The final countdown has begun with the new season kick-off now less than 24-hours away.

Earlier the week the ScoutCast grew gathered as the clock ticked down, with Jonty, Andy and Luke joining myself to tackle a raft of perfectly targeted questions from you – the community.

Each of us take turns to reveal our current line-ups, while the collection of queries allowed us to put each of the four positions under the microscope. On occasions, we even broke from the ScoutCast tradition to provide some definitive answers.

Pre-season gremlins struck as I dropped out in full flow on Paul Pogba, but I managed to return to steer the ship towards its final destination – the first weekend preview of the new campaign.

It’s good to be back.

    Someone convince me it's ok to go without Kane. I have Lukaku and Jesus up front with Alli as cover

      I've been trying to convince myself of the same thing, but I can't seem to do it. I mean, he scored 224 points in 2523 minutes last season. Lukaku scored 221 points...in 3266 minutes. Essentially, Lukaku played in 8.25 more games than Kane and still didn't outscore him. And it is for that reason that he is definitely going to be in my squad...

          First half of the Community Shield they looked all right. Bunch of players trying to prove themselves before players return. It's not as predictable as you make it sound imo

    How's this looking? Wondering about swapping DDG and Dawson to Foster and Bailly as it might be easier to switch out Bailly for someone else if needed.

        That's true - that's why I've got that combo for now. Just thinking if another 6m defender comes up and United are struggling it's harder to then swap... Probably worth Dawson's goal threat though.

      As long as you are okay with a pretty weak midfield...and defense...it's fine. You're going to sacrifice a lot of points in those two spots for the heavy hitters you've got up front.

      No Spurs is a bit troubling. I don't think that Kane is absolutely necessary, but without Alli or Eriksen you're going to be losing a lot of points.

      I have a feeling pied will olay over cedric gw1.. i also had cedric but switched to stephens to be safe.

      Not sold on lacazette but could be a good differential if he hits the ground running. Goodluck

      Interesting. I think the issue you'll run into is what happens to Willian once Hazard is healthy. He wasn't locked-on last season, and I can't see that changing this season. You'll probably be fine for a few weeks, but after that it could be an issue. Also, I thought I heard that Yoshida might be out this GW. Other than that, it looks pretty decent.

      Personally, Mounie. Not really for any good reason, though. Maybe just that fact that JRod has been a bit underwhelming and we have no idea about Mounie. Huddersfield could present issues when it comes to scoring, too. There was an article on this site that projected their goal total for the season, and it was basically what Middlesbrough did last year (which wasn't great). That said, Negredo wasn't a bad FWD to have.
