Our series of summer members’ articles continues this afternoon as we assess what’s on offer at the managerial merry-go-round that is Watford.

To begin with, we analyse the Hornets’ performances on a team level, checking out last season’s data in order to spot trends and areas of improvement. Following that, we take a look at the players to pinpoint their key individuals.

For this article, we also focus on new manager Marco Silva’s impact on his former club Hull City after an impressive stint at the KCOM Stadidum during the second half of 2016/17.

Watford parted company with Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of 2015/16, scoring 40 times on their way to finishing in thirteenth spot on 45 points.

Yet the now-departed Walter Mazzarri failed to improve upon those performances in his only season at the helm. The Vicarage Road outfit scored the same number of goals but picked up just 40 points, ending the campaign in seventeenth position.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Apparently a quote from Mark Noble today: “We’ve brought in quality this summer. Chicha still needs to get match fit – he got a good 45 mins on Friday.”

Tweaked earlier team. Midfield had Willian but Redmond now as better fixtures which let me improve defence (Francis to Ake) and Willian did not look great today. Is this looking OK?

    Foster
    Stephens Ake Kolasinac Danilo
    Mane Redmond Ritchie
    Lukaku Kane Jesus

    Elliot RLC Carroll Suttner

I think the three heavy hitters up front has made your mids weak. Mané a great pick but would be wary of Ritchie & Redmond as weekly starters.

Would Mane Willian Zaha be better and take 1.5 from defence?

I like the defence.. I think it's the heavy hitting strikeforce that limits you in midfield. Zaha definitely a better option Imod

If you are set on the heavy front three, I'd downgrade one of Ake/Suttner/Stephens to save 0.5 and change Mane to Salah/Coutinho.

Use the 1.0 to set up a three way rotation with Redmond/Ritchie/A.N.Other

    Hi guys, RMT please:

    Foster - (Elliot)
    Davies - Yoshida - Kolasinac - (Rangel - Hunemeier)
    Willian - Mane - KDB - Milivojevic - (Carrol)
    Kane - Gabbi - Lukaku

    Regards.

Milivojevic is probably in the back three at Palace...steer clear.

      Two probably non-playing 4.0 defs...one needs to be a decent 4.5m

Gabbi a severe rotation risk with Austin.

        Why would you steer clear?

He's 5m, even if he was playing in MF you would not pick him for any other reason other than he takes a few free kicks and is on pens, his position is irrelevant as long as he plays and takes those.

Usually it's based on a lack of willingness to commit to a decision, i.e. me going Baines + Coleman last season, can pay off but means putting all your eggs in one basket

    3. Sánchez
      • 13 Years
      8 years, 4 months ago

I like it when its not overly expensive. I'm set on Bertrand and Cedric in a 433 currently. Fixtures are very appealing and trippier injury tipped me to Bertrand. I often used to find a pair of rotating cheap teams and got 2 from each to rotate. Usually 1 keeper 1 defender. Always fancied trying 2x triple up with 1 big hitting defender but never had the balls to go all out with that

      1. PvA
        • 9 Years
        8 years, 4 months ago

How has the double ups worked for you in the past?

Seems much less of a risk as it takes 1 goal and half your defence loses their CS (in a 343)

True dat. Non negotiable starters. You can build a serious team without them but what's the point when you'd just have to dismantle it to get them back in again.

Probably... But to be honest I prefer being wrong doing something different rather than limiting my squad to 13 players out of fear.

There is always a wildcard if it all all goes waywards.

    RMT Please, out of 10?

    Foster

    Danilo - Darmian - TAA

    KDB - Salah - Willian - Ritchie

    Kane - Lukaku - Gabbiadini

Realise Defence is risky but all should be starting, could get DDG and replace Darmian with a 4.5m defender, any suggestions?
