It’s now time for our weekly Sky Sports Focus article, where we look back at last weekend’s action, before preparing you for the incoming Gameweek.

We’ll examine the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, the bonus point beneficiaries, transfer trends and Watchlist, before moving on to the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 10 Man of the Match Awards

These were the players who caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters and earned an extra five points as a result.

Fixture MoTM
Liverpool vs Man United Joe Gomez
Man City vs Stoke Kevin De Bruyne
Burnley vs West Ham Steven Defour
Spurs vs Bournemouth Asmir Begovic
Swansea vs Huddersfield Tammy Abraham
Crystal Palace vs Chelsea Wilfried Zaha
Watford vs Arsenal Tom Cleverley
Brighton vs Everton Anthony Knockaert
Southampton vs Newcastle Manolo Gabbiadini
Leicester vs West Brom Marc Albrighton

Kevin De Bruyne picked up his third award of the season and second in as many matches. The Belgian is in the form of his life right now and, despite playing in a deeper role, could still be worth the outlay at 11.5m.

The budget-friendly Tammy Abraham (8.6m) earned his second award and continues to look great value in Swansea City’s home matches.

Sky Sports favourite Wilfried Zaha returned from his early-season injury to lead the line for Crystal Palace against Chelsea and promptly delivered a goal and MoTM award. At 9.3m, he once again looks a tempting option ahead of an extended run of favourable fixtures for Palace, particularly if he remains in the central striker role.

Gameweek 10 Bonus Points

Let’s take a look at any player to earn 11 points or more in bonus for the season

members

Four Man City players make the top six positions, with Fernandinho now the game’s overall bonus leader.

Notes

And so concludes possibly my worst ever Gameweek in Sky Sports.

Only Harry Kane netted more than two points after obtaining shots on target bonus. That was made all the more painful by Eden Hazard, Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah all scoring a hatful of points in Europe midweek.

Last week I said It was a risk going without Man City players and ultimately that’s what punished me. I’m now scratching my head and wondering how I can fit one of them in.

David Silva or Raheem Sterling are my preferred options due to their cheaper price points in comparison to De Bruyne and the City forwards. But I don’t want to lose any of my aforementioned midfielders or either of the highest-owned players in the game, in Kane and Romelu Lukaku.

That leaves me with Jamie Vardy, who only just came in on Monday and is required for captain cover over the next few weeks. For now, then, I’m going to have to rely on Burnley to stifle the City attack. Terrifying.

Captain Plan
Fri 20th – Suttner (whm)
Sat 21st – Lukaku (hud)
Sun 22nd – Kane (LIV)

Is it crazy I'm thinking of captaining Antonio at home to Brighton? Would be a massive differential, only 0.7% ownership and I don't think it's inconceivable he gets a double figure haul. Easiest fixture and more or less nailed onto play the full 90.

Whereas my other potential captains I have doubts about, Kane struggling at home and has got a difficult fixture against L'pool. Jesus and Sterling I'm unsure about how many minutes with Aguero back in the mix and I think Burnley might put up a better defensive fight against them. Morata just coming back from injury and is against a Watford side who are having a good season so far and are unbeaten away from home.

I'll probably end up keeping it on Kane, more out of fear than anything though, he's capable of getting an hat-trick at any time in my opinion.

I think you do have to consider ownership and consistency with captains. If Antonio does well then great, but us non owners won't feel even a ripple with our gw ranks. It would be a nice story to say you were one of the few that did it, but players like Antonio don't offer the consistancy that the poll leaders do. Choose from those and take Antonio points (if they come) as a positive.

    4. MTPockets
      8 years, 8 months ago

Not necessarily crazy. It's a decent fixture on paper - west ham ok home form, brighton yet to win away (with just one clean sheet away).

Wasn't Antonio's goal last week a defensive error? That's a minus for me.

I've gone with both Aguero and Jesus too, think they're too good to leave out.

Also, if either doesn't start, there's always a good chance they'll score off the bench. Man City are that ruthless they keep trying to score til the final whistle.

Is this the hardest captaincy decision of the season so far? You have out of form Lukaku, Kane on Wembley, Morata not 100%, Hazard hot/cold, uncertainty regarding everyone on City...

I think RLC and Carroll have one attacking return between them to date. I prefer the chance of a clean sheet and potential for attacking return from maguire over the 4.5 mids. Cant say I know enough about Ayew

yeh fair shout, i thought RLC was the only Palace player looking decent before he got injured but I doubt he'll come straight back in after they beat Chelsea.

It's probably between Maguire and Ayew.

          cheers guys

Any feedback on the team? Suggestions on who to bench between Cedric and Davis?

    Elliot
    Fonte, Bavies, Lascelles, (Cedric, Mbemba)
    Silva, Sterling, Groß, Davis, (King)
    (C)Lukaku, Kane, Morata

    Thank you!

Steven Davis? i would definitely play Cedric over him.

Nice front 5 for this week but defence and bench a bit too weak imo. anything itb?

With Rose returning and the next features being difficult, why should I keep Davies?
