Both Liverpool and Stoke City look set to go into Gameweek 6 with a host of defensive concerns.

Meanwhile, Swansea City boss Paul Clement is mulling over a first start for Wilfried Bony for the visit of Watford to the Liberty Stadium.

Dejan Lovren is a major doubt for Liverpool’s trip to Leicester with a back problem, while Joel Matip and Emre Can are also nursing knocks, though the latter was pictured in training on Thursday. Sadio Mane serves the final fixture of his three-match suspension in the visit to the King Power. Jurgen Klopp may now be forced to field a makshift backline, with Joe Gomez retained in a central role following his EFL Cup outing and Trent Alexander-Arnold returning at right-back.

Earlier this morning, Stoke manager Mark Hughes conceded that he has a number of problems in defence ahead of the home meeting against Chelsea. Geoff Cameron and Ryan Shawcross are definitely out due to injury, Kurt Zouma is ineligible to face his parent club, while Kevin Wimmer is rated as “touch and go” after sustaining a hamstring injury. Hughes could now look to both Erik Pieters and Glen Johnson as stand-in centre-backs should he retain a three-man defence.

Swansea City head coach Paul Clement has revealed that Wilfried Bony is in contention to make his first league start of the season against Watford.

But Hornets defenders Sebastian Prodl and Younes Kaboul remain sidelined for the Liberty Stadium visit and Miguel Britos is still suspended.

Pedro Obiang and James Collins will both miss the home clash with Spurs, but Mark Noble is available again. Manuel Lanzini is back in training, but this weekend is too early for the Argentine.

Jonathan Walters is expected to miss Burnley’s home meeting with Huddersfield Town due to a knee problem.

And the Terriers will be without midfielder Danny Williams for the Turf Moor encounter due to a broken bone in his foot. Summer signing Steve Mounie misses out once again due to a heel problem, with Laurent Depoitre expected to shrug off a muscle problem to deputise up front.

Tyrone Mings has been ruled out for around two months with a back injury, but Junior Stanislas returns to contention as Bournemouth make their way to Everton.

Mauricio Pellegrino will decide today what part Virgil van Dijk will play in the home meeting with Manchester United. Matt Targett (ankle) looks set to miss out, though Charlie Austin is fit and available to challenge Shane Long for a start up front.

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Izzy Brown has returned to training this week following a hamstring injury and could be named in the squad for the home clash against Newcastle United.

Mesut Ozil looks to have a good chance of being fit for Monday night’s home fixture against West Bromwich Albion following a knee problem, but Calum Chambers and Danny Welbeck are both ruled out until after the international break.

Are people really complaining about Jesus' attacking returns every 80 mins this season and, every 60 last?

Everyone was aware that Aguero was more explosive given the minutes but, Jesus had high returns last season and was the apparent 'golden child/favourite'.

If Aguero keeps exploding then I will have to take note but returns every 80 mins and, 4 G in the last 201 league minutes is captain worthy right (who wouldn't take 1 G or A per game)?

Nobody is complaining about his returns, but at 1.1 price difference, Aguero represents better value - particularly considering he's more Captainworthy

Not sure I agree - People wouldn't bandwagon to Aguero if they were satisfied with Jesus?

Why is he more captain worthy? I'm not seeing the stats.

Its the minutes - a 60 minute player is less captainworthy than a 90 minute player. Also, Aguero seems to have found some of his old form - I may be wrong - but he's looking like the Aguero of old rather than an old Aguero

Jesus - Minutes been limited, played mid week, lots of games in short period coming up ... done well so far but can't score if not on the pitch - Kane & Lukaku and Morata and Vardy etc all 85 minute players

            Absolutely agree!

I get the feeling Poch knows they need to start competing outside coming top 4 and, they've relied on Harry's goals for years! Minute management has to play a part

Doubt it, different style and game - cups etc for him.

If Spurs are chasing a game I can see a defensive mid being replaced by Llorente

I've got Kane but I don't like captaining out of form players (especially Tottenham ones!). I do have a free transfer but just can't bring myself to chase last week's Aguero hat-trick. He seems to get most of his goals away from home anyway. Hope that dries up next week too!

Jesus has played in all 5 games, scoring 29 points in 323 minutes.
But he isn't suddenly going to increase his average minutes per game from 64.6 to 90, so it is far more realistic to look at his points or attacking returns per game rather than at his points or attacking returns per 90 minutes or his minutes per point or attacking return.

Aguero has also played in all 5 games (one of which he started on the bench), scoring 41 points in 376 minutes.
This is 41% better than Jesus, which is a big difference.
Jesus is currently only the sixth highest points scoring forward this season, and more expensive than Vardy, Morata and Firmino.

On a WC, good to go?

    Elliot / Foster

Jones Monreal Naughton / Morgan Mbemba

Mkhi Salah Silva Ritchie / Carroll

    Aguero Lukaku Firmino

    £0.4m ITB

Monreal as a starter is the reason he is in. I could swap him for Bavies or Trippier if enough think that's a better deal. Bavies missing a game puts me off despite returns.

    1. Ady87
      • 12 Years
      8 years, 3 months ago

Also Ritchie > Atsu (who I had before WC) gives me £1.3 ITB which I could use to bulk up two defenders or do Salah > Eriksen but see no need to drop Salah.

It depends on whether you need a reliable starter. I'd be edging towards Baines for several reasons:

      1) He's probably on penalties
      2) He's likely to play every game
      3) He's not injury prone
      4) Everton are hitting a good set of fixtures.

It entirely depends on how big your draft league is and what the potential replacements are.

      1) I'd say keep because if you have other great players that can keep him on the bench then you don't need him.

      2) If you have crap players coming off the bench for him - it means there are no decent players in the market - therefore you should definitely keep him.

      Both scenarios say keep

Downgrade Hart and use the money to upgrade somewhere else.

To be honest for many of us our stories are like Harry Kane we start the FPL season slow and keep getting better Ik its cause of the casuals but still just imagine If we do get off to a flying start what can be achieved!

Thoughts on this WC team for a friend who's a casual? They want to keep the 3 up top, but the midfield looks shocking

    Fabianski Elliot
    Otamendi Kolasinac Jones Naughton Mbemba
    Silva Ramsey Ritchie Gross Carroll/Chalobah/RLC
    Morata Kane Lukaku

Anyone worried about Tammy A's starting potential? The comments that Bony could get a start have made me shy away from bringing him in.

"As it stands, of the senior centre-halves that I've got, I've only got one." Mark Hughes. What do you think? Irs Chelsea a banker tommorow? Morata captain?
