Friday afternoon has us switch focus to the Sky Sports game to look back at the previous Gameweek, before helping prepare your squads for the forthcoming matches.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and present our Watchlist of players, before moving on to the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 2 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points last time out.

FixtureMoTM
Swansea vs Man UnitedHenrikh Mkhitaryan
Bournemouth vs WatfordRicharlison
Burnley vs West BromAhmed Hegazi
Leicester vs BrightonHarry Maguire
Liverpool vs Crystal PalaceAndrew Robertson
Southampton vs West HamJavier Hernandez
Stoke vs ArsenalJese Rodriguez
Huddersfield vs NewcastleAaron Mooy
Tottenham vs ChelseaMarcos Alonso
Man City vs EvertonWayne Rooney

The debuts and defenders theme continues from Gameweek 1, with four men from the back continuing to mix it with the more attacking players.

Pre-overhaul picks of Ahmed Hegazi and Aaron Mooy both came good at the budget-friendly end of the scale, while Richarlison, classified as a midfielder at 7.6m, is also an obvious one to watch. The Brazilian was top for touches in the opponents’ box, shots in the box and shots on target among midfielders this week – impressive stuff.

Honourable mentions go to Wayne Rooney and Hegazi as the only two players to earn the award in both fixtures so far – Rooney has been a MoTM magnet in the past having topped the charts with nine awards twice while at Manchester United.

Everton’s fixtures are initially very tricky indeed (che, TOT, mun), but then take a promising turn (BOU, BUR, bha), so Rooney can perhaps compete with the more expensive forwards if he continues to couple goals with the accolade.

Gameweek 2 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn three points or more in bonus.

members

Midfield dynamos Aaron Ramsey, Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante all earned five bonus to lead the way, while last season’s bonus king Jordan Henderson got off the mark with four points.

Christopher Schindler continues to delight his lowly 2.3% of owners. He’s now earned 20 points in his two matches through back-to-back clean sheets and six additional bonus.

Wayne Hennessey is the only goalkeeper to feature, after racking up an incredible 12 saves against Liverpool.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
ZahaCrystal Palace9.35.5%
KaneTottenham12.93.2%
LacazetteArsenal11.82.3%
WalkerMan City9.51.8%
SalahLiverpool9.41.5%

Wilfried Zaha’s injury makes him the top target out, while Kyle Walker getting himself sent off means he also features.

Mo Salah’s cameo at the weekend isn’t enough to save him from the chop for 1.5%, although he also features in the top transfers-in below.

Harry Kane features again. The most expensive player in the game can’t afford another blank or post-overhaul squads may begin to look elsewhere. Alexandre Lacazette was also shipped by 2.3%, possibly as part of a captain swap strategy as he played on the Saturday.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
HegaziWest Brom6.26.9%
SalahLiverpool9.44.1%
MaticMan United8.34%
LukakuMan United12.43.8%
MkhitaryanMan United103.1%

Ahmed Hegazi is the top scoring player in the game at the moment and no longer a differential pick as the Egyptian is now owned by 10% of players.

As mentioned above, Salah is being swapped in and out of squads at present, while the remaining three places are taken up by Man United’s in-form trio.

Currently, the average amount of transfers used across the whole game is 2.8. Bear in mind these numbers factor in those going for weekly/monthly prizes, but they should offer some comfort for those of you who have used a few prior to overhaul.

LukakuMan United12.421.9%
AgueroMan City12.89.3%

Romelu Lukaku was unsurprisingly the most captained player on Saturday, followed by Harry Kane on Sunday. A trio of Man City players made up the final three positions, probably due to them playing on the Monday night.

Watchlist

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership who I think could be good options for one week, prior to overhaul.

Three specific price brackets will be used to cater for our available budgets.

The players will evolve with fixtures and form to offer Fantasy managers a nudge in (hopefully) the right direction.

Notes

After a very solid Gameweek 1, there is nothing quite like a slap in the face to bring you back to reality, with the 50 points earned this week was less than half that of Gameweek 1.

Romelu Lukaku was my only captain to return any points after Harry Kane and Gabriel Jesus both blanked again. Thankfully, most other Fantasy managers also backed Kane and a Man City asset as skipper, so no real ground was lost there.

I used up one swap to take out Wilfried Zaha for John Stones, which also backfired.

I went with Stones because he recorded 96 passes in Gameweek 1 – and therefore three bonus points –  which was more than any other defender. My thoughts involved a clean sheet would net him 10 points, and if they did concede one, he’d still get five points. So, a worthwhile gamble.

I also thought he had MoTM potential, given that he was playing against his former club. As it turned out, Man City conceded, had a man sent off and then Stones was subbed early for City to chase the game and before he could register bonus.

All the best laid plans.

With just one more Gameweek before overhaul, I won’t look to make any more subs and will just hope to ride it out.

My biggest regret so far is not backing the cheap Huddersfield backline, who have now picked up two clean sheets out of two.  Those who have doubled, or even tripled, up in this area are the real winners of the pre-overhaul period so far.

Captain Plan

Sat 26th – Lukaku (LEI)
Sun 27th – Kane (BUR)

Who is considering Aguero as captain? I think he could score at least two vs BOU. I have Lukaku but I just don't fancy him against LEI. I would captain Kane but I don't have him.

for me (slight bias) Aguero is a more potent striker than Lukaku. It seems to me that because Lukaku is more of the focal point at United than Aguero, he's being overlooked (12.8% ownership compared to 50+%). I'm convinced Aguero will be up there with Lukaku at the end of the season.

