Quite simply, we can’t have them all.

On a day that began with us fixated on the fortunes of Sergio Aguero, it was perhaps fitting that almost every other big striker produced their own bid to steal his thunder.

Aguero was a slow starter but eventually found his gear to take his turn in Manchester City’s mauling of Crystal Palace.

A goal and an assist were his reward, with two bonus points ensuring that the Argentine avoided being dwarfed by the double-figure blitz from Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane from midfield.

Again, there was evidence that Pep Guardiola’s attacking riches border on the ridiculous. Just ask Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian sat unused on the bench, forcing his 678,000 owners – not least the 183,000 who acquired him with Palace in mind – to choke on a bitter pill.

Pep’s Jesus decision was perhaps signposted by 90 minutes in midweek. But it’s no less confusing for us Fantasy managers, who must now wonder if Guardiola will toy with ongoing rotation of his strikers, with Sterling and Sane building compelling claims for regular starts.

Chelsea in Gameweek 6 will tell us more, although it’s City’s meeting with a beleaguered Stoke City defence that we really care about now.

We can, of course, opt out completely. It’s not as if our options are limited.

Harry Kane’s brace at the London Stadium offered a reminder that he will not surrender the Golden Boot, or his place in squads.

Sold by 196,000, with 141,000 of those swapping to Aguero, the Spurs striker set the bar for the City man with a 13-point return in the early kick-off.

Kane remains a force of nature, with the talent to circumvent Spurs’ woes on the Wembley turf – he now has 11 goals from his last five away matches.

Romelu Lukaku wasn’t to be put in the corner. He picked off his sixth goal in as many Gameweeks, as Manchester United endured a hard-fought victory at St Mary’s.

But Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata won today’s battle.

He ruthlessly exploited an ailing Stoke City defence to punish the 148,000 who had disposed of his services amid the clamour for Aguero.

Chelsea and Morata won’t play against a centre-back pairing of Darren Fletcher and Glen Johnson every week, but the Spaniard’s haul was nonetheless telling.

It offered a reminder that this is a season awash with goal scoring riches.

Our midfield firepower may have stalled – thanks in no small part to the absence of Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez. But that’s allowed the strikers to roll back the years and reinstate themselves as the critical position in our squad.

This could have a marked impact on our squad construction, particularly for those still with Wildcards to play. Funds in midfield will surely be scrutinised, monies in defence squeezed.

This could be a season where the big-hitting forwards take turns to dominate. Restricting ourselves to just two may no longer cut it.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Fellow Big 3 owners, I'm probably stating the obvious but Lukaku to Morata after next week looks real juicy.

GW7: Kane (hud), Lukaku (CPL), Kun (che)
GW8: Kane (BOU), Morata (cpl), Kun (STO)
GW9: Kane (LIV), Morata (WAT), Kun (BUR)
GW10: Kane (mun), Morata (bou), Kun (wba)

Dropping Lukaku will be hard, especially if he bangs in a few more next week but it looks to be a good move. Lot of football to be played before then mind you!

It's on the cards for sure, I'll be looking to save into next week so I can reassess the situation afterwards.

Yeah, my team's had a poor start but after getting Kun in, it doesn't look too shabby so I'll be saving my transfer too. I think there'll need to be a few injuries or Kaku getting 4 goals next week for me to change my mind though.

          Yeah same.

Alternatively, I'll see if Hazard is performing finally so I can keep the big 3 and have a Chelsea heavy hitter at the same time.

That thought did come across my mind but my team is barebones as it is to afford the front three. The jump from Mkhi to Haz isn't one I can fund I think.

      I'm with Kun Mor Kak.
Figure if I have 3 of 4 then its all about picking right captain (didnt this week) and having decentish bench (I do) in case of rotations.

Kane Kun will be story of the season methinks but Mor Kak will be the base to build on for me.

Agree. Weird season where there's not many options below 7m for mids or fwds so you really have to spend big. I agree that Kane and Kun will be main stays (as long as Pep doesn't rotate too much)

          Im knuckling down this season.
443 or 523 seems to offer best return imo.
          Its all about attack.

When I do downgrade Bavies it'll be for wiggle room to draft Kane in for City.

Morata and Kaku will stay barring injury.

yeah I want to switch to a 433 from the 343 I've had from the start of the season.

Really, I kinda have a 333 right now since I have RLC and Carroll to afford the big 3. Need to upgrade my 4.0m bench fodder Long asap

Theres value. Kane kicks it though. Think Kun or Jesus rot can be offset by decent sub for 1m more.

Today for instance, Jesus gone and Loftus-Cheek plays as a 10, Tom Davies has a belter, Brady 3pts.... theres options.

