The headline news this morning is that Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero has been involved in a car accident and is expected to face a period on the sidelines with fractured ribs.

Aguero has returned to Manchester to be assessed, with City boss Pep Guardiola set to provide an update on his condition in today’s lunchtime press conference, amid fears that Aguero could be out for up to three months.

Certainly, the City boss doesn’t have his problems to seek after Benjamin Mendy was ruled out for the foreseeable future having sustained knee ligament damage during the 5-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The hosts will be without the suspended David Luiz for the Saturday evening showdown.

Danny Williams (foot), Steve Mounie (knock) and Collin Quaner (calf) all remain out for Huddersfield Town’s home fixture against Tottenham Hotspur. Manager David Wagner is optimistic that Mounie will be back in contention for the Gameweek 8 clash against Swansea.

Spurs make their way to John Smith’s Stadium with Christian Eriksen back in contention. The Dane returned to training yesterday, having recovered from the illness that forced him to miss the midweek trip to Cyprus.

Harry Arter is expected to sit out Bournemouth’s home fixture against Leicester City, while fellow midfielder Dan Gosling has also emerged as a doubt.

Jamie Vardy is dealing with a hip problem, but trained for the first time this week on Thursday, and is expected to start against the Cherries.

Michael Carrick will miss Manchester United’s home meeting with Crystal Palace, while Phil Jones and Marouane Fellaini are both major doubts. Anthony Martial could shake off a knock to be involved at Old Trafford.

Mark Hughes will have Kurt Zouma available for the home clash against Southampton after the defender was ineligible to face parent club Chelsea last weekend. The Potters boss is optimistic on Geoff Cameron’s chances of recovering from a hamstring problem, though Kevin Wimmer is unlikely to be risked as he nurses a similar complaint.

Virgil van Dijk should come under strong consideration for a first start of the season when Southampton travel to the bet365 Stadium.

Oliver Burke and Nacer Chadli are both lacking match fitness, and aren’t expected to feature for West Bromwich Albion against Watford.

Hornets defender Miguel Britos returns from suspension for the trip to the Hawthorns, but Nathaniel Chalobah faces a long spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury.

Manuel Lanzini and Michail Antonio are both available for West Ham United’s home encounter against Swansea City, but Pedro Obiang remains out.

Swansea head coach Paul Clement has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the trip to the London Stadium, with Ki Sung-yeung and Nathan Dyer both still unavailable as they continue to build up their match fitness with the U23s.

Chris Hughton will be without the suspended Tomer Hemed for the trip to Arsenal, after the FA upheld a charge of violent conduct.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this tomorrow’s 11.30am deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

          Good point - didn't spot that. Don't get Trippier though - think he's behind Aurier in the pecking order at RB.

    3 quite different moves here - best one?

    A) Phillips -> Choupo-Moting
    B) Silva & Jesus -> Mkhi & Lacazette (WC in GW8)
    C) Moreno -> Martina/Mbemba (cash banked enables Phillips & Lukaku -> Sterling & Morata in GW8)

    Foster
    Bavies, Cedric, Moreno
    Alli, Silva, Phillips, Carroll
    Kane, Jesus, Lukaku

    Elliot, RLC, Naughton, Long
    Bank 0.4m, 2FT, WC available

        You think it needs a WC next week though? Not sure I'd make more than about 4-5 changes, and I have 3 FT (this week and next) to do the important ones. I'm quite tempted by (C) - gives this front 8 for GW8 for no hits.

        Alli, Silva, Sterling (Carroll/RLC)
        Kane, Morata, Jesus

      Don't do B! Aguero out for weeks, Jesus will have a secured place now. And given Silva's game time and form, selling him could be a big mistake!

    Played wildcard earlier in the week but with Aguero out I now have £1.6 ITB and Jones to worry about

    Fabianski (Elliot)
    Jones, Davies, Kolasinac, Mee (Mbemba)
    Silva, Sterling, Matic (Surman, King)
    Kane, Lukaku, Jesus

    Maybe Cedric for Jones but I'm struggling for mid price midfielders.

    Any ideas or gtg?

            I know, cheapest non-City midfielder who has shown up yet is Mkhi at 8.5, I'd rather spend it on a front 3 who are swimming in goals.

      Matic > Ritchie
      Sterling > almost any of ericksen/ alli / salah/ cout/mane/mkit

      Silva sterling & Jesus is overkill esp for this wknd and sterling is a big rotation problem

    In a dilemma regarding the Aguero news, seem to have an argument for each striker.

    Currently have a front line of: Kane - Aguero* - Firmino

    A) Morata - Long term looks good, will be only Chelsea cover I have going forward - but City this week.
    B) Jesus - Again, looks good long term. He will be my only City cover again until probably next week - but Chelsea (A).
    C) Lukaku - Palace at home for a demolition job this week, do not want him long term after though.

    What are thoughts anybody is having?

    1. The Left Duke #3

      Aguero and Firmino should be Jesus and Morata from GW 8 onwards. Maybe Kun to Lukaku this week though

      Looking at FPLstatistics people are opting equally for Morata, Laca and Lukaku with Jesus slightly behind. For meget though, IT had to be Lacazette or Lukaku. Probably Lacazette as he has better fixtures and is cheaper.. and the fact that I have Kane as a reliable captain option tomorrow.

    Aguero -> Kane (-4)

    Surely worth the hit?

    Aguero + jones --> lacazette + Valencia and -4 .. worth it ? Using wildcard after regardless

      If you're wildcarding, why not just Aguero for Laca?

      If not, you are betting that Valencia scores at least 4 points more than Jones, or 4 points more than his replacement off your bench.

      Aguero -> Laca and play your 4th defender

      Both are terrible picks

    RMT: WC edition

    Fabianski, Foster
    Bellerin, Otamendi, Cedric, Femenia, Suttner
    Alli, Salah, Richarlison, Atsu, RLC
    Lukaku, Jesus, Morata

    The plan is to switch Bellerin for David Luiz during the international break

      No Kane....

      I like it apart from that.

        I know but he's so expensive! I'm not selling Lukaku and would need 2.0 plus to get Kane for Jesus or Morata, and I'm not sure it's worth all the cuts I'd need to make

        Meant to say Elliot instead of Foster btw

    Play one this week:

    A. Wimmer (SOU) -- the only home player
    B. Cedric (stk) -- the Saints are getting solid defensively
    C. Carroll (whu) -- play the attack / Hammers are poor in defense
    D. Groß (ars) -- play the attack / form over fixtures?