          I've always thought that way.
He seems to have a bit more threat about him recently.
For 5 mil, he looks decent.

I don't usually like taking a hit for defender. But looking to start 4

    Defence is at present

    Foster (Elliot)
    Danilo Kolasinac Bertrand Ake (Long)

    Ake to
    A Jones (-4)
    B Dawson (-4)
    C Play Ake
D Bench Ake and play JWP or Carroll as 4th midfielder

Have the exact same dilemma too and am contemplating C. Think Trippier is most likely to keep a clean sheet so -4 could well turn into a zero. Depends if you think Trippier is long term for you i guess.

If i don't do it then ill likely do B. Have you thought about Jones for a -4?

      Keep me posted.

      Smalling Rojo Blind and Lindelof.

Bailly and Jones are banned for first game in Europe so I imagine Smalling and Lindelof will be held back for that. I think its Jones' spot to lose/get injured

Good pick in a solid defence.
            His spot to lose.

    Foster, Elliot
    Bertrand, Monreal, Ake, Lowton, Suttner
    KDB, Mkhi, JWP, RLC, Carroll
    Kane, Lukaku, Firmino

    1 FT, 1.5 itb

    A) JWP -> Richarlison
    B) RLC -> Richarlison
    C) something else

I know RLC is out for this week, but keeping him would be more of a long-term strategy, since Ward-Prowse will have to be transferred out soon regardless.

    Cheers.

    Help me please!

Already done Gabbi to Chicharito. Got one ft still to use.
I've got a few problems but nothing pressing, the main issue is KDB! Do I...

A - Keep the faith in KDB for another week
B - Swap him out for Pogba
C - Swap him out for Mkhy
D - Swap him out for Alli
E - Swap him out for Eriksen
F - Something else that I haven't thought of yet

I've got Kane & Lukaku already. Rest of my midfield is Ritchie, Willian, Mane

Why Aguero so low on captaincy poll? Ownership perhaps?
City generally do it better away, Aguero have shown he can be dangerous so far this season and is playing pretty good, City are hungry after their bad result vs Everton and an early goal vs Bournemouth would equal goalfest in my opinion.

    Thoughts?

I Agree. Rotation might be a factor, but Jesus didn't look very look vs Everton. Only two people on my minileague have aguero and only two have Kane. Rest Lukaku (we're about 20 people). I'm gonna take a "gamble" on Aguero this GW.

Lindelof is still very young and can't be thrown in at the deep end in a new league. Jose will work closely with him and he will look a changed man in the next couple of months. Jose did the same with Mikhi last season if you remember...

100m+ for some lad who got a couple of assists in the bundesliga last year

Transfer fees are through the roof but Ousmane is far more than a kid who just got a few assists in the Bulli. He's probably the best young player in the world - even ahead of Mbappe.

Well that’s what teams are selling their star players for because they know that teams are willing to pay that much money

  21. The Fed

Why is everybody selling De Bruyne? He is an offensive juggernaut playing for a team that likes to score goals. The two teams they have met so far parked the bus and Kevin was unlucky not to get anything from those. Last game when he basically placed the ball in front of goal for Aguero and all he had to do was just place it into the net, but didnt do it. People forget quickly that he was by far the best player in preseason and is Man City's best player.
Yes I know he played the deeplying playermaker last game, but that was because they were 10 men and someone had to drop a little deeper.

KdB will come good and meet value, but Id rather spend less on a Mkhi and or Pogba, who appear to be on par with KdB's production potential at a far better value, or using a premium mid spot on Alexis or Haz when fit. That said, he could easily rip it up v AFCB.

Yes Utd are playing really well, but they also met two awful defenses. We know Mourinho likes his 1-0 and 2-0, so I am not yet convinced on doubleing or even trippeling on Utd offensive assets.

Hello, I played my WC this week like a maniac.

Everything is sorted except for a DEF spot and 4.4m in cash. I could play the Holgate/Martina guessing game, but wouldn't want to use either for EVE's next 3 anyway. So I am searching for a potential starter to emerge.

Kevin Wimmer anyone? Spurs doing all they can to ship him out. WBA already gave it a go. (nice transfer history between those two :p) But links to Palace and Stoke as well, the latter looking a particularly perfect setting in a 3 CB setup to the left of ShawX and Zouma. I'd imagine he'd be a starter straight away if he went to Palace as well.

I can afford to go a couple weeks, including this one, with him benched and I have a feeling that two GWs from now, another 4.4m option emerges that is at least a starting option.

    Madness, brilliance, what say you?

Asked this earlier but no one knew....

When playing free hit do you keep your free transfer. The obvious answer is no like a wildcard. But any move in a wild card is a transfer whereas in a free hit it isn't. Also in rules it states that a wildcard can't carry a free transfer, there is nothing listed for a free hit. Finally, I could play free hit and still make a transfer before I did it, although would it stick or merely become part of the free hit?!! Anyone? Mark??

I'm going Aguero as Captain. Decided! He only has 12% ownership and although I think Lukaku will score vs LEI, I don't see United scoring more than 1 or 2 and those goals could come from elsewhere. At least if Lukaku does score, I will have half those points but the differential from Aguero could be significant. Who's with me?? 😀

Man U beat two average teams 4 nil and suddenly they are Real Madrid. 80 minutes they struggled against Swansea, don't get too carried away with United. City have the best squad and the best manager.

fair enough. You think that United will beat LEI comfortably? I think it will be harder game for United than City vs BOU. I just see so many people on here overlooking City because of the Everton game. Even with 10 men City dominated that game. I am slightly biased though being a City fan 😀
