The Manchester clubs are united in tormenting Fantasy Football managers.

In fairness, we should have expected Pep Guardiola’s City teamsheet to prove a source of frustration. It should come as no real surprise.

Even so, he seems determined to baffle us.

Having withdrawn Gabriel Jesus at half-time on Monday night following Kyle Walker’s dismissal, it appeared to signal that Guardiola’s affections were leaning towards Sergio Aguero for the lone striker role.

But just six days later, it was Aguero who made way as the City manager shuffled his formation and personnel in a bid to solve the frustration of Monday’s misses.

Aguero travelled to the Vitality Stadium today on the back of seven goals in his last seven away trips. He was backed by over 265,000 (5.7%) Fantasy Premier League managers with the captaincy.

Inevitably, Jesus took his opportunity to justify his selection. He served up his first goal of the season at Bournemouth having been sold by over 119,000 managers, triggering a 0.1 drop in price.

To make matters worse Aguero, along with today’s other omission from Monday’s teamsheet – John Stones – were both introduced from the bench by Guardiola. Auto-subs and Vice Captains were nullified.

City’s formation change – a move to 4-3-3 – also saw Kevin De Bruyne retreated alongside David Silva and Fernandinho as part of a central three.

That role muted his goal threat and again left him probing around the fringes of City’s 2-1 victory.

Statistically, the Belgian was still the most creative player in Gameweek 3 so far, providing four chances and laying on a big chance for Nicolas Otemendi who struck the post.

But those brief flashes will be lost on his Fantasy owners. They will continue to plot the exit of a 10.0 priced asset that has delivered three successive blanks. De Bruyne has already been sold more than any other player since the passing of today’s deadline.

As for United, while they engineered a 2-0 victory over a stubborn Leicester City at Old Trafford, Fantasy managers were left smarting by Romelu Lukaku’s penalty miss.

It remains to be seen if this dents Lukaku’s stock. There will be an ongoing debate on whether he will retain spot-kicks and whether Paul Pogba could be the beneficiary in waiting.

But for now, we can only consider what comes next in this current Gameweek.

Captained by over 1.7 million (37.3%) FPL managers, Lukaku’s zero point return sat alongside Aguero’s failing and a first blank from Pogba to set up Sunday’s performers.

Spurs’ Harry Kane now heads into a Wembley date with Burnley sporting over 741,000 armbands. Some 53% of his 1.3 million owners have trusted him as their skipper.

Confidence in Kane has been dented following his two single point returns, but now the scene is set for him to deliver the season’s first major twist.

A double-figure tally would cause a significant swing. Couple that with an impressive performance from Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and it would represent a turning point that could spark transfer hits and Wildcards aplenty.

While Saturday disappointed, it means that Sunday could be huge for all kinds of reasons.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I'm guessing it's the combo of two 1pt returns plus the August and Wembley factors.

I'm not put off though and have him as captain tomorrow, come on Harry!

This is very good actually. Even if he blanks, Kane will very likely do 100% better than 1st and 3rd most captained players.

To everyone who is planning on wildcarding this GW. Could you please make a transfer (any striker to McBurnie) before activating your WC? As you know transfers on WC don't affect price changes so I need people to buy McBurnie before they activate the WC. Whether you keep him or WC or not is completely up to you. McBurnie is a loyal and consistent performer and I need him to be at 4.5m for as long as possible. Thank you for your attention.

I agree. Shame if bilic gets the sack. I know started poor. But two seasons ago overachieved and raised expectations and then suffered last year with Payet wanting out and team struggling at new stadium.
De Boar got about 17 games at Inter before the sack if memory serves me correctly. Won't get that long at palace to turn around.

Undoubtedly we've played better with him on the pitch, but I suspect he'll be one of those forwards that benefits the team rather than being particularly prolific himself. though at 5.5 and as a third striker would give some handy cash to spend elsewhere

True. If I was Rafa, I'd start him over Gayle and Mitro, purely for the creativity. Gayle and Mitro gave me the impression as strikers who are a little too predictable for the PL. They would be nice supersubs though.
Again, Joselu is still under consideration.

Why not 12? Or was he on for 2 bonus at that point? He didn't seem to be contributing much...

would have been on for 2 bonus. Would have been winning goal as well

Could've been a sliding doors moment.

Score that and they might of lost 3-1 and we could've got sent off.

Unlikely I know just playing devils advocate

Once Alonso turns £7.1 he becomes almost impossible for people to bring in.

So, let me get this right. A player goes up in price to 7.1m which means he's almost impossible to buy?
      We're getting some crackers tonight.

        Stop the press.

This now means Eriksen, Pogba, Mkhi and the rest are impossible for us to get in...

They don't have greatest fixtures so until clean sheets are forthcoming I'm not keen on just goal hoping anyway.

We are stuck with him in our teams for eternity now.

I sold Lukaku ahead of this gameweek. With the premium on prices, I felt I needed 2 or 3 big hitters that are explosive. If you play your WC this week, get in or keep your absolute musts and spread your funds around the remaining spots ... just don't compromise on the players you feel safe captaining.

I've gone with Kane, Sanchez and Mané. Which gives:

    GW3 Kane v BUR
    GW4 Sanchez v BOU
    GW5 Kane v SWA
    GW6 Sanchez v WBA
    etc.

      Will Lacazette screw over Sanchez???

If anything, I think he'll create more space for Sanchez. He's far more mobile than Giroud and should stretch defences allowing Sanchez freedom to come inside.

We'll get an idea tomorrow if they click from the off.

Long (Burnley) to Mbemba for a FT and bank the £0.6m price rise over the next two weeks?

How accurate is fplstatistics? KDB showing -100.6 and although I definitely want rid of him, i wouldn't mind watching Eriksen and Mane tomorrow just to be sure that Mkhi really is who I want in...

If you want mkhi then get it now. Why wait?

Because if Mane or Eriksen explode they are also decent options and I'm fickle. Already have lukaku and Alli, so Mane could turn my head

If you look it that way, eriksen IMO is the best between them, regardless of tomorrow's result.
But i have mkhi & eriksen & probably they'll be my season keeper 🙂

Wait. You can afford nearly any mid regardless of if he drops 0.1m.

      Not 100% accurate.

They usually claim around 97%-98% accuracy but with a new season and wildcards activated it's hard to tell very well at this moment really.
