Injuries

Reports surfacing this morning from Argentina have stated that Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero has been involved in a car accident and will face up to three months on the sidelines.

City have since confirmed the accident and have issued a statement indicating that the player is due back at the club for assessment prior to the weekend meeting with Chelsea. No details of his confirmed injuries are offered up at this stage, although a press conference today will surely shed light on the situation.

Aguero is said to have suffered a fractured rib having been a passenger in a taxi en route to the airport in Amsterdam when the vehicle lost control and struck a column on the side of the road.

Sources in Argentina have already said that the striker could miss six to eight weeks due to the injury, which would obviously rule him out of the Gameweek 7 clash and Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers to follow.

Notably, Independiente, Aguero’s former club, wished the striker a “speedy recovery” on social media.

The news will come as a major shock and blow to Manchester City who only yesterday confirmed that left-back Benjamin Mendy had suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury in the win over Crystal Palace.

Aguero was in superb form having struck a recent hat-trick at Watford in Gameweek 5, followed by an 11-point return with a goal and an assist against Palace last time out.

That form had triggered a huge rush of interest from Fantasy Premier League managers who had made Aguero the single biggest bandwagon of the season following his 20-point haul at Vicarage Road. Over 770,000 FPL managers swooped ahead of Gameweek 6.

The striker is currently part of 1.3 million squads, with his owners now waiting on further confirmation before doubtless moving to replace Aguero.

Gabriel Jesus – who was omitted from the Gameweek 6 line-up by manager Pep Guardiola – would seem assured of regular starts in the central striker role should Aguero’s injury be confirmed.

Equally, Raheem Sterling’s stock as a 7.9 midfield option would rise given his recent form, with continued starts more likely.

It’s an incredible twist of events that could de-rail Aguero and maybe City’s early season form. The timing coincides exactly with last season’s slump which followed ten successive victories.

We can only join in wishing Aguero a safe and quick recovery.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

What to do, 1FT and £0 ITB

    DDG (Elliot)
    Alonso BDavies Hegazi (Long Hunemeir)
    Salah Silva Mhik Atsu Carroll
    Kane Lukaku (Mounie)

    Was thinking Mounie > Abraham?

Oh dear.... to think that all of us said its stupid to do Kun to Kaku and the back to Kun after IB.... if only we knew how we would have dodged a bullet... oh well...

If Aguero is out for 5/6 weeks will this mean more minutes for

What's the best option here? (0.9itb, still have WC)

    A) Mounie -> Joselu
    B) Mounie -> Carroll
    C) Suttner -> Cresswell

    Foster Bailly Tarkowski
    Eriksen Salah Mkhi Atsu
    Kane Kaku Mounie

    Elliot - Carroll Suttner Long

    Appreciate all feedback, lads!

A, or I'm thinking Niasse could prove to be a decent cheap 3rd forward option for the coming weeks

Very interesting prospect, but do those two goals make him nailed? Wary of a potential Gabbiadini trap... Joselu's stats is tempting, but I guess his starts might be under pressure from Mitrovic as well if he doesn't convert shots into goals?

Meh is Jesus worth the hit vs. Chelsea for Aguero?

Prefer Lacazette's fixture, or maybe Vardy.

If Jesus is City's only fit striker for 6-8 weeks and therefore playing every fixture in that time frame, he'll be hauled off for a rest as soon Pep feels the game is won. For this reason i'd avoid

This front line is the way to go forward right?

    Kane Morata (Laca/Jesus)

Lukaku tough fixtures is why i leave him.out

      Kane morata jesus
      Seems tasty!!!

  8. Drum8888
    9 years, 1 month ago

Damn that sucks for Aguero, hope it's nothing too serious.

Just too Jesus out for Morata last night, think Jesus will end up the sole striker? He might be a good option still then.

  9. jam
    9 years, 1 month ago

So, I need to get Aguero out. Was going to get Lukaku in for a week (selling Jesus) then switch to Kane.
Should I just go straight to Kane this week or Kun>Lukaku this week, then Kane after the break?
Glad I didn't rush into selling Jesus.

  10. DAZZ

Not an issue for me. Wenger likes him to get forward from the deeper position with Xhaka playing more of a holding role.

Really wanted to roll the FT over to have 2 FT over the international break...

    Elliot Foster
    Kolasinac Lascelles Yoshida Jones Long
    Eriksen Mkhi D.Silva Carroll Puncheon
    Lukaku Firmino Jesus

    1FT 0.6 ITB

    Which one is best?
    A) Jones > Monreal
    B) Jones > Otamendi
    C) Jones > BDavies
    D) Roll FT and play Lascelles and hope Yoshida plays too

    2-) Play T.Caroll

    Fabianski
    BDavies Jones Simpson Kola
    Miki Atsu Eriksen
    Kane(C) Aguero* Morata

    Subs: Elliot, Carroll, Chalobah, Mbemba

Now on -4... so I do:
    1) Kun to Kaku...after IB Jesus if okay
    2) Directly Jesus
    3) Kun to Laca... after IB Jesus if okay

ofcourse. silva club captain and only untouchable city attacker under pep

    4. The Left Duke #3
      9 years, 1 month ago

Tough call....Pep to go Sane & Sterling wide of Jesus with Silva KDB and Fernandinho in the middle.

Silva in great form but he could easily revert back the assist the assister player of previous seasons. Sane and Sterling similar in that they get in great positions but end product can be suspect.

Any of the 3 will do very well from GW 8 onwards with 3 H MC games in 4. KDB is the one that is way overpriced for me so will be avoiding.
