Can you call it a comeback? Avid listeners – and there are some, honest – will certainly hope that Granville’s return to ScoutCast action will be repeated.

For now, we just have to savour him gatecrashing our early season party, armed with a very reasonable Gameweek 1 tally.

Granville joins myself, Jonty, Andy and Az in a five-aside episode for the post-mortem of the opening weekend.

Once again we embrace your community questions, going in studs showing on all the key issues, as we assess the Zaha replacements and strap our knees to the desk to discuss De Bruyne and Kane.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Anyone fancy Son for this week? I'm tempted to get him in for Willian against the corpse of Chelsea's backline, but I'm worried he might not start. Take the punt this week or wait until next week?

Willian probably best chance of scoring and 99.6 so probably 7.1 by time game kicks off. I'm playing

Can see the appeal. What's the worst that can happen? A transfer out if injured on international duty. The upside is that he could get some serious points gw 3 and maybe even gw 2.

Burnley can be problematic at Turf Moor, but not so much on the road. Last year they conceded 20 at home and 35 away.

Uncertainty of start and 1.5 to use next week made me get Mooy instead. Ramsey was in my team all the way up to injury flagged. If he starts and scores Willian may become him next week

        swaying towards that meself

Ramsey tends to do well vs Stoke by the way, and judging by the evidence of Arsenals last twenty minutes, Ramsey sure looks destined to at least get chances (found that he had scored 2 and had one assist vs Stoke in 5 matches)

Lukaku & Firmino owner. But I'm one of only two teams in the top 5 in my ML with Kane. Considering giving him the armband against a beat up and reeling Chelsea at home. I think people are underestimating his chances at a haul and that any time Harry Kane could be a differential, it's probably worth a shot.

    Am I crazy?

It's not crazy but ignoring Lukaku when he's owned by half of all managers and coming off the back of a brace probably isn't wise. There's whole season left for alternative captaincy picks, just play it safe this early.

    1. Turbolag
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 29 days ago

Doesn't seem like there are any great captain picks this week.

-Liverpool have a great fixture, but their front 3 all played at least 84 minutes vs Hoffenheim and there are question marks surrounding a couple of their key players

-Chelsea and Tottenham, two of last years top defenses, play each other

-City play a Ronald Koeman defense

-United and Arsenal are both away to teams that I expect will be pretty solid defensively at home.

      1. _Make
        • 9 Years

United are playing a Swansea side who conceded nearly 30 shots against Southampton. I think Lukaku is a decent shout.

        1. Turbolag
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 29 days ago

That same Swansea defense only conceded 11 in 9 home matches under Clement last year.

            • 9 Years
            9 years, 29 days ago

Fair point but I think they couldn't have set up more defensively than vs Southampton and they were extremely lucky not to concede at least one goal.

            1. Coot
              • 16 Years
              9 years, 29 days ago

The whole of the second half, they sat back vs Soton, inviting them in. It was like attack vs defence. Soton never really looked like scoring mind (certainly not what the 30 shots would indicate anyway).

          2. Kenneth Tang
            • 14 Years
            9 years, 29 days ago

Agree mostly. But I will say Liverpool's front three and Lukaku should still be categorized as "good pick of captain".

Due to the saga/injury of Coutinho & Sturridge, Klopp doesn't trust any others to replace Firmino/Mane/Salah in the starting line-up. Assume they play 70 mins, should be long enough to destroy Crystal Palace, which is in a big mess of their defence positioning and organization. If the score-line is tight by then, it just means they will last longer on the pitch, then the early resting concern is not valid anymore.

Swansea conceded 1.22 goals at home in average, but MU is not an average team. If we expect MU to score 1.5 to 2 goals this match, you will fancy one of them are related to Lukaku.

Zaha loses 250,000 owners. FPL Statistics has him at -104.9 and still he doesn't drop in price. Any fairly simple to understand explanation for how rises and falls work?

    1. Football Weekender

I think him being flagged has something to do with it - increases the threshold for a drop I believe.

Firmino isn't going to score a hattrick.

If Palace were still under Allardyce I'd say 2-2. As it is, 4-1 to Pool.

      3-1

Mane, Salah and Can amongst the goal (not a Can owner) and Firmino double assist, Moreno assisting Can

      Dann will provide Palace´s goal

I hate having my captain in the early K.O.

Let's hope Clement has a big night on the pop tonight and can't function properly when delivering his team talk and tactics tomorrow.

Would look at this front 7 when Hazard is back and hitting form:
    KDB - Hazard - Atsu/5.5 - RLC/Carrol
    Kane - Lukaku - Firmino

    Playing 3-4-3/4-3-3 depending on fixtures

    Hi all!

First time posting after I've been reading this site for a long while.

GTG? Normally a 3-4-3 but just feel that 4 in defence this week would turn out good for me.

    Elliot
    Kolasinac Stephens Daniels Mee
    KDB Salah Willian
    Kane (VC) Lukaku (C) Gabbiadini

    Ryan Gross Carroll Long

    1 FT and 0.0 ITB

    Appreciate all the comments
