Two Gameweeks down and already the dilemmas are building; the siren song of the Wildcard button is calling.

Failing big hitters are the major bone of contention as Jonty, Andy and Luke join me for the second ScoutCast of the season.

We give our verdicts on Spurs talisman Harry Kane, while also assessing the fall-out from Manchester City and, in particular, the shot-shy Kevin De Bruyne.

Driven by another round of community questions, we also chew over The Pogba vs Mkhitaryan debate and the big Bournemouth bail out, before previewing Gameweek 3.

Oh, and after his ten point return on the Aaron Mooy investment, we wrestle to prevent Jonty dropping his name into the conversation at every opportunity. I think I counted two. That’s a win for everyone involved.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think he could still be golden. Not a lot has changed. He got rested. He's scored in both his senior starts.

For me, he's got a strikers instinct. Perhaps more so than Mane and Firmino. I think he will have games where he does nothing and then nicks a goal and max bonus.

Ye I fancy him as a pick , should get returns if he's started hopefully. Doubling down on Kane anyway so a lot rests on his performance more so.

    Hello!

Looking at some team comparison heatmaps I noticed an important problem that should be solved as soon as possible. I also sent an e-mail to the Scout so I hope they see it. So, select 'Chances Created Conceded (Assists in Green)’ for a specific team then apply either the home/away filter for all matches. Have a look at the dots being shown. Then select ‘Chances Created Conceded Heatmap’. You will notice the 'Chances Created Conceded (Assists in Green)’ does not correspond to the corresponding heatmap. I started looking more in depth and I noticed that the heatmap actually corresponds to the reverse home/away fixtures. So if you initially selected 'All Home Matches’ the heatmap that you are shown is for the ‘All Away Matches’ and vice-versa. So there is either a problem with the heatmaps being inversed or the ‘Chances Created Conceded (Assists in Green)’ inversed.
I hope you understand. Hope you fix this as soon as possible!

Yeah, it seems when you apply home and away filters to the Chances Created Conceded query, it's missing some events. Seems fine when selecting all matches, its only when you slice. I think I know the issue. Good spot - thanks. We will get a fix scheduled for Monday.

This is from Wikipedia, so take it with a grain of salt:

"In almost all domestic and international club cup competitions, any player who makes an appearance for a club at any stage of the competition is 'tied' to that club for all future matches during that season in the same competition."

I think the key word there is "appearance." If Conte were to name him, and if he actually made the bench, Costa might simply refuse to take the field and, thus, avoid making an "appearance."

But maybe I'm just reading this wrong...

He cost me a mini league one year. My main rival had him across a horrible run of fixtures and he couldn't stop scoring. Instead of being smart and buying him as well, I was obstinate.

        Problem area Defence:

Really caught in two minds of whther to take a hit on Danieels or not, he's dropping in price, Hegazi is going up and has excellent fixtures for the next few weeks, a hit would surely be justified seeing as my options this week are Daniels vs City or Mee vs Spurs.

        So
        a) Daniels -> Hegazi
        b) Daniels -> Alternate (Jones, Dawson, Trippier etc)
        c) Upgrade long and play his upgrade this week
        d) don't take a hit

I lost Kolasinac for him. I have watched both Chelsea games so far and I just can't go without him, simple as that. People talk about it Alonso as you have an extra midfielder, they are incorrect, you have an extra LWF, he genuinely plays that far forward.

I was thinking about the prospect of selling Ritchie, so I checked his alternatives' stats and the only thing is the current bandwagons don't really stand out much stats wise, they just had the luck their shot on target actually went in. People would be all over him if his also did.

For cheap midfielders the stats are basically nonexistent atm. Chamberlain with 9 shots is 2nd in the league, which makes him stand out out of similary priced mids, but only 2 were on target. Mooy has 2 crosses more than Ritchie (12 to 10) and 7 more corners taken (12 to 5), but that's mainly due to his team playing better football in the first 2 and he also plays in a less advanced role. All in all, Ritchie is on every dead ball duty and has nice fixtures to go with it, he still stands out on paper...although Mooy has in fact looked like a decent pick so far and the stats support it.

8 shots, 2 on target, 3 crosses, not on corners, no dead ball duties and fixtures are also not as good. I won't be buying him just yet, might turn out to be a good pick, but as I said the stats are very unconvincing for all, so it's impossible to make any reasonable decisions, that's why I'm sticking with what's best on paper.

I think if you have Ritchie as your only issue, you're sitting pretty and I agree - no urgency to get rid - the options on that bracket are still settling down. It's difficult to read currently. We need a tad more data.

Exactly. Unfortunately he's the only starting player that's blanked twice for me, but it's difficult to sell a player when there's little reason behind for doing so.

Yep. So if we don't have enough information about statistics yet, making them an unknown and consequently an irrelevant factor, the 2 biggest factors are dead ball duties and fixtures.

He's totally my type on paper.

Stats don't count for much to the casuals - that's how bandwagons get rolling early on.

It's a long time until may and I'm hoping he fulfills his potential.

Posted this a bit ago, does this turn you off (K)ane?

Despite owning Kane, I think am going to go Lukaku (C) for these reasons:

            - Lukaku has 5 goals in 7 against Leicester, compared to Kane's 2 goals in 5 against Burnley
            - Last season result (Burnley don't get blown out):
            MU vs Leicester 4-1
            Leicester vs MU 0-3
            Spurs vs Burnley 2-1
            Burnley vs Spurs 0-2
            - Despite Kane's stats, the one stat that's hard to ignore is 3 in 2 from Lukaku
            - I'm starting to believe Kane's August Kurse is real

Definitely Kane this week, we got away last week with Lukaku. Leicester plays on the counter attack so i think they will be tough to break and i can't see many goals in this one. Kane gotta deliver this week, we were unlucky with his blanks in the first 2 gw.

I have seen quite a few templates with 4.5 m in starting line up, I think it s a bad move because basically you re playing with 10 men every week. Anyone else agrees, thanks 🙂

A handful that will play every week and get the occasional goal

Nothing wrong with a 4.5 or 5 enabler imo if they play

No as Carroll and rlc are pretty nailed.
It also allows Alonso who is basically an extra mid.

              4.5 defender and 7.0 mid
              Vs
Alonso (mid with defensive points) and 4.5 mid

Hopefully not for a while unless injuries/rotation bite really deep

Want to use it during the second international break. We should have ample information by then and there are some fixture swings. Wouldn't be surprised if I end up using it before that though.
