The Manchester clubs are united in tormenting Fantasy Football managers.

In fairness, we should have expected Pep Guardiola’s City teamsheet to prove a source of frustration. It should come as no real surprise.

Even so, he seems determined to baffle us.

Having withdrawn Gabriel Jesus at half-time on Monday night following Kyle Walker’s dismissal, it appeared to signal that Guardiola’s affections were leaning towards Sergio Aguero for the lone striker role.

But just six days later, it was Aguero who made way as the City manager shuffled his formation and personnel in a bid to solve the frustration of Monday’s misses.

Aguero travelled to the Vitality Stadium today on the back of seven goals in his last seven away trips. He was backed by over 265,000 (5.7%) Fantasy Premier League managers with the captaincy.

Inevitably, Jesus took his opportunity to justify his selection. He served up his first goal of the season at Bournemouth having been sold by over 119,000 managers, triggering a 0.1 drop in price.

To make matters worse Aguero, along with today’s other omission from Monday’s teamsheet – John Stones – were both introduced from the bench by Guardiola. Auto-subs and Vice Captains were nullified.

City’s formation change – a move to 4-3-3 – also saw Kevin De Bruyne retreated alongside David Silva and Fernandinho as part of a central three.

That role muted his goal threat and again left him probing around the fringes of City’s 2-1 victory.

Statistically, the Belgian was still the most creative player in Gameweek 3 so far, providing four chances and laying on a big chance for Nicolas Otemendi who struck the post.

But those brief flashes will be lost on his Fantasy owners. They will continue to plot the exit of a 10.0 priced asset that has delivered three successive blanks. De Bruyne has already been sold more than any other player since the passing of today’s deadline.

As for United, while they engineered a 2-0 victory over a stubborn Leicester City at Old Trafford, Fantasy managers were left smarting by Romelu Lukaku’s penalty miss.

It remains to be seen if this dents Lukaku’s stock. There will be an ongoing debate on whether he will retain spot-kicks and whether Paul Pogba could be the beneficiary in waiting.

But for now, we can only consider what comes next in this current Gameweek.

Captained by over 1.7 million (37.3%) FPL managers, Lukaku’s zero point return sat alongside Aguero’s failing and a first blank from Pogba to set up Sunday’s performers.

Spurs’ Harry Kane now heads into a Wembley date with Burnley sporting over 741,000 armbands. Some 53% of his 1.3 million owners have trusted him as their skipper.

Confidence in Kane has been dented following his two single point returns, but now the scene is set for him to deliver the season’s first major twist.

A double-figure tally would cause a significant swing. Couple that with an impressive performance from Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and it would represent a turning point that could spark transfer hits and Wildcards aplenty.

While Saturday disappointed, it means that Sunday could be huge for all kinds of reasons.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Since Jones is 5.1 now, for those looking to get a utd defender in, is blind a better choice than Jones? 0.1 less and equally risk of rotation and in on comer duties too?

Anyone else tired of the pre lineup stress caused by owning expensive City players who are in Pep's rotation roulette? I lucked out with Jesus this week but it could easily have been him sulking on the bench instead of Kun. What are you going to do with your City assets? I think I'm done with them.

Their premium price tag makes it tricky!

Not sure if I want to pay 10+ at this stage for someone:

          - Whom I wont captain
          - Rotation threat
          - Too many goal scorer/assister in that team
          - Not focal point of attack

Even if they score 2-3 goals, chances are high that we might just get an assist out of that game

Will probably pick them in 2nd half of the season

I went KDB to Alli. I think Alli without CL is factor and he is differential in my ML (all on Eriksen). But I think both will score nice...

Alli is some differential, forgot he's suspended in the CL. Son back in the mix as well. So many safer options than City players.

It's a risk I accepted thinking City would batter teams by 3 or 4 goals with Jesus contributing so much it would not matter much if he did get dropped.

Luckily for us Aguero could get banned.

      Both pretty average.
Defensively they did alright, baring some woeful keeping from Forster. Worried about how they will fare against much stronger opposition, Huddersfield did quite well.
Tadic was quite anonymous tbh. Biggest threat was probably Redmond, who missed two good opportunities.

There are you few under threat but the team is ok.
I would just change gradually starting with who think is most likely to lose their place.

no need to WC imo.youve a team full of players who are starting and have delivered or have a chance to. the only players who I think you should monitor to transfer are kdb, rlc and possibly Danilo as a rotation risk

Wait, KDB already dropped. your 8.1(?) might be better spent away from Pep's city?

Silva seem solid and seem nailed on. Need city cover as they love scoring goals.

Loves okay, but they don't look like enacting too well on that part yet. But yes Silva's a good option.

So tempted to WC.. But then team looks OK, price changes make me crazy.

    Foster (Elliott)
Kolasinac - Jones - Danilo (Zanka, Long)
Mane - Alli - Willian - Pogba (Carroll)
    Lukaku - Chicharito - Firmino

    Danilo won't play I know.

What do people think of Josh King as a third forward to go with Kane and Lukaku? He looked really good yesterday and is nailed on. I've had Mounie since week one and will probably give him one more week but am really struggling with replacements.

Let the air clear around the aurier deal and that would be perfect. Even I'm waiting on that news.

I probably wouldn't do a hit as there are no team that strikes me of having a clean sheet nailed on in week 4. I'm keeping Dann for Burnley away then selling.
