The ScoutCast – Episode 228 – Countdown

The final countdown has begun with the new season kick-off now less than 24-hours away.

Earlier the week the ScoutCast grew gathered as the clock ticked down, with Jonty, Andy and Luke joining myself to tackle a raft of perfectly targeted questions from you – the community.

Each of us take turns to reveal our current line-ups, while the collection of queries allowed us to put each of the four positions under the microscope. On occasions, we even broke from the ScoutCast tradition to provide some definitive answers.

Pre-season gremlins struck as I dropped out in full flow on Paul Pogba, but I managed to return to steer the ship towards its final destination – the first weekend preview of the new campaign.

It’s good to be back.

      His stats are also impressive, was comparing him to wing backs last night in the members section and he's as good as Alonso for that.

        Basically the same as everyone else as it turns out except I have Lacazette/Jesus/Mkhitaryan instead of Kane/Lukaku/6.0-7.0 midfielder.

            I'm really tempted by the 3-5-2, there are so many midfielders who I think will have great seasons. But I find I can't spare the million to upgrade from Carroll and having somebody who will just never play makes me uncomfortable.

                Nah, I mean I like having Carroll as a 5th mid instead of a 4.5 striker who will never play and I can't find the million to upgrade to a 5.5 striker who will play.

    For the first couple of gw's I think MCI & Liverpool will score a lot of goals & keep cs's so I'm maximising a double attack & having a defender from each team. I also will not have any Spurs until gw3 when I'll get Kane. I think my option in attack with Lukaku with Firmino & Jesus will score more than Lukaku with Kane & a cheapish attacker like Gabby/Mounie for example. What do you think of my team. Thoughts & thanks:

      I went w/ OPTION-#2.... Top Reasons BELOW:
      * Feels like duo in #1 less consistent (especially KDB)!
      * KDB for almost ALL of last season except GW36/37!!
      * LOT of Cash Svd! {Upgrd Mid@£7->£8.5 + Def£4.5->£5.5}
      * Fan of all 4...but love watching bottom 2!

      ^Random SIDENOTE: Your Split into 2-Options def seem to be the fitting 'matches' out of the 4, on a lot of different lvls! (just a kinda weird personal observation)

      B...but an obvious risk going without Lukaku. You have to remember that if Lukaku scores a brace against West Ham, you are immediately playing catch-up...conversely, of course, were Lucky to blank, you have a nice head start and Luks price will drop fairly quickly as a consequence. I personally am going Jesus over Luk. Depends if you want to play aggressively and esoterically or safe and conservative.

          agreed...it is still the big ponderable for me, but i'm not convinced on United and feel City are set up to attack and play more free flowing. I am hoping (hope...the currency for those not winning :)) that united have a slight hangover from the heated conditions of the super cup and that west ham turn up at old Trafford...will probably back my gut feelings and ignore ownership though mate...for me City have a much better fixture too

      I do not like that midfield. I think you need a big guy in there. Maybe try and upgrade Miki to Salah? Downgrade Pedro to WIllian?
