The Manchester clubs are united in tormenting Fantasy Football managers.

In fairness, we should have expected Pep Guardiola’s City teamsheet to prove a source of frustration. It should come as no real surprise.

Even so, he seems determined to baffle us.

Having withdrawn Gabriel Jesus at half-time on Monday night following Kyle Walker’s dismissal, it appeared to signal that Guardiola’s affections were leaning towards Sergio Aguero for the lone striker role.

But just six days later, it was Aguero who made way as the City manager shuffled his formation and personnel in a bid to solve the frustration of Monday’s misses.

Aguero travelled to the Vitality Stadium today on the back of seven goals in his last seven away trips. He was backed by over 265,000 (5.7%) Fantasy Premier League managers with the captaincy.

Inevitably, Jesus took his opportunity to justify his selection. He served up his first goal of the season at Bournemouth having been sold by over 119,000 managers, triggering a 0.1 drop in price.

To make matters worse Aguero, along with today’s other omission from Monday’s teamsheet – John Stones – were both introduced from the bench by Guardiola. Auto-subs and Vice Captains were nullified.

City’s formation change – a move to 4-3-3 – also saw Kevin De Bruyne retreated alongside David Silva and Fernandinho as part of a central three.

That role muted his goal threat and again left him probing around the fringes of City’s 2-1 victory.

Statistically, the Belgian was still the most creative player in Gameweek 3 so far, providing four chances and laying on a big chance for Nicolas Otemendi who struck the post.

But those brief flashes will be lost on his Fantasy owners. They will continue to plot the exit of a 10.0 priced asset that has delivered three successive blanks. De Bruyne has already been sold more than any other player since the passing of today’s deadline.

As for United, while they engineered a 2-0 victory over a stubborn Leicester City at Old Trafford, Fantasy managers were left smarting by Romelu Lukaku’s penalty miss.

It remains to be seen if this dents Lukaku’s stock. There will be an ongoing debate on whether he will retain spot-kicks and whether Paul Pogba could be the beneficiary in waiting.

But for now, we can only consider what comes next in this current Gameweek.

Captained by over 1.7 million (37.3%) FPL managers, Lukaku’s zero point return sat alongside Aguero’s failing and a first blank from Pogba to set up Sunday’s performers.

Spurs’ Harry Kane now heads into a Wembley date with Burnley sporting over 741,000 armbands. Some 53% of his 1.3 million owners have trusted him as their skipper.

Confidence in Kane has been dented following his two single point returns, but now the scene is set for him to deliver the season’s first major twist.

A double-figure tally would cause a significant swing. Couple that with an impressive performance from Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and it would represent a turning point that could spark transfer hits and Wildcards aplenty.

While Saturday disappointed, it means that Sunday could be huge for all kinds of reasons.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Had my best start so far, on 32 with 5 to go and Kane(c). GW rank of 200k, up to 435k overall. Usually takes me weeks to get inside the 1m mark!! 🙂

A Harry brace today and I'll be well set!

Is Ben Davies still worth considering? Or do we think Rose will be back soon?

Interesting. My dilemma was Clark (v swa) or Carroll (v NEW). I plumped for Carroll and am planning to play 3-5-2 next GW (first time this season - have played 4-4-2 all other weeks).

I would go Firmino, but consider if another player should be dropped for Carroll.

Consider cutting Stones, KDB Atsu Gab and Dann. You will free up a lot of budget. Get one stud defender like Walker or Valencia and a 5 to 5.5 attacking defender like Davies or Trippier==preferably with a good fixture run==Ericson is must have due to consistency. Pay attention to Everton. They are good and starting in game week 6, they have a remarkably great run of 12 to 16 fixtures. So save a couple of transfers for 2 or 3 Ev players. I kinda like the young forward that plays along side Rooney as a cheap third Fwd. Can't remember his name but it is hyphonated.

Should I be wildcarding guys? I've lost value on KDB but caught a few rises elsewhere:

    Foster (Myhill)

    Bertrand, Alonso, Suttner (Ake, Long)

    KDB, Salah, Carroll, Mooy (JWP)

    Kane, Lukaku, Chica

KDB to Eriksen. JWP to full time starter of your choice. I would rather have Mane than Salah or maybe Miki

On FPL draft does it tell you what players have left managers teams?

Moved KDB to Eriksen yesterday. Don't have any moves for international break but I like how my team looks going forward.

Playing 1st time, made couple stupid mistakes (not talking about being results oriented like KDB instead of Eriksen and so on). Had to take a hit to move Walker to Alonso after red card.

    Foster
    Alonso Davies Bertrand
    Eriksen Pogba Phillips Atsu
    Kane Lukaku Chicarito

    Elliot Yoshida Carroll 4.0

Likely going to WC after 2nd international break.

Thank you, I am! Really happy I found this place early in the season. Good advice and info. Makes all the planning so much easier.

Today's games really have an impact on my WC

    1) Alonso watch = can Chelsea keep a CS? If not I'm not sure on Alonso at 7m

    2) Sanchez vs Mané. I want one, I will let them battle it out today

    3) Eriksen still the man to get over Alli

      1) He is.
      2) For Pool cover, I'm thinking Firmino so I can get Sanchez in.
      3) I went Eriksen as well. In the long run I doubt there is going to be a huge difference. Not sure Alli can repeat his goals count from last year though.

    What next for this lot?

    Begovic, Elliot.
    Kolasinac, Jones, Yoshida, Mee, Dummett..
    Willian, Eriksen, Ramsey, Carroll, JWP.
    Kane, Lukaku, Firmino.

    1ft, 0.4m.

Looks very good, wouldn't change a thing. Maybe find a way to upgrade Willian for Pogba/Mkhi. I'd downgrade Kola (prefer having Ramsey). Keep an eye on Yoshida. He played this week but not sure if he'll keep his spot after that new signing.

I guess it depends if you want Sanchez and/or Hazard.

Need Kane(c) and Eriksen to score 26 points or more to make my transfers worthwhile....

I swapped KDB/Jesus and Bertrand to Kane/Eriksen and Britos for an 8 point hit-thought I was guaranteed 6 from Britos!....

Watford did get a clean sheet though.

Absolutely horror tackle by Britos, nearly brought him in myself 🙁 Kane for the win, hopefully starting today 🙂
