As we all know too well, the world of Fantasy football can be a fickle one. Within the space of a Gameweek or two, a must-have acquisition can quickly become dispensable in our quest for the latest man in form.

But patience, as our mothers dutifully instilled in us, is a virtue. And over the course of a long and tumultuous season, it could well be rewarded.

Arguably, nowhere is this erratic ownership cycle more prominent than in the recent case of David Silva.

The Manchester City playmaker, whose ownership ballooned from 160,000 to almost 1.5 million over the course of the first nine Gameweeks, has since found himself shunned. Almost 100,000 owners have parted company as of last weekend, earning him the ignominy of being the week’s most-sold player in Fantasy Premier League.

The appeal of Silva, in theory at least, is twofold.

The reliability of his pitch-time (he has started every Premier League match, playing 870 of a potential 900 minutes to date) has combined with the consistency of his point returns (attacking points in 50% of his matches, including two double-figure hauls) and a fondness for bonus points (an average of 15 baseline BPS per week).

Are managers right to jettison Silva at this juncture? Or is the case of an itchy trigger finger leading us down a dangerous path?

This week’s Technical Area will dive into Silva’s recent performances in order to determine the appropriate strategy for his still-numerous manager base moving forward.

    Nice article! 🙂

Cédric > Jones with my FT before the rise and fall?

    A. Yes. Have 1FT over IB. Risk of Jones getting injured.

    B. No. Have 2FTs over IB. Lose 0.2m from the rise and fall.

Wilson was in contention for an England call up before his first knee injury. If he were to get back to that form he would be first choice.
