Time for our weekly Sky Sports Focus article where we take a look back at the weekend action before preparing you for the incoming Gameweek.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 7 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result:

FixtureMoTM
West Ham vs SpursHarry Kane
Swansea vs WatfordKiko Femenia
Man City vs Crystal PalaceLeroy Sane
Stoke vs ChelseaAlvaro Morata
Burnley vs HuddersfieldChristopher Schindler
Everton vs BournemouthOumar Niasse
Southampton vs Man UnitedPhil Jones
Leicester vs LiverpoolPhilippe Coutinho
Brighton vs NewcastleTomer Hemed
Arsenal vs West BromNacho Monreal

Alvaro Morata’s 24-point haul made him the highest scoring player this week and adds yet another expensive forward option to a growing list.

Harry Kane’s impressive away form continued with a 17-point return to follow his 19 against Everton, while Philippe Coutinho flew the flag for pricey midfielders with 16 points, leaving managers pondering how to stretch their budget even further.

Luckily, Christopher Schindler and Kiko Femenia seem to be on hand to offer us great enablers. Both players have been in excellent form, with the former now the eighth highest-scoring player overall. He costs just 6.0.

Gameweek 7 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn eight points or more in bonus for the season.

Gabriel Jesus is the top target out after his benching at the weekend – but that was before the Sergio Aguero story broke earlier today.

The lack of points from Everton duo Wayne Rooney and Michael Keane seems to have counted against them (as has the latter’s injury doubt), while Christian Eriksen and Roberto Firmino make up the final two spots.

Sergio Aguero is again the most sought-after player and is now the highest scorer in the game. However, his injury following a car accident in Amsterdam is obviously going to have its effect this Gameweek and beyond.

Jamaal Lascelles is a somewhat surprising inclusion but has already netted twice in the league to add to his appeal. Mohammed Salah continues to feature week after week, while Alvaro Morata’s hat-trick and Alexandre Lacazette’s brace make them hot properties.

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership who I think could be good options for the coming six weeks.

Notes

A jump in rank by nearly 3,000 places for me, so all in all a pretty good week.

Fraser Forster and Kyle Naughton claimed clean sheets in the previous round and they handed the torch to Mathias Jorgensen and Markus Suttner in Gameweek 6. If I can get two shutouts a week I’ll be more than happy.

My early move for Philippe Coutinho really paid off as he returned a 16-point haul.

He was Sky Sports gold last season thanks to his monopoly on the MoTM award and I expect the same again moving forward.

Mohamed Salah chipped in with his usual goal, but it’s the other two midfielders that are causing me most concern.

Nemanja Matic failed to provide bonus and has now earned it just three times – that’s a major worry for a player whose sole appeal is passing and tackles.

My other main issue is Anthony Knockaert. The reason for his inclusion was to cover Brighton’s many single match days and therefore offer a captain option.

But as it turns out, Markus Suttner appears to be the better captain option as clean sheets seem more obtainable than Knockaert points.

I’m not sure how I look to rectify those issues, but have a number of players on my personal watchlist.

Switching to a 4-3-3 formation with Phil Jones at 7.5 was an option I had considered but he now looks set to miss out against Palace tomorrow.

Another alternative is to switch to a premium midfielder and budget midfield gem such as Watford’s Andre Carrillo, who is just 5.8.

Obviously Carrillo’s main appeal is his enabling price, but he’s also looked threatening in the matches I’ve watched, so he could start to churn out the odd assist. He’s started the last four matches in a row, although Roberto Pereyra’s return may change that.

Thankfully, Watford’s fixtures are still pretty tough, so I’ll sit back and assess before jumping ship. Unfortunately, that means I’ll likely stick with Matic and Knockaert for now in an effort to conserve transfers.

Captaining Alexandre Lacazette on Monday was a great feeling as finally one of my armband “hokey-cokey” transfers paid off in style.

The fact he didn’t get MoTM was a blow, given that he earned it early in the season for essentially “making his debut”, but I guess I can’t argue with Nacho Monreal, who was sensational on the day.

Captain Plan

Sat 30th – Kane (hud)
Sun 1st – Lacazette (BHA)

Neither Sane nor Silva are nailed, but their chances of starting have increased considerably with the Aguero injury, and even the Mendy one (Sane at LWB).