As it stands I've lost 13 points by doing Eriksen & Chicarito - > Atsu & Aguero -4

Firstly, I would have played Jones (9 points) (would have played him over Chicarito)

    I would have captained Kane

I obviously would have had Eriksen

    I wouldn't have taken a hit

I can add this to the long list of bad decisions/bad luck. Imagine how bad it would have been if Aguero hadn't got 11 points!

Anyone like Kiko Femenia for 4.5m slot?

      - 3 clean sheets
      - 6 bonus points!
      - He's quick, keen and very attacking
      - Has 1 assist, likely to get more
      - Seems nailed having come straight back into starting XI after injury

His upcoming fixtures aren't great but at 4.5m you get and forget. Kinda wish I'd got him in instead of Naughton.

Firmino tougher fixtures, rotation risk and random points between all the good Liv-players. Vardy will be the focal point when Leicester do something and excellent fixtures. So Vardy will get much more points yeah. But can he keep up with Morata, that Im not sure about...

So frustrated with Firmino, that striker spot is so valuable and he has been absolutely woeful the past two weeks. Scored 86 which I am delighted about seeing as I was ranked 3M heading in to this week but that and playing Fab over Elliot is frustrating. Cant even enjoy a week like this properly when you are so low down in rank.

Sometimes having a balanced team is overrated.

Often a best-in-position player + £4.5m def/mid will outscore two mid price players, particularly this season with very few underpriced breakthrough stars.

I think the smart money will be on Kane-Kaku-Kun-Haz 100%. Hazard should prove every bit as good if not better than Morata, and crucially does not take up a precious fwd slot.

      b) Sell Firmino and silva for abraham and sanchez (ignore morata)
      c) Sell firmino and Davies for morata and 4.7def
      d) Stick with the team

      WC this?

      Foster (Elliot)
      Cedric, Davies, Kolasinac (Mariappa, Long)
      Ritchie, Mkhi, Ramsey, Salah (Carroll)
      Kane, Lukaku, Chicharito

      2 FT, 1.1 ITB

I wouldn't WC. I'd see how Ramsey gets on tomorrow though, and consider selling if he blanks again. I'd also try and beef up your defence - even upgrading one of Long or Mariappa to a £4.5 would help.

(RP from earlier) Im seriously tinkering like crazy. I need some advice - the more the marrier. Firmino is dropping before deadline and Morata will most likely rise. What to do?

      A) Firminho + Miki --> Morata + Jese/chopper/shaqiri/other 6.8 mid (-4) to catch price changes even though the former pair will probably outscore the latter pair especially given the hit.

      B) Do the transfer on two ft after gw7 and loose 0.2 TV (0.1 if Miki against All odds should rise as well)

      C) Firminho --> Vardy

      D) Do nothing

      E) Burst into panic

As you can see I dont like Liverpool nor Uniteds fixtures from gw8 and onwards.. Really want Morata for gw8 . Bandwagon? Might be, but Chelseas fixtures are turning sweet

13% have Xhaka in their teams. And more than 20% have Kante. That's more than 1 million FPL players. Crazy stats...

      Current front 8 of:
      Alli, Salah, Choupo, Brady, Carroll
      Lukaku, Morata, Firmino

      Should I:
      a) Save FT
      b) Firmino > Chicharito
      i) bank the extra money for a rainy day
ii) Salah, Chuopo > Coutinho, David Silva (over the next few weeks)
      c) Firmino > Vardy

      Lossl / Elliot
      Alonso / Davies / Jones / Lowton / Mbemba
      Salah / Silva / Mkhi / Richarlison / Chalobah
      Kane / Lukaku / Joselu

Only 1 transfer in my sights next week for me, and I swear it's not influenced by today's unlucky / lucky events (look through my posts πŸ˜‰ )

      Alonso > McGuire

Sick of owning an inflexible, undroppable 7m def, McGuire offers great attacking potential and great next 5 fixtures.

I honestly spent a good few moments trying to work out who McGuire was.

I'd want Chelsea defence for their upcoming fixtures though.

Is anyone else having an absolute nightmare so far? I haven't finished outside the top 20k in the past 7 seasons but sitting at 2.2m with my wildcard blown. Things are looking onimous.

      Is there Hope? πŸ˜†

It's still early mate. This season has felt a bit more difficult to call though, perhaps too many choices - particularly in the strikers dep.

        Rival: 63 + Elliott

I hope my 3 extra lads play 60 min and don't pick a yellow..!!!

I can't believe going Kane, Kun and Kaku, and spreading my defence thin with only one "premium" 5m defender on WC actually worked out.

I have both Ritchie and Choupo. I think Choupo even better but Ritchie solid pick, on pens and freekicks.
