Our summer series of members’ articles – offering an in-depth team-by-team analysis of 2016/17 – continues with West Bromwich Albion.

To begin with, we’ll look at the performance levels over the team statistics in an attempt to spot trends or improvements.

We then delve into the player data, analysing the key individuals as we scour for early targets ahead of the new season.

In addition, we’ll check in on the Baggies’ threat from set-pieces, in particular, with their reliance on dead-ball situations remaining pivotal to their prospects.

West Brom certainly upped their attacking output in the previous season.

Pulis’ side netted a mere 34 goals – the second-worst record in the top-flight – on their way to finishing in fourteenth spot in 2015/6. Yet last term, they found the net on 43 occasions to claim tenth position.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Is Ritchie worth the 0.5 extra outlay over someone like Groß or Fraser?

Looking through Cities fans forums, the majority of them, when doing predicted line ups, are leaving out one of Kun or Jesus. Spending 10.5/11.5mil on uncertain starters just seems wrong

    The ultimate question...

    KDB and Kane + JRod

    Or

    Jesus and Alli/Eriksen + Firmino

I've gone with KdB + Kane + Mounie although from those two options I'm more inclined to B. I just can't risk going without Kane, tho, and I don't rate Firmino particularly highly

Just a temporary punt to get in on cheapish Chelsea mid. He scored plenty if points in little game time last year. Can be swapped for Zaha or someone fairly easy when Haz is back.

    de Gea
    Alonso | Kolasinac | Dawson
de Bruyne | Mané | Tadic | Fraser
    Lukaku | Jesus | Mounie
    (Elliot | Carroll | Mee | Mason [4.0])

    What do you think?

I have a player from all the big teams apart from Spurs. I could downgrade de Bruyne to Alli and use £0.5 to upgrade elsewhere since I have Jesus already. That would in reality give me one more captaincy option since de Bruyne and Jesus have the same fixtures every week. Kane’s a bit too expensive, it’s hard to find that extra £2.0. Alonso to Daniels could be an option, but I’ll wait.

I’m relying on Alonso and Kolasinac to give me kind-of attacking cover from Chelsea and Arsenal. Dawson gets the nod over Daniels due to better fixtures in the beginning, and Mee rotates covers him well for West Brom’s difficult matches.

Tadic could be upgraded to Willian, but Tadic seems more nailed in the longer run, has better fixtures in the beginning and costs less.

Mané seems pretty fixture proof and should be a good captaincy option. The possible departure of Coutinho might affect Liverpool’s attack, obviously.

Lukaku and Carroll are the two most obvious picks for a 3-4-3.

That leaves me with £11.5 for a fourth mid and a third striker. Fraser and Mounie are in my team now, but perhaps Abraham and Ritchie would be better? Or just Groß instead of Fraser? Is Mounie to much of a gamble?