Silva would be my preference though.

    0FT - £0.7m ITB

1/ Laca then swap for Morata or Jesus for next GW
    2/ Morata or Jesus now

Probably doing 2 b/c can't afford to commit another transfer the way things are going. But 1 is better otherwise.

Exactly what I'm thinking. But Laca's fairly likely to outscore Morata or Jesus by at least 4 points.
Also having a terrible start this season so need to take some risks.

need some help whether to WC or not. I took a hit to bring in Agu, and i feel like taking -8 hit is almost equal to a WC, and leaving agu on is not an option.

      Team BEFORE wildcard:
      De Gea - Elliot
      Davies - Bertrand - Mee - Mbemba - Rosenior
      Salah - Mkhytarian - Ritchie - GroS - Carroll
      Kane - Aguero - Morata

      Possible team AFTER wildcard:
      De Gea - Elliot
      Davies - Ward - Simpson - Mbemba - Rosenior
      Coutinho - Mkhytarian - Ramsey - ChoupoMoting - King
      Kane - Morata - Lukaku

Plan is to swap lukaku vs jesus next gw and then maybe up ramsey to citymidfielder

Any commets advice would be greatly appretiated. Been pondering for hours!

        Aguero to:

        A) Lukaku (tough fixtures from gw8, great form, ownership and captain potential gw7 - I own Kane though)
        B) Lacazette (fixture and decent form)
        C) Jesus (fixture from gw8, decent form, tough gw7)
        D) Morata (great form and fixture from gw8, tough gw7)

Really cant decide.. Im also getting in either Morata or Jesus next gw for Firmino. Any good arguments for picking one over the others? Thought of picking Lacazette as he wont be used as much in the European games compared to the others.. but you could argue he is the player who are in the "least good" form out of those options. Thougts very much appreciated.

Cresswell in worth a hit? For any of Mee, Suttner, Bertrand. He looks so capable of assist points but I've used my FTs and I'm not naturally very patient :'( My two ever-starting defenders are Kola and Bavies.

But that's just it - I'm not considering him "as a defender"! Considering him as a "value mid" if you like, who I would consider playing ahead of my 4th midfielder (have Ritchie, Choupo, Carroll as 3rd 4th 5th mids) regardless of CS prospects.

But yeh, I have Bertie....sensibly I know I should just play him and get Cresswell next week. And then cover my eyes as Cressy gets 3 assists...

Firmino to drop again tonight? Likely to WC next GW so might just do Firmino > Rashford for a 1 week punt and save 0.1 for my WC as well!

Other move is Antonio > Ramsey (but he may play deep)!

            Any advice experts?

Is Aguero to Lacazette the best option? (Already have Kane and Lukaku)

He seems like the best option for this week for sure. Long term I'm going Jesus or Morata personally.

Damn , Well if no player only a -2 so I would look at a defender at the price but not sure if Martina plays.
                      If so yeah an option

If you have 4.5 only to spend, do it. He should play this gw because of the injuries.

Pre-WC punt is not just a regular punt. I think that we should all use it for our guilty pleasure players (handsome ones for example), or simply some players from crappy team we support.

I am going to do the latter by transfering Mounie out today for one of my woeful, horrible Everton's forwards. I am very tempted with Niasse but it still could be DCL. The thing is, I dont think I am going to have either of these guys at any other stage of the season, so why not today? Its now or never.

It has to be Niasse, right? Its not like he is more reasonable pick. I just love the guy as a person and he was treated horribly last season by Koeman. He needs this, I know he needs to be in my fpl team.

That's the nicest reason for a pick! Hope he gets some points for you, good luck.

Ouch, its unfortunate you cant stretch to Monreal, but there are plenty of defs around 5mil for this weekend - Creswell, Maguire, Cedric, Dawson. I think that Cresswell is my favorite.

            With Jones out,

            A) Play Tom Carroll
            B) Do Jones -> Cresswell for free

Was all set on a simple Jesus -> Lacazette this weekend for free and now the Aguero injury has me second guessing and thinking of keeping Jesus instead.

On WC right now. Down to this.
            Ramsey+Cedric or Bellerin+Tadic
Same price. No other Arsenal/Saints coverage. 🙂
