Rest and rotation casts a huge shadow over Wednesday’s events, until one particular Liverpool player produced 23 minutes of magic.

The Fantasy world went into meltdown when teamsheets were released, with a cast of big hitters either benched or rested completely.

Among the worst hit appeared to be the 49.0% of managers who had made Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) most owned player. The free-scoring midfielder was named only among the substitutes for the visit to Stoke City.

More than 200,000 managers made him the second most popular transfer target ahead of Gameweek 14 – trailing only Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata – while a further 8.7% handed the Egyptian the captaincy and promptly endured 67 minutes of despair until Jurgen Klopp finally introduced Salah from the bench.

The Reds had been holding on to a tenuous 1-0 lead given to them by Sadio Mane’s goal from a Dominic Solanke cross before Salah weaved his magic, hitting a brace that brought in 11 vital points – with two bonus points adding to the haul.

Mane and Emre Can provided the assists as Salah’s amazing scoring run continued. He now has three braces from the last four Gameweeks and leads the race for the Golden Boot with 12 goals.

Salah’s prodigious season is starting to assume Suarez-like proportions, and he brings the added joy of extra points from goals and clean sheets that come from a midfielder.

In a season where big-hitting attackers are suffering patchy runs or rotation issues – compounded by Gameweek 14’s events – Salah serenely glides on, putting previous Liverpool mainstays such as Philippe Coutinho, also benched tonight, and Robert Firmino in the shade.

With Liverpool looking forward to a fine short-term schedule (bha EVE WBA Bou), Salah’s ownership will surely surge above 50% for Gameweek 15, and his captaincy levels will also continue on an upward curve.

Reds defence deliver on the road

Klopp’s defence held on for a sixth clean sheet of the season, with Alberto Moreno and Joe Gomez spared rotation to start in the full-back spots once again.

The Spaniard has now started nine straight league matches, while the young England international has been involved in eight of the last nine.

Meanwhile, the Liverpool boss confirmed post-match that Ragnar Klavan missed out at the bet365 Stadium through illness.

The Stoke shut-out was Liverpool’s first away from home and with those strong fixtures to come, investment in one of this cut-price pair – they’re both currently available for 4.6 – appears attractive.

As for Stoke, they’ve now conceded 29 goals.

Only West Ham, who were thrashed 4-0 tonight, have allowed more, and the Potters have now kept just two clean sheets from their 14 matches this season.

Much as we’d like to scour the Stoke defence for cut-price options, their current form and confidence is just too weak – even in the light of improving fixtures.

Everton look good for a CS at home to Hud & CHE are playing a very average Newcastle side at home, so this will tempt me right up until the deadline:

    I have 1 ft & 0.2itb. My keepers are Lossl/Elliot

    (a) play Lossl v Everton away or

I would defo play him if I knew he was starting just worried about him being benched with the managerial change after reading a few comments on here. So I guess what I'm asking is does the reward justify the risk?

If Burnley had a great fixture I'd say no, but @ Leicester is tough and it's not like Ward has a great chance at attacking returns. Maybe Big Sam will give us a clue on Niasse in the next couple days though.

        1. Pierce34
          • 10 Years
          8 years, 4 months ago

Haha, considering it. There are a couple of ways I could go with my 2.3 ITB considering I have most of the players I want. Basically either get a premium keeper (would have to be Courtois with those fixtures) which would leave 0.9 for minor changes here and there, or stay budget in defence and get Ramsey for 'coverage' (for want of a better word). Choupo-Moting is a player I don't trust in general, even though he hasn't done too badly.

I have to admit, when I got Ramsey on my wildcard I never saw him as a long-term solution, thinking that he was just in a short-term purple patch, which is why I sold him. He's pretty much convinced me he can get returns consistently.

CM never intersted me in the slightest as he plays for Stoke 😉
I've shifted my money out of defence and not really a fan of spending more than 8.5 on keepers but DDG & Courtois look solid options atm!

But I'm still being killed atm with both Dann & Jones not playing 🙁

    (A) Gray, Alli -> RLC, Hazard (-4)
    (B) Save this week and do this next week: Alli, Gray, Daniels -> Ramsey, Richarlison, Alonso (-4)

    Fabianski (Elliot)
Mustafi - Mee - Daniels (Naughton, Mbemba)
Salah - Gray* - Sterling - Alli* (Carroll)
    Kane - Morata - Vardy

Oh my, this gameweek has damaged my OR. Tumbled from 200k to 670k.

Unfortunately, I owned all the players who got a bench stint yesterday and Morata (c) turned out to be a huge fail.

    Good to go?

    Pope
    Azpilicueta, Daniels, Moreno
Hazard (c), Salah (vc), Richarlison, Sane
    Kane, Morata, Niasse

    Subs: Elliot; Loftus, Mustafi, Tarkowski

    Thank you for the feedback!:)

Think? I'm honestly not convinced they'll get a clean sheet against Leicester away tbh. Feel like Loftus is more likely to score or assist against wba. Will put him before Mustafi as Arsenal generally are very poor against top sides.

What move do I make with my FT's? Jones out? To who?

    Foster
    Ward-Moreno-Daniels
    Sterling-Salah-Ramsay-Richarlison
    Morata-Kane-Vardy

    Elliot- Carroll-Jones-Long

I'm 3 transfers away from this team, planning to do it in the next 2 GW (note I currently have Daniels, so he is the last to go as fixtures change).

    Pope - Elliot

    Otamendi - Christensen - Moreno - Mee - Mbemba

Hazard - Salah - Sterling - Richarlson - Loftus Cheek

    Kane - Morata - Niasse

I still have 1.4 ITB, where to spend it? Either:

    A) Downgrade Otamendi to Watford 4.5, Upgrade RLC to Ramsey

    B) Upgrade Niasse

    C) Upgrade defence further for extra big hitters

    D) Other (please advise)

    Thanks!

      (a) you can do in gw16 re Otamendi
      (b) would leave until his playing status is confirmed
      (c) if you do the RLC upgrade in (a) this will be impossible. I would leave RLC for balance & if you want Ramsey then trade Richarlison but this could be pretty sideways considering Watford's fixtures from gw16.
      (d) I would use the money from the Otamendi sale to upgrade Elliot &/or Mbemba
