Rest and rotation casts a huge shadow over Wednesday’s events, until one particular Liverpool player produced 23 minutes of magic.

The Fantasy world went into meltdown when teamsheets were released, with a cast of big hitters either benched or rested completely.

Among the worst hit appeared to be the 49.0% of managers who had made Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) most owned player. The free-scoring midfielder was named only among the substitutes for the visit to Stoke City.

More than 200,000 managers made him the second most popular transfer target ahead of Gameweek 14 – trailing only Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata – while a further 8.7% handed the Egyptian the captaincy and promptly endured 67 minutes of despair until Jurgen Klopp finally introduced Salah from the bench.

The Reds had been holding on to a tenuous 1-0 lead given to them by Sadio Mane’s goal from a Dominic Solanke cross before Salah weaved his magic, hitting a brace that brought in 11 vital points – with two bonus points adding to the haul.

Mane and Emre Can provided the assists as Salah’s amazing scoring run continued. He now has three braces from the last four Gameweeks and leads the race for the Golden Boot with 12 goals.

Salah’s prodigious season is starting to assume Suarez-like proportions, and he brings the added joy of extra points from goals and clean sheets that come from a midfielder.

In a season where big-hitting attackers are suffering patchy runs or rotation issues – compounded by Gameweek 14’s events – Salah serenely glides on, putting previous Liverpool mainstays such as Philippe Coutinho, also benched tonight, and Robert Firmino in the shade.

With Liverpool looking forward to a fine short-term schedule (bha EVE WBA Bou), Salah’s ownership will surely surge above 50% for Gameweek 15, and his captaincy levels will also continue on an upward curve.

Reds defence deliver on the road

Klopp’s defence held on for a sixth clean sheet of the season, with Alberto Moreno and Joe Gomez spared rotation to start in the full-back spots once again.

The Spaniard has now started nine straight league matches, while the young England international has been involved in eight of the last nine.

Meanwhile, the Liverpool boss confirmed post-match that Ragnar Klavan missed out at the bet365 Stadium through illness.

The Stoke shut-out was Liverpool’s first away from home and with those strong fixtures to come, investment in one of this cut-price pair – they’re both currently available for 4.6 – appears attractive.

As for Stoke, they’ve now conceded 29 goals.

Only West Ham, who were thrashed 4-0 tonight, have allowed more, and the Potters have now kept just two clean sheets from their 14 matches this season.

Much as we’d like to scour the Stoke defence for cut-price options, their current form and confidence is just too weak – even in the light of improving fixtures.

I got Mustafi this week. Not looking at moving him on.

I could do DeGea and Sane to 4.5 and Hazard but not sold on that move.

sane likely will not play this week. but selling ddg and sane to get hazard and bergovic. can be entertained. but ddg and sane are both long term. hazard however i feel is rather short term...he has a habit of blowing hot and cold. and conte has set his sights on the CL. he wans top spot.

not too shabby sane for mane. both are scorers both can haul only mane is slightly more important for liverpool then sane for city.
          1. can mean that sane will be more protected.
          2. can also mean that more chances will come either way manes can play in the center. giving salah a rest. salah might play the last 15mins if pool is chasing the game.

so yea. sane to mane. but only just. you wont hang yourself if you dnt do it in the end.

btw i would bench niasse and play rlc. until sam shows me niasse is his preferred striker in a 442. if not im not playing niasse directly more like my first sub.

Captaincy's been terrible for me this season to such an extent that Kane grabbing one against Leicester seemed a bonus of sorts... Kane is the probably the one, as a Hornets fan we can't help being open in these games and shall likely have a reshuffle...

For me there's not enough midfield spots to do it but certainly a viable option if you can't get Hazard. But I do feel the optimum midfield is Salah, Hazard, Sterling, Richarlison based on current info.

Agreed, I'd say the same. I'd eventually get him, get frustrated and then downgrade. But he does seem to be developing into a reliable fantasy player v the weaker teams too now that he's playing behind the striker. I think he could do a Sanchez

Agreed. I really hope so too. I'm very tempted to bring him in. But the problem is I did that a few weeks ago when I though he was about to come good and I sold him when he didn't. And that my problem with him. It's nothing for 3 games and then a 25 point haul. So frustrating.

just to make it difficult for you, b and d.

