Rest and rotation casts a huge shadow over Wednesday’s events, until one particular Liverpool player produced 23 minutes of magic.

The Fantasy world went into meltdown when teamsheets were released, with a cast of big hitters either benched or rested completely.

Among the worst hit appeared to be the 49.0% of managers who had made Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) most owned player. The free-scoring midfielder was named only among the substitutes for the visit to Stoke City.

More than 200,000 managers made him the second most popular transfer target ahead of Gameweek 14 – trailing only Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata – while a further 8.7% handed the Egyptian the captaincy and promptly endured 67 minutes of despair until Jurgen Klopp finally introduced Salah from the bench.

The Reds had been holding on to a tenuous 1-0 lead given to them by Sadio Mane’s goal from a Dominic Solanke cross before Salah weaved his magic, hitting a brace that brought in 11 vital points – with two bonus points adding to the haul.

Mane and Emre Can provided the assists as Salah’s amazing scoring run continued. He now has three braces from the last four Gameweeks and leads the race for the Golden Boot with 12 goals.

Salah’s prodigious season is starting to assume Suarez-like proportions, and he brings the added joy of extra points from goals and clean sheets that come from a midfielder.

In a season where big-hitting attackers are suffering patchy runs or rotation issues – compounded by Gameweek 14’s events – Salah serenely glides on, putting previous Liverpool mainstays such as Philippe Coutinho, also benched tonight, and Robert Firmino in the shade.

With Liverpool looking forward to a fine short-term schedule (bha EVE WBA Bou), Salah’s ownership will surely surge above 50% for Gameweek 15, and his captaincy levels will also continue on an upward curve.

Reds defence deliver on the road

Klopp’s defence held on for a sixth clean sheet of the season, with Alberto Moreno and Joe Gomez spared rotation to start in the full-back spots once again.

The Spaniard has now started nine straight league matches, while the young England international has been involved in eight of the last nine.

Meanwhile, the Liverpool boss confirmed post-match that Ragnar Klavan missed out at the bet365 Stadium through illness.

The Stoke shut-out was Liverpool’s first away from home and with those strong fixtures to come, investment in one of this cut-price pair – they’re both currently available for 4.6 – appears attractive.

As for Stoke, they’ve now conceded 29 goals.

Only West Ham, who were thrashed 4-0 tonight, have allowed more, and the Potters have now kept just two clean sheets from their 14 matches this season.

Much as we’d like to scour the Stoke defence for cut-price options, their current form and confidence is just too weak – even in the light of improving fixtures.

Sane a keeper or worth working towards Mane if you can find a way? Own Salah, no other City attack. Also been annoyed by the 'returns' Otamendi has brought my way and my pathetic points total this gw.

    Essentially it's
    A) Ota to Moreno and Sane to Mane -4 + 0.8m itb to do Rosenoir to Femenia the following gw
    B) Ota to Moreno (free) + 1.3m itb to upgrade Rosenoir next gw
    C) Keep Ota and Sane they have West Ham next gw you nutter

I don't get where this Mane talk is coming from. Our midfield's all seem to be settled and Mane's been outshone by a certain Egyptian this season. Sterling over Sane, who's a season keeper.

Tough call, if he plays he could sting you badly but there's defo enough reason to get rid with him being a rotation risk and not taking advantage of plum fixtures. Depends on who you would get in tbh, Morata/Kane/Hazard if you downgrade Kun the likely targets I'd guess.

Liverpool keeping cs away also will make Moreno a bargain at 4.6 (bought at 4.5). That spell of matches does look very good. Must say i did have some doubts about him today, but they survived in Stoke so why not in Brighton?

Not much of an assister or goals, but he does like to be inside the bps for bonus. The odd assist or even goal could happen as he goes forward a lot.

Liverpool got lucky not to concede, but you are right, that luck could continue against Brighton

they were lucky not to concede but this game is also about luck. Daniels also got three cs that was horrendous luck (opponent teams hit crossbar and post in all three matches), even United was lucky not to concede vs Brighton, but in the end they didn´t, like Arsenal also a bit lucky not to have concede vs Hudders and Burnley unlucky to concede late vs Arsenal.

    Who to lose for Hazard:

I thought about that but my other striker is Tammy. I can lose Gross (reluctantly) and get Wilson. My defense is heavy can downgrade slowly to turn Tammy into Vardy or even Morata in the future.

depends which week you must play them-)

Milli pen, Niasse goal and mariappa cs not the most unlikely scenario say for instance gameweek 18? Leicester away for Mlli, Watford home to Hudders and Niasse vs Swansea home. Could be risk with playing time at that time, especially the two latter named.

I wouldn´t worry to much, as it will not be likely to happen al at once.

not making the obvious transfer from van dijk to christensen, a certain 6 pointer but after i watched City-Southampton i changed my mind, i rarely do that and even had van dijk benched for next week instead of Ward, i now found myself putting him in my starting eleven. How on earth could he not be on the score are assist sheet yesterday? My last punt on a punty move for van dijk originated from my wc, this is last chance saloon van dijk, and bournemouth can´t defend on corners.

So don't Salah, Kane, Morata and more. You can't have them all. Look at his ownership. 10's of thousands are doing just fine without him. KdB is returning the same scores too and no one mentions him. Is he essential too?

I've never had a captain-esque return from Hazard.

Although I have pretty much always owned him for most of each of the past few seasons.

Some argue it is too much money wrapped up in someone you cannot/will not captain.

      1. MFPL
        • 10 Years

That is true, but in that case then people shouldn't even get people priced in the 10m bracket, since they won't captain them

          • 10 Years
          8 years, 4 months ago

Not really. People try to captain Haz in the easy fixtures when stats show these don't produce his greatest fantasy returns. He's a big game player like KdB and therefore is prices correctly imo

This, they will definitely play at least one game unless injured and it is more likely to get a goal or an assist compared to just a regular GW

Marathon not a sprint. Powell said Hazard was gonna be benched. You can question the legitimacy of the source but it should have been reason to avoid TC on Hazard this week.

Who would you play/bench this week? Currently playing AB, benching CDE (in that order)

    A. Mee (lei)
    B. Niasse (HUD)
    C. Richarlison (TOT)
    D. Kiko (TOT)
    E. Dunk (LIV)

if he recovers from illnes he is bound to start, and who cares about price rises in this case? He wil lplay the majority of games for the best team in pl. I can understand the urge to get Erisken or Lukaku out when they loose value and not performing, next week it will be Sterling who drastically falls in price due to a late cameo and Sané with a double digit will rise again-)

    Thoughts on this team?

    Krul Elliott
    Kolasinac Otamendi Duffy Mee Hunemeier
    Sane Salah Sterling Cork Carroll
    Kane Morata Vardy
    1 Ft 1.4 ITB

    Thinking of Krul > Courtois.
    Anything else worth a hit?

Sane at -65% on fpl stats. As I said back when we all rushed in to get Sterling/Sane after the Palace demolition, if both are playing regularly I prefer Sterling due to the runs he makes in behind.

The problem I now face is that a Sane drop prevents me from doing Rosenoir to Femenia (my preferred move with the funds). Worth biting the bullet and making the switch before West Ham?

Is he nailed? I assumed he was as risk from Holebas. Femenia seems a more secure option to me

There is no right time to do it, who knows the Mc line up on Saturday.
Long term it’s the right move just don’t beat yourself up if this week sane gets points and sterling doesn’t. It’s a long term move
