The Gameweek finale falls on Turf Moor, for a Monday night encounter under the lights between Burnley and Newcastle United.

Fantasy interest is limited, in the main, to the defensive players on show. That’s a good thing scanning the statistics building up to this match.

Sean Dyche’s Clarets have scored the fewest home league goals this season, with just two efforts. But his defence have been typically miserly: only Liverpool and Manchester United have allowed fewer goals than the two conceded by Burnley.

Meanwhile, Newcastle arrive boasting just three away goals, only Everton and Crystal Palace have scored fewer.

Their goalkeeper, Rob Elliot, is the most owned player on show this evening. Now part of 26.4% of squads, the Magpies custodian trails only David De Gea (39.2%) in that respect. However, some 62% of Elliot’s 1.4 million owners keep him on the bench for Gameweek 10.

Stephen Ward has become the go-to option in the Burnley defence. The left-back is now owned by 14.7% of managers having already produced a goal and two assists this season, alongside three clean sheets.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

If you were happy enough with your team and still have WC intact..

How/When would be decent option to play it we reckon?
If I use it during the upcoming International break- probably looking at no more than 4/5 transfers for example at a push.

Had always planned to WC over the international break but after a strong week I’m not so sure. 1FT 0.1 ITB. To WC or not to WC?

    De Gea Elliot

    Kolasinac Cedric Mee Naughton Mariappa

    Sterling Salah Richie Carrol RLC

    Jesus Kane Lukaku

    What to do?!

    1. Lazaretti
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 9 months ago

Maybe you can postpone your WC one week after IB. You would need to upgrade your midfield. One budget forward will do it but I don't know is that the best way to go.

I am going to WC prob in IB. I have Davies, Foster, Yoshida, and DCL which needs to go for sure. I think you could save you FT if you are no going to WC and then get rid of Cedric. Other option is to WC, difficult...

About to play my wildcard, how do you think this team looks:

    De Gea, Martinez
Tripper, David Luiz, Ward, Hunemeier, Rangel
Sane, David Silva, Hazard, Romeu, Matic
    Jesus, Morata, Chicharito

I have enough $ for a swap of Jesus for Aguero. I'm really unsure of which one to pick at this stage, so any advice on that would be fantastic.

    1. My neck my back my Saed Kol…
      • 11 Years
      8 years, 9 months ago

There’s definitely better options the Romeu and matic and trippier is a rotation risk with Aurier. Solid start though. As for aguero or Jesus it’s a case of flip a coin and stick with one. I’ve got Jesus but would probably pick aguero if I was getting one in

    2. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      • 16 Years
      8 years, 9 months ago

In attack I would do Hazard/Chicharito > Kaku & Groß..

In defence would do Trippier, Hunmeir, Rangel > Naughton, Dunk, Dann/Daniels

Then also try to get Matic/Romeu > RLC & Atsu/Fellaini/Doucouré

    3. shotgunnufc - MANIAC

      people to move on:
      trippier (rotation risk)
Hune and rangel (need one or both to be starting defenders with other rotation risk payers you have)
Romeu and matic (may as well play RLC and Carrol for the same returns and cheaper)

with the forwards everyone will have their own opinion, personally I think as soon as Kane is fit you will need him in your WC team

maybe save your WC till IB and more info, or have you pressed the button?

      1. Bazzy
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 9 months ago

Haven't pressed the button just yet. Having a play around with some of the players you guys have suggested. My team is not so good at the moment. I have 3 injured players and some out of form. I do have 2 FT however, so you may be right for me to wait till IB.

My team at the minute is:

        De Gea, Martinez
        Alderweireld, Azpilicueta, Otamendi, Zabaleta, Rangel,
De Bruyne, Matic, Romeu, Pogba (don't ask), McArthur
        Aguero, Chicharito, Morata

        Bench is a mess.

    Richarlison, silva, salah
    kun (vc), kane (c), vardy

    Pope// Carrol, RLC, mbemba

    1ft 1.5 itb

    Hi gents,

Any reason for the large BAP advantage of CBs? Whenever there's a clean sheet, it is always the Jones/Koscielny/Yoshidas that get the BAPs over the Wards/Alonsos/Trippiers (provided they don't assist or score)

Is this since they're more likely to make tackles/interceptions?

    1. TheTinman
      • 10 Years

Wondering too. I sometimes wonder if throwing a cross in which gets defended is bad for baps

I guess the algorithms favour them to balance the fact that wing backs are more likely to get attacking returns, otherwise everybody would ignore the CBs ? It is a fairly recent thing

I have a defender selection dilemma this GW. Need to play three.

    1. Otamendi (ARS)
    2. Jones (che)
    3. Moreno (whu)
    4. Naughton (BHA)
    5. Lowe (WBA)

    So which three?

Who would be your captain if you have Kane and he is injured?
    No standout option I guess.

Went Hazard last week. Either him or Salah for me.

Cheers. Didn't fancy Salah although the penalty miss was u lucky. Thought about Richarlison but then realised it wasn't worth the risk when I had Hazard facing Bournemouth, seemed like the safest bet

Went Salah myself. That penalty miss was a 20-point swing perhaps.

Is there a general consensus on the best time to wildcard?

Whenever you feel you team needs it. There's no 'this is the time everyone should wildcard' gameweek. If you think your team could be improved significantly then hit the button

This, you make the decision when you think it will give you the best advantage.

    need an Alonso replacement?

Any ideas welcome, already have a Jones, Hegazi, Simpson, Mbemba..

Spurs CB perhaps or maybe even burnley to free up cash, Spurs full backs rotation risks?

why not keep? Chel fixtures turn very soon and he could easily get a cleanie v united

Hes not been value for money to be honest. There are cheaper ways into clean sheets which is a defenders bread and butter

      Vertonghen.

Spurs full back, Burnley or Brighton defender also a good bet. I'd get rid of Hegazi too as soon you have a chance and upgrade Mbemba before the fixtures start piling up

Agreed, Mbemba more pressing then Hegazi as WB are always good for a cleanie.

Spurs full back, not sure anyone is completely Nailed on with champs league etc

Vertongen or Toby surely are. I prefer Vertongen. Not sure why... Good for 6 pts but probably not much more than that. It's not the most exciting but it should be a steady stream of points. Real shame about the wing backs...
