The ScoutCast – Episode 228 – Countdown

The final countdown has begun with the new season kick-off now less than 24-hours away.

Earlier the week the ScoutCast grew gathered as the clock ticked down, with Jonty, Andy and Luke joining myself to tackle a raft of perfectly targeted questions from you – the community.

Each of us take turns to reveal our current line-ups, while the collection of queries allowed us to put each of the four positions under the microscope. On occasions, we even broke from the ScoutCast tradition to provide some definitive answers.

Pre-season gremlins struck as I dropped out in full flow on Paul Pogba, but I managed to return to steer the ship towards its final destination – the first weekend preview of the new campaign.

It’s good to be back.

      solid, just the worry in willian in two weeks time, could downgrade forster to up him to silva/pogba I guess? not many options at 8m but surely theyv got more time nailed

        not impressed by the 8.0 mids. willian is as good or better than those on offer. it's the 7 bracket otherwise you have to jump to 9.5 to see a difference in quality.

        forster has great fixtures in the first 8. should keep a few clean sheets.

      Looks good. Walker too pricey though. A downgrade get you something better than Fraser?

        not much better around that price point in the mids. ritchie is decent but i want to see newcastle in action first.

        i wouldn't gain much by adding a million on to fraser, if you know what i mean?

          True but better to bank 1.0 and pick someone hopefully nailed at 5.5 (Danilo or Otemendi) - will Walker be straight in for a full 90?

          I've gone with Atsu for 5.0 but sure who knows in that price bracket!

      bench is a bit weak. how about alonso to a 6.0 defender, then upgrade speroni to begovic (rotates with ryan) and mariappa to mee (rotates with suttner)

    Can;t pick a Soton defender. Cedric looks right, Stephen's was decent but Yoshida is safest?

    Also is a defense of Jones, Danilo, Holding and Cedric madness. It gives me a viable striker in Abraham.

    Alternatively it's Valencia, Danilo, Cedric, Fosu-mensah(Cpl) but with a sh!tter as a striker. A fodder striker is ok since kane and Lukaku are there

    but yeah is the defense too ropey?

    Last conundrum (until another pops up).
    I have been going with Ake over Daniels due to better stats when he was going so well last season.

    Seems like Ake will at best be on the left side of central defence with Daniels left back thiugh.

    Ake actually is not 100% nailed it seems too atm.

    Am I much better moving for Daniels here (or maybe even Steve Cook if he is available)?

    Any other alternatives at 5.0m?
    Kolas, Cedric, Dummett, Mee....
    Foster, Elliot my other defenders atm.

          TCs set pieces sets him above all other 4.5 options (including RLC). JWP is a great player but not sure of the changes due to their new signing from Juve.
