Two of the three most popular players in Fantasy Premier League take to the field as Tottenham Hotspur make their way to Newcastle United in the 1.30pm kick-off.

Harry Kane is the main captaincy pick for Sunday’s early fixture. Owned by 37% of FPL managers, he’s been handed the armband by 22% on the back of 7.5 points per match last season.

The Spurs frontman was also runner-up in our Gameweek 1 Captain Poll after netting seven times in his final two away appearances of 2016/17.

Meanwhile, his team-mate Dele Alli is the most owned midfielder in the game, sitting in 38% of squads for the trip to Tyneside.

Both Alli and playmaker Christian Eriksen supplied 6.1 points per match last term and face a defence with just eight clean sheets in 23 home fixtures in the Championship.

Meanwhile, with the Magpies’ fixtures turning kindly next weekend, we get the chance to scout the likes of Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle as potential mid-price options for our squads.

Elsewhere, Rob Elliot gets the nod between the posts for the home side – he’s currently the only active 4.0-priced keeper in the game.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Surely Kane at least deserves the next 2 games? A makeshift Che defence and an awful Burnley team. Gotta get a couple there...

Only cos Cahill got sent off, were heading for a hammering til then. No threat forward, poor on the ball and Chelsea very threatening in attack

My captain Lukaku could score a hat trick and I'd still end up on a rubbish score this gw. 😆

Last season I had my highest finish and started playing in gw 3. Should have just done the same this season. Upwards and onwards as they say.

People posting such low scores in the 20s must be trolling for sympathy?

Who did you have in defence? Clean sheets for Southampton, Man City, Tottenham, West Brom, Everton, Swansea, Huddersfield.

Plus most of the good attacking options did well. Mane, Salah, Alli, Willian, Aguero, Lacazette, Morata...

Spurs efficient. Their midfield still looks class. Eriksen is the one I need to think about bringing in. Dembele is a top player, but not a FPL pick. Kane will score a lot this season, but thankfully for my Kaneless team, not today.

Newcastle hampered by in match injuries and a reminder that Shelvey can be a class A numpty at times. Merino should take his place in the next game. Atsu had some bright moments. Ritchie was Ritchie, but no assist or goal out of the blue. God knows about the defence next week, Mbemba ended up as right back, Ritchie at left back and Manquillo as right winger, but that must have been because they had no subs left.

kane to firmino and zaha to eriksen/alli?

eriksen and alli incredible value compared to kane even without pens. Both played as high up as kane and were involved more

firmino decent price alternative to kane

allows me to upgrade rest of midfield too

      Yes, and with good reason.

Had a perfectly respectable 50 points this week, but there's one too many main men at City and Jesus had to go, along with Gabbi. Firmino on pens is a must have, Vardy continues his great form and looks undroppable, Hegazi emerges as a 4.5 albion goalscorer and a triple up of Kane, Alli and Eriksen looks to be a headache-free season keeper. Palace are clearly not ready yet and Zaha has to go, injured or otherwise.

I found 24 points of hits this week to bring my team in line with something i'm much happier with. No point hanging around over a few points here or there that might be gained later down the line in a DGW

Why does the price drop scare you? (And who knows if he will even drop?)

He's the most expensive player in the game so a price drop still doesn't price you out of getting any other player.