Daniels no cs, maybe attacking points
Mee, good chance of cs imo, very tight and leicester struggle vs teams that defends well.
Gross, Brighton won´t see much of the ball and admittedly LIverpools defence away is what it is, but for me moreno edges it. Slight risk Moreno won´t play due to rotation so might be that a or c wil come in eventually, from those i would prob put Daniels as first sub

Funds, don't like how reliant my team is on rlc/Niasse atm and would like the extra sub. It looks like they'll match each other all season, with Sterling currently the red hot one and the 0.6m difference given my sv means he's the one to downgrade to get the extra pennies

Also I don't think you're that dependant without cause - look at my team with Chilwell, Andy King and Alexander-Arnold ! You have five great defs, mids, and at least two nailed on strikers... Don't tinker without good reason !

I did Sterling to Sane -4 two GWs ago when Sane couldn't be touched. In my history of playing the game it's the worst transfer and hit I've ever taken. If you do this transfer and Sane starts at the weekend and hauls you'll be absolutely gutted.

And likewise if Sterling hauls again and Sane doesn't play due to the risk of another yellow ruling him out of the derby or not recovering from illness and I don't make the move I'll also feel dreadful. If that happens I'll just remind myself why I did it but it does get you thinking

Rom to Morata and start working on fixing that def and bench. Your team is on a tight rope once you look past the front 6

I'm just feeling Morata is overhyped and overshadowed by Hazard whereas Rom HAS to get some goals soon...

Might it be better to go Rom to Vards for the extra money... ?

I'm not convinced by Vardy as an option whatsover, it wasn't long ago everyone wanted rid. He usually does well v teams that leave space in behind and blanks v teams that park the bus. Only has 4 goals from open play this season. Morata (ignoring the Stoke game) has what should be 3 double figure hauls already if you take away the yellow v WBA. I think he's a great option with those fixtures

You are probably right on that one, I tend to agree about Vardy but the funds he provides make my eyes light up haha...

What about upgrading from there ? In the 4.5-7 bracket who do you like defensively ? Mee's there, Moreno, Kiko...

If you don't already have a Burnley def/keeper, mee, if not then I'd prefer Moreno, I think we'll be more solid than Watford but with those fixtures Femenia is also a nice option

              Mee
              Moreno
              Femenia

              In that order for me

Yep you shall be more solid than us... When is Clyne back and is Moreno approaching nailed on status ? He seems to be... I may just favour him for the assist potential...

                  clyne back approx february-march

Moreno as nailed as it gets, but Robbo will play a game somewhere in the looming horizon. as long as you have a bench that can hadle that one game i would say he is worth it, long term.

where have all the money gone?

need a third defender for a start. you could get lucky with one of them you have but wouldn´t count on any of them, Mariappa might play but not certain. I would probably take a punt on TAA, not sure he would start vs Brighton but a decent chance?

I think it's a lot of tinkering TBH, and the fact that I don't really move on anyone who has upgraded in value - who would you downgrade to fund the third defender ?

Lukaku to Morata would be my preference, sorry for late reply.

i would go cheap though and go Chilwell to Dunk, 4.4 and then you could also make TAA to say, Tarkowski, Moreno, Femenia etc. reduces some of your obvious prolems at the back.

      Foster to Pope
Mustafi, Chilwell A-Arnold to Mee, Moreno, Duffy
      King to RLC
      Rom to Morata

Save the 0.5 ITB to be able to buy back Lukaku once he drops and Morata goes up, or give you the flexibility of Pogba to Sterling if he continues producing.

I'd start with Morata as the first move this week, to give you the cash and go with the market forces.

By the market forces you mean the big swingers ? The obvious upwards movers ? Apologies for a stupid question...

You sure it makes sense to rid of Mustafi... I like the other two, and RLC would be a luxury...

Pogba to Sterling, or Morata back to Lukaku seem like great ideas for the future - thank you

Sorry, by market forces I mean where the crowd is moving to, which will lead to price movements. So if you can use those to establish some early positions before the crowds actually get there, then you effectively "make money" when you sell them on.

Ah yes TY mate - you any idea how long it takes for your sell-on price to rise after the actual player value, or by how much the player value must jump to permit a hike in sell-on price ?

Ramsey is tempting. With Sanchez the opportunity cost is huge and it usually requires 2 or 3 transfers to rearrange your team.
