The final countdown has begun with the new season kick-off now less than 24-hours away.

Earlier the week the ScoutCast grew gathered as the clock ticked down, with Jonty, Andy and Luke joining myself to tackle a raft of perfectly targeted questions from you – the community.

Each of us take turns to reveal our current line-ups, while the collection of queries allowed us to put each of the four positions under the microscope. On occasions, we even broke from the ScoutCast tradition to provide some definitive answers.

Pre-season gremlins struck as I dropped out in full flow on Paul Pogba, but I managed to return to steer the ship towards its final destination – the first weekend preview of the new campaign.

It’s good to be back.

    Has anyone considered Wijnaldum? I'm trying to get a Liverpool player into the squad, and in order to get Salah or Countinho, I get left weak up front. Firmino is too expensive for a third striker, and I can't justify him as a second given the depth for the top two spots. So I'm left wondering if Wijnaldum might be the answer. He started in 31 of the 38 games last season, was the fourth highest scorer, and earned a pretty respectable 4.1 points per match. My worry is that with Salah (and others in the midfield), he might be at risk for rotation (or benching). Does someone have some insight they could share with me on his prospects this season?

      His home/road splits are entertaining to say the least. He will start this week since Coutinho is out, when they're playing away, not sure on GW 2. Can will also be in contention for that spot next to Henderson and Cout (if he stays).

        See, that's my worry. Too much competition. And I think that adding Salah to the mix just makes it worse. Not that Salah is taking his spot, per se, but because of the knock-on effect of trying to reposition others from that midfield.

          Lallana being out obviously helps Wij's chances but you're still looking at Can, Wij and possibly Milner (lol) vying for that one spot in the 3 man midfield.

              I honestly think he starts every game against "weaker opposition" so should be safe first two weeks. I can see Klopp bringing in Can for him against top 6 + Everton though.

      Gross is a great cheap option.. I think his price will slowly increase.

      Carroll... MUST be first choice sub... no use being behind Mee & Dunk

      Fabregas... Id rather Willian, or Zaha for that matter.

      Had a squad that looked a lot like that one for quite a while. Pretty good balance. Not thrilled about Fab as starting GK, and Kompany, I think, is just waiting to be broken again. Gotta hope that Abraham can acclimate, too. That said, not too bad.
