Quite simply, we can’t have them all.

On a day that began with us fixated on the fortunes of Sergio Aguero, it was perhaps fitting that almost every other big striker produced their own bid to steal his thunder.

Aguero was a slow starter but eventually found his gear to take his turn in Manchester City’s mauling of Crystal Palace.

A goal and an assist were his reward, with two bonus points ensuring that the Argentine avoided being dwarfed by the double-figure blitz from Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane from midfield.

Again, there was evidence that Pep Guardiola’s attacking riches border on the ridiculous. Just ask Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian sat unused on the bench, forcing his 678,000 owners – not least the 183,000 who acquired him with Palace in mind – to choke on a bitter pill.

Pep’s Jesus decision was perhaps signposted by 90 minutes in midweek. But it’s no less confusing for us Fantasy managers, who must now wonder if Guardiola will toy with ongoing rotation of his strikers, with Sterling and Sane building compelling claims for regular starts.

Chelsea in Gameweek 6 will tell us more, although it’s City’s meeting with a beleaguered Stoke City defence that we really care about now.

We can, of course, opt out completely. It’s not as if our options are limited.

Harry Kane’s brace at the London Stadium offered a reminder that he will not surrender the Golden Boot, or his place in squads.

Sold by 196,000, with 141,000 of those swapping to Aguero, the Spurs striker set the bar for the City man with a 13-point return in the early kick-off.

Kane remains a force of nature, with the talent to circumvent Spurs’ woes on the Wembley turf – he now has 11 goals from his last five away matches.

Romelu Lukaku wasn’t to be put in the corner. He picked off his sixth goal in as many Gameweeks, as Manchester United endured a hard-fought victory at St Mary’s.

But Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata won today’s battle.

He ruthlessly exploited an ailing Stoke City defence to punish the 148,000 who had disposed of his services amid the clamour for Aguero.

Chelsea and Morata won’t play against a centre-back pairing of Darren Fletcher and Glen Johnson every week, but the Spaniard’s haul was nonetheless telling.

It offered a reminder that this is a season awash with goal scoring riches.

Our midfield firepower may have stalled – thanks in no small part to the absence of Eden Hazard and Alexis Sanchez. But that’s allowed the strikers to roll back the years and reinstate themselves as the critical position in our squad.

This could have a marked impact on our squad construction, particularly for those still with Wildcards to play. Funds in midfield will surely be scrutinised, monies in defence squeezed.

This could be a season where the big-hitting forwards take turns to dominate. Restricting ourselves to just two may no longer cut it.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Got 1.2m to upgrade one of Mooy, Redmond or Carroll, Any ideas?

Redmond to a 7.6 is probably looking favourite right now - but who to buy?

Not wholly convinced there's anyone in that price range better than the 5.5-6s (like Richarlison, Ritchie and Choupo-Moting), but having said all that I do have Ramsey in my team.

Ritchie probably, or Ramsey. See how both do over the next two days. Atsu a potential too, and could actually free up funds.

Ramsey is a hot and cold I'd look for consistency in a 5.5 - 6 range midfielder. Theres good options Ritchie and Atsu at Newcastle. Gross at Brighton (although two tough fixtures on the horizon) Richarlison maybe, Brady another to consider I'd maybe wait, watch the Newcastle match then decide

I know it's a long season but in you're opinion which 3 forwards are the best to have?? Money aside. It us possible to squeeze every combo in but will obviously mean some cheap punts elsewhere.

    Salah / Mkhi / Ritchie / Mooy
    Kane / Lukaku / Morata

    Hart / Cedric / Carroll / Long

    Elliot Foster
    Alonso Mendy Davies Kolasinac Hunemeier
    Eriksen Rithcie Choupo Carroll Chalobah
    Kane Lukaku Firmino
    2ft. 0.0 itb.
Think I really wanna get Morata after Man City game has gone by.
Not sure I wanna lose Alonso but Mendy might go. I might give Firmino Newcastle game but no longer(maybe get rid now)

Any idea of a transfer I could spend while I prepare for getting Morata?
Mendy to 4.5? And Morata next week. Or keep defenders and just go with Vardy as 3rd strike?

Has the gap between the top teams and the rest widened?
It becoming almost as bad as the scottish league.

Every week we say Chelsea wont play a side as bad as Stoke
City wont play a side as weak as Palace

But they do, some of these sides have been a disgrace. Seems to me the gap is growing really wide and there will be plenty more hammerings in store dished out by the top Six

    1. TheTwelfthMan
      • 8 Years

The gap between the top 6 and the rest was massive from last season. Then there's the chasm between with Everton and Southampton, then the rest of the lot.

It's not as bad as Scottish league though, there's only one team that plays in that league. There's 6 here.

In my opinion the first half was a joke and an insult to the game of football. Both team couldn't pass the ball at all. Wasn't impressed at all by the goals since they all come from stupid mistakes. Don't see Spurs anywhere near the top 4 this year, West Ham will compete against Brighton to avoid relegation.

Mourinho likes to rotate his CB pairings. He's said that he wants to give Lindelof a longer run in the CL because that's easier to adapt to than the PL. Likely Smalling gets his game time there too. Till now it has been Bailly-Jones in the PL and Smalling-Lindelof in the Carabao/CL, likely to continue until further rounds.

There has been only one CL game and Lindelof Smalling played only because Bailly Jones were both unavailable.. this is a tough CL away tie and i would be astonished if Mourinho took any risks at all and Lindelof in particular is a risk right now.. it will be a first choice CB partnership in Moscow imo..

Selling a player with HUD (A) and BOU (H) in the next 2, that's silly.

Not done a report on my youth team for a while (U18'S)...so here we go from the reality of grass roots footy...and at a high standard...

Tomorrow's match has been called off due to our opposition not being able to get a team together.

Just a point worth mentioning...The manager's son has said he won't play anymore because he wants to play for his college in the evenings on astro instead of getting up all winter at 9.00am to play In the freezing cold on a Sunday morning...sheesh...but it's the reality of youth football in this country...

Also...Our first game of the season (last week) was called off due to a flooded pitch (September in Lancashire...sheesh again) whilst an astro pitch stood empty a few yards away awaiting approval by the FA for a princely sum of 2k...(who pays that?)

Should anybody from the FA who visit this site wish to discuss why we don't produce enough good English players at youth level feel free to contact me....IT'S BECAUSE WE DON'T ACTUALLY PLAY MUCH FOOTBALL....!!!

There are plenty of professional English players? I don't understand the link between your youth team's pitch and professional player production.

When my local park was flooded, I didn't complain to Plymouth Argyle and demand to use Home Park.

That guy is lazy and doesn't want to play, so what? If he doesn't want to play, you can't force him to play- participation is at an all time high at the moment, find another and more professional league.

Prob Kun and Mikhi. More goals for Kun imo and that's more bonus and better captain material.

I'm definitely happy with Ward and Aguero in for free. Mee for 4.4 would have been nice though. Ward seems to horde the bonus so I'm happy overall.

Been hiding from all things FPL related due to the frustration but I owned Alonso and Aurier (since he became available due to the Trippier 'injury'). Was .3 short of getting Sane in for Antonio. Sometimes the extra hit can be worth it.

Anyone make some good moves that paid off?

My guess is whatever you go with, you will have to keep rotating with the season, players like Hazard/Sanchez will come into the picture soon'ish as well.
