Our summer series of members’ articles – offering an in-depth team-by-team analysis of 2016/17 – continues with West Bromwich Albion.

To begin with, we’ll look at the performance levels over the team statistics in an attempt to spot trends or improvements.

We then delve into the player data, analysing the key individuals as we scour for early targets ahead of the new season.

In addition, we’ll check in on the Baggies’ threat from set-pieces, in particular, with their reliance on dead-ball situations remaining pivotal to their prospects.

West Brom certainly upped their attacking output in the previous season.

Pulis’ side netted a mere 34 goals – the second-worst record in the top-flight – on their way to finishing in fourteenth spot in 2015/6. Yet last term, they found the net on 43 occasions to claim tenth position.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Any ideas? What you guys think?

    Hart/Foster
    Miller/Trippier/Cedric/Mee/Naughton
    DeBruyne/Alli/Willian/Phillips/Can
    Kane/Firmino/Gayle

Not feeling comfortable with Naughton. Also thinking about Zaha insted of Willian and upgrading Firmino to Jesus (who should I downgrade then?)

Any reasons why a double of Kun+Jesus would be considered bad (aside from the obvious lack of a different captaincy pick)?
I have my heavy hitting mids as an option too, although I don't think I'll look past Kun for the majority of games till GW10. Also, it's not like I'll go on with both of them forever - changes can be made if issues arise.

I think that City have addressed their biggest issues with the transfer activity this summer and I back them to be the most attacking side in the league - I'm pretty comfortable about starting with both.

No reason for me, assuming that you prefer Kun to Kane and Jesus to Lacazette.

If Pep does rotate you've a lot of cash on the bench, easy to swap one out i guess. I think people like Lukaku and Kane as they're the main attacking threat at their team. It's not split like at city.

Could pay off. I'm a more conservative player though, so I like to "spread" the risk and avoid double ups before I can see teams with good form.

Very tempted to double up, but I always get burned because of these types of gambles early on. Trying to resist the temptation and playing it a bit safe for once. Finding it very difficult as I can see City scoring for fun.

That's my thought process - why not have both of them at the tip of the spear. I've seen plenty of teams with an MU double up up front - Kaku + Pogs/Mkhi. It's obvious that Mou goes for results and doesn't care for goals, whereas Pep and City are gonna try to stuff in as many as they can.

    Ryan Elliot
    Mee Daniels Bertrand Fosu-Mensu Dann
    William KDB Salah Carroll Chamboah
    Benteke Kane Lukaku.

Nothing in the bank. From here what would you do with the defence?

Obvious plan is 3-4-3 with carroll playing.

    DDG / Elliot

    Kolasinac / Cedric / Ake / Mee / Hunemeier

    Willian / Zaha / KDB / Alli / Carroll

    Lukaku / Jesus / Mounie

Is lack of Liverpool mids a problem??

      • 10 Years

He's been in my team from the start, but I'm personally having doubts about his playing time. I do believe he's nailed, and if Sanchez stays almost always as the main striker, but Giroud is still a good player and a good tactic, and I can see Wenger bringing him on for Laca at 80 mins at the latest every game, whether they're winning or not. I suppose it's not that bad if the worse case scenario is that Laca gets 70 mins per game, but that's a lot of potential minutes lost for 10.5m, when even Jesus at City could get at least that many minutes. Still probably getting him though.

I think other people have other issues, like the feeling that he's not an out-and-out striker. The feeling that he's not a Giroud! Haha
