather have Mane than Firmino.
If you care Mee rotates great with WB for 1st 8 weeks--none of the top four.

Are Stones & Otamendi good choices to save 0.5 or play it safe with Kompany?

Too long, he was the guy on New Castle to have in the back..
If you rotate Mee with Hegazi you get:
BOU WB STK CP/brt WH HUD WAT WH for 8 games but who knows how long hegazi runs.

My theory if you are having two 4.0s take two New Castle. But who knows.

Guys I need an honest opinion .
Playing a draft league ( 8 playeers ) by auction where everyone gets to bid , and missed out on a lot of attacking options .So had to go with the following
    Foster/begovic
    kolasinac/Bertrand/Valencia/Trippier/Azpilicueta
    Mane/ Zaha/Lanzini/Ince/Ritchie
    Firmino/Defoe/Iheanacho
looking at starting atleast 4 defenders..
As part of a free trade after auction , few options are available

    a. francis,shaqiri,arnautovic,redmond,knockaert,mooy,klaasen,fer,philips
    b.tammy,rodriguez,austin,gayle,mitrovic,mounie,gray,vokes,afobe

any suggestions regarding changes .Thanks in advance

    Foster Elliot
    Davies Cedric Daniels Mee 4.0

Can this be improved for the same money?

Been asked before I guess, but what's the deal with the RMT scale 1/10?
    Wouldn't 1/15 be more accurate?

I'm liking Stephens these days. he had 10 bonus and one YC in 1500 mins last season. 0.4% ownership last night.
